Re: Hybrid mana

Edit: Lands are also never a valid comparison because the rules intrinsically assign CI to the basic land types. Can you point me to this rule? While not exactly granting lands a Color Identity, here is the rule for lands with basic land types in general: 903.5d. A card with a basic land type may b...

Re: Probably very easy Rayami question

Yep. Her own ability applies to herself since she is a nontoken creature (unless you made a token copy of her of course) so she will be unable to actually go to the graveyard by dying.

Re: Maddening Imp

Yes, you have it right. If they have a Birds that they tap for mana, it can't attack so the Imp destroys it. The same with a creature without Haste that they cast this turn since it, too, did not attack do the Imp will destroy it. To be fair, the timing restriction of the ability telegraphs the play...

Re: Strionic Resonator and Eminence

It targets the ability on the stack. It doesn't matter where the source of the ability is located; it only matters that the ability is currently on the stack. So, yes, you can copy an Eminence trigger even if the source is in the Command Zone.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Uvenwald Hydra

I run Hydra in a lot of my green decks and its use is more far reaching than just the land fetching. I have won countless games off it by getting it down, sacrificing it to Diamond Valley or Miren, the Moaning Well to stabilize (maybe sacrificing it a couple times if needed) and then using it as a b...

Re: K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth Questions

You can do that. K'rrik only cares about "costs" and Cycling and other other activated abilities (like Greed) have costs. As long as those costs use the black symbol, you can use life to pay for them. Also worth noting is that this works for triggers too. Since a popular one now is Extort,...

Re: [MCD] Wishes

The rules text of the effect answers questions like these before they're even asked with the words "you own". If a friend loans you their truck, do "you own" it? While I acknowledge your retirement, I do want to call this out. I am not intending this as a "gotcha" but ...

Re: Attackers, Attacking and Ninjutsu

Yes, that works fine. Since the new creature does not have anything blocking it, it is an unblocked attacker. And it is an attacker since it is attacking, So you can just keep bouncing the same two creatures if you want and if no one interrupts you.

Re: Clarification on Flickerform and Command Zone

I think the question has already been answered though there are some inconsistencies and uncertainties in the answers given. Just to be clear: Kestia will return, as a creature, even if she was put into the Command Zone. It is worthwhile to note that Flickerform does not mention any zones. It doesn'...

Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange

It was indeed Garza :) After thinking on it a bit more, I might put Arcane Denial a little higher than Forbid. The ability to more consistently cast it, only needing 2 mana vs 3 mana, and having it replace itself (though, they get 2 cards, but whatever) means it might be a bit better. My thought wit...

Re: "Help me cut a card" thread

My first thought was Cabal Stronghold. I think Ghost Quarter can be good in Windgrace and if you are not running any of the other Strip Mine variants (or, just Strip Mine) I would keep it. Stronghold, without seeing the rest of your mana base (ie, how many basics you have and whether you play Urborg...

Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange

I agree with Soul Diviner and I think Corpse Knight is a much better card. I am looking at cutting Soul Diviner as well and the Knight seems like a good swap. I might try that as well. Of the 3 lords you mentioned, I really just didn't like Risen Executioner since it doesn't really do anything "...

Re: Karador, Ghost Chieftain

I'm definitely interested in seeing your list as it does seem to be quite a bit different than mine (which seems to be somewhat common). I too don't really like mana dorks and I removed the ones I was running. I prefer land ramp for a variety of reasons so I would like to see how many land ramp crea...

Re: Karador, Ghost Chieftain

I played this deck last night against Krenko, Mob Boss , Kami of the Crescent Moon , and Niv-Mizzet Parun . I didn't do much in the early game. I got down a Burnished Hart and used that to ramp a little. That was basically the only ramp I got in the game though I did use it twice. I used Ravenous Ch...

Re: Ephara, God of the Polis

I played this deck last night and don't have a lot to share. The game was going along alright but I got into a tough spot with only 5 life left. Overall, the game still felt like I was in control and I had a few tricks up my sleeve to continue to stay alive and I was able to still control the game a...

Re: Varina, Lich Queen

I played this deck last night and had a few cool plays with it. I ended up losing due to a few factors but mostly I just couldn't deal with an opposing Athreos deck very well. I was playing against Athreos, God of Passage , Karn, Silver Golem , and Emmara, Soul of the Accord . Relatively early, Karn...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

My mistake. I don't believe there is anything against it, especially in a decklist thread. I have seen it used often with Spoiler threads and I would expect that to continue here. In any case, I haven't seen any rules against it, but I admit I could have missed it.

Re: Top-end replacement for Iona

They will vote condemn, and you'll laugh because you can either give your creatures indestructible, or you will just rebuild faster than them (you start with a 4/4 flyer and your commander costs WBG . Do you ever get to a scenario where your opponents still vote Condemnation when your creatures hav...

I didn't include it in the notable omissions because it isn't omitted :) Though, I see the list I actually have posted is somewhat outdated. No doubt due to making changes to the deck but not updating the list in anticipation of doing everything here. And then, not making the changes here. I will ma...

Re: Karador, Ghost Chieftain

I plan on playing this again this week (I took a little time off) and I have been thinking more about what I want to do with the deck. I think, with a lot of the most recent suggestions on MTGSalvation, I have this deck is a really good spot. I still feel that Birds, Deathrite, and Weathered Wayfare...

Re: [SCD] Flash

I personally never understood why Protean Hulk was unbanned, and the reality is that not a single soul has used it for "value". I currently have 3 green decks that can, at least somewhat easily, sacrifice creatures and I use it for nothing *but* value. In fact, I would say I have never se...

Re: Hope of Ghirapur and multiple sacrifices

Nope. The Hope that dealt damage was sacrificed and is now a new object in the graveyard. You return it but it is still a new object on the battlefield which means it is not the same one that dealt damage. You would need to deal combat damage with the *new* one in order to sac it.

Re: Yarok, the Desecrated - ETB Value, Pod, & Infinite Mana

So does this mean it is bugged on MTGO? When I cast Animate Dead/Dance of the Dead with Yarok out, I target the creature, the enchantment comes in and triggers twice, first trigger resolves, bringing back the creature, and triggering any ETBs that creature may have. The second trigger resolves, not...
