Paradox Engine in 2020 Modern

Okay Paradox Engine is such a cool card. I loved it in spoilers, I loved it in EDH, and i keep trying to make it work in Modern. It was hard before, now without Mox Opal it's even harder, but it feels like the format has slowed down, so it might be time to revisit. I want to have Engine be part of a...

Re: Quick PSA: sometimes it's OK to be greedy

it's just like everything else in this game, there is a rule of thumb, but it all depends. when i am teaching someone to play, i tell them straight up "I can teach you all the general rules, but you WILL come across a card or board state that breaks every single one of them. my playgroup has le...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 01/13/2020)

I guess I just don't understand people's definition of "fun" if they think Twin is totally unacceptable, but Tron, Dredge, Titan, Storm, Urza, and even stuff like Neobrand are somehow better and more fun against? I'm just having a hard time rationalizing what it is people mean by fun, if ...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 01/13/2020)

I don't get people, Urza without Opal comes down on turn 4, and the ETB is a dumb beater. if you can't deal with this deck without Opal, it honestly feels like you SHOULD play a different format. Blue- counter the blasted thing Black- hahahahahaha...oh, you're serious? White- Path, wipe, Pacify Gree...

Re: A very frustrating pre-release.

somebody needs to sit him down and explain the stack. I played for a year or two and was struggling before someone told me 'in general, the last effect put on the stack is the first to resolve', and I was a much better player after that

oh yay!! I only really became aware of her around the time she left, but I will be really happy if she is coming back in a meaningful way. it always sucks when a few vocal slimeballs ruin the fun for everyone

USPS shipping to Canada

okay, the USPS site is a pain. I'm looking to ship 8 cards between 2 toploaders in a small bubble mailer to Canada. I know people do it every single day, can anyone just give me an IDEA how much it usually runs you? I only have USPS nearby

Esper value makers

I'm building an Oloro deck, my first in 3 colors. sorta pillow fort I guess? lots of counters, removal, board wipes, lifegain, just trying to encourage people to send their attacks somewhere else, while I gain at least 2 life a turn without looking real scary. I play Rhystic Study and Smothering Tit...

Most basic framework for SFM deck.

So, like every other Modern player on the planet, i am trying to work out the best build for SFM. I'm thinking some kind of Esper Control, with counters, hand disrupion, creature removal, and cheap flyers to carry a SFM powered haymaker over the finish line. I have most of the cards picked out, but ...
