Re: Performance issues

I'm still seeing what I'd ball park as 30-60 second load times on basically everything fwiw. Posts, page loads, etc.

Posts seem to be improving though!

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Cosima, God of the Voyage

I enjoy Cosima, God of the Voyage // The Omenkeel a lot. It's hard to build around because the color doesn't really support it, but it's a card that can do a metric ton of work in a UGx landsy deck (which is kinda one of my spirit animals). So it provides a couple fairly fun interesting ways to buil...

Performance issues

It might just be me but it's only MTGN for me. Feels like some database based performance issues if I had to guess; seen a lot of random MySQL down messages, and it seems to dog out when going into threads particularly, or enumerating threads in a forum. Forum lists also a bit sluggish.

Re: Samut: Play Dudes, Turn Sideways

Freestrider Lookout felt absurd. The miss rate was a little higher than I would like, but I got a ton of triggers off it from Armored Scrapgorger. I'm not sure if it would have been as good without a free crime trigger every turn, but I also had other crime enablers. I mean...samut can do crime in ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Ashnod's Altar

I have recently developed an appreciation for Ashnod's Altar as a fair mana source. It's pretty fun to make a huge board and threaten then respond to sweepers with 20 thrasios activations. Alright you did it! I first saw it in that light in my buddy's Tana and tevesh deck that just used the mana fai...

Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange

Hey guys something I have been wondering about for a decent amount of time is what any of your metas look like? For my own meta we are usually a group of folks collecting to play high powered casual. Some of the signature decks within the meta is a: Toxrill, the Corrosive - heavy on the control wit...

If yall were to build a reanimator tribal that focused on combat rather than more aristocrat combo would you still focus on varina? I know this would drop the power level of the deck exponentially just curious. Thanks!
Raffine for sure. Or possibly tymna and Malcolm or saka

Re: SCD: Recurring Nightmare

Chthonian Nightmare is coming in MH3, which I'm sure will prompt new discussion around Recurring Nightmare. I'll call out that its ETB trigger is arguably a downside, because it gives a window for opponents to respond before it gets returned to hand. Not quite as oppressive (because it's harder to ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Dreadhorde Arcanist

I always think this card is going to be awesome but then it never lines up. I think I'd only want to run it if your commander actively provides pump, because I'm always missing a piece. Even in Xenagos, God of Revels the pump to 2 was not reliable enough and my build runs *tons* of <3cmc instants/so...

Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange

How come I don't see mana confluence or city of brass in most players deck? We already have to much utility land and don't want to flood? Just curious! My reasons are mostly not optimal but-- - I like more fetch targets for Field of the Dead and Cosmic Intervention shenanigans - I don't like tracki...

Re: The Necrobloom: Datura stramonium

I need redundancy for Demonic Tutor in Seasons Past loops as a tutor that puts the card directly into hand instead of on top of my library incase I don't have a cycling land or something. Maybe? It's pretty niche either way. Perhaps Diabolic Intent as a middle ground? I'd consider Hoarding Broodlor...

Re: The Necrobloom: Datura stramonium

Much like DH's deck Earthcraft is probably superior to Spelunking most of the time; it's a ton more value outside of the combo, even at the "downside" of having to fish out a forest. which you likely want to do most of the time anyway. It's true that Spelunking doesn't technically require ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Vault 101: Birthday Party

Autoattaching equipment effects are strong but always wind up more awkward than people think. Like it takes a board state to line up. Deferring it a turn with the saga is kind of helpful in that respect but the timing still requires you to have a dude out first or be happy attaching to the token. Ov...

Re: Imodane - Why is the burn deck gaining life?

In my Slicer deck, I have had really, really good luck loading up on all the derpy counterspell effects. Re: SCD: Rhystic Study

So, let's say you, as the non-Rhystic player pass without doing anything. Then Rhystic passes without doing anything. If you gain no new plays that don't feed the Rhystic, do you do that again? What if you pass, and Rhystic does play something. If you don't have a new play that doesn't feed Rhystic...

Re: SCD: Rhystic Study

I think you misread what I said, since your argument is agreeing with my statement. Not paying (allowing the draw) is riskier at higher powered tables. I laugh/groan at players who try to win through an opposing Rhystic by playing a bunch of spells, especially if they aren't a deck running a ton of...

Re: SCD: Rhystic Study

If you have the choice between playing something an having an opponent draw a card, or playing nothing, the latter is often not the more beneficial decision for you. Do you turn Rhystic Study into an opposing Time Walk ? The higher the power you're playing at, the riskier not paying becomes. If you...

Re: Ephara, God of the Polis - Flash & Taxes

I learned something new recently; Scholar of New Horizons has a few really funny interactions. 1. if I pop Invasion of Segovia // Caetus, Sea Tyrant of Segovia in which is on my list to try, I can remove the counters :D Because it can be done at instant speed too, you can potentially bop the battle ...

Re: SCD: Rhystic Study

Playing your cards does, generally, move you towards winning, while not playing your cards tends to have the opposite effect. This is where the complexity of understanding whether you are actually increasing your odds of winning by defecting comes into play. A lot of the time you will be hurting yo...

Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange

why are you comparing ripples to nights whisper? To me these are completely different cards filling different roles. If you are trying to strictly draw to hand than this card is not for you. If you want to see 3 extra cards a turn and fill your GY with the option to add to your hand - then you migh...
