I have absolutely no idea. xD It's not really a control card, so it would probably fit better into a build with the Stoneblade package mainboard.

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control
However, you'd have to present me with a very compelling argument for me to renounce the card that just got me a 4-0 against only meta decks at FNM with it on the first day I played Esper with it. $60 store credit speaks a lot louder to me than unconstructive criticism does. Wow, I'm so happy for y...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion
Well I'll propose a list for Jeskai, but keep in mind that UR Twin was my love, and Jeskai never really appealed to me. That said, I've had some experience with T3feri, so here goes: Lands (23) 2x Sulfur Falls 2x Glacial Fortress 1x Fiery Islet 4x Flooded Strand 4x Scalding Tarn 1x Arid Mesa 3x Stea...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)
People have heard it from me before - it is indeed Urza that needs a ban. But then WotC will probably ban Mox Opal, then have to later on ban Urza, Lord High Artificer and Mox Amber, while unbanning Green Sun's Zenith. This seems to be the predictable outcome of all of this. I haven't tested the Pa...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)
As much as I've believed for a long time that Mox Opal was a potential violator in Modern, if something from Urza decks eats a ban, I really hope it's Urza himself. Opal is used in a lot of decks that are totally fine, or even actively bad: Lantern is unique, Affinity (which is nonexistent) and Scal...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control
I really think you're sleeping on this card. Or maybe the card is just not that good? I mean, if this is the only part of my post that you can reply to, that doesn't exactly convince me that Drown is a bad card. You're entitled to your opinion, but I have my own anecdotal evidence that the card is ...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control
Bad: Vial Decks: Humans, Spirits, Merfolk (They don't regularly put things in their yard) Except that most counterspells would be dead against these decks anyways. Drown is much better than, say, Mana Leak in these matchups because it can work as a removal spell. Keep in mind that Esper Charm and F...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control
Remember that time, about 14 hours ago, where I went 4-0 in FNM with 3 mainboard Drown in the Loch and it was VERY good? I do. It was a fun time.

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control
4-0'd FNM tonight, list felt stronger than ever. 2-1 Infect, 2-0 Grixis Ctrl, 2-0 Mardu Dreadhorde Stoneblade, and 2-1 Whirza. Will post more later. Pro tip -- Mystic Sanctuary is insane and a mainstay 1-of. Drown was amazing, even without any Thought Scours. Edit: Here's the list: Lands (25) 2x Cel...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control
I don't want to be "that guy", seriously. But running White Sun's Zenith in the late 2019 seems just wrong. Not by the looks of it, but by experience. That card is massively underpowered compared to the rest of the field. There's a reason if NO ONE list in the Modern footage events featur...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control
[mention]Grimblee[/mention] No Logic Knot just seems wrong here. I think you want to cut a Snare and 1 or 2 Remands and play at least 2 Knots, though I always play 3. I honestly am not sure that it's wise to play without a few planeswalker finishers, but I would suggest giving it a shot and seeing i...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion
23 lands and 7 cantrips is overkill. Too much air in the deck. 23 lands, 7 cantrips would be okay in a Kiki-Jace shell. There's definitely no need for such amount of mana, here. I'm assuming this doesn't include Remand as a cantrip? I think 8 Opt/Serum is definitely overkill, 7 is fine, and 6 is al...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion
Oh, I just realized everyone's been forgetting Spellskite! It was very key in mu's vs. Burn, Jund (mainly for protecting Moon), the mirror, decks that rely on Path for exarch, and modular triggers. Should we be including it?

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion
TheAnnihilator What would you want to put in for the 3rd Charm? The 23rd land? As for Seasoned Pyromancer, I think we only have 3 or 4 sideboard slots for the fair matchups. 2 of those are Jace, 1 is either Keranos or Ral. I've seen a lot of you guys skipping sweepers, and I think we need an Anger ...

[quote=Cow31337Killer post_id=37087 time=1570161176 user_id=1104] I'm confused. Do people think [card]Splinter Twin[/card] is getting unbanned?[/quote] Yes, eventually, but it's unrelated to this post. This post is to come up with an "updated" Twin list to run against a gauntlet of current...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion
I must say I'm not a fan of Charm. I would rather play 2 Charms (or 1, but that's porbably a losing battle). I do like the sound of Seasoned Pyromancer in the side, sortof like a better P&K. Not main tho. As for JtMS, I honestly don't care where it's played -- main and side make no real differen...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion
Something else is, didnt people start shaving off a Twin? 6 Tappers and 3 Twins? I played 3 Twin when running Jeskai Twin and Tempo Twin with Young Pyromancer (basically the same shell as TarmoTwin). I do think the fourth one is correct when you don't have enough power to reliably close a game. Eit...

I've also been on UR Kiki for a while, sorry I'm late to this discussion. Here's the list I would be on: Creatures(11) 4 Snapcaster Mage 4 Deceiver Exarch 2 Pestermite 1 Vendilion Clique Enchantments(4) 4 Splinter Twin Planeswalker(2) 2 Jace, the Mind Sculptor Spells(20) 3 Serum Visions 1 Archmage's...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control
Anyone tested with Drown in the Loch yet? I've played with it a little and I think it's pretty good. I don't think it's a 4 of, and I'm not sold on playing Thought Scour for it, I think it more likely that something like 3 Path, 1-2 Push, and 2-3 Drown is better. I haven't played it, but I feel lik...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)
I have to agree that now is the best time to discuss more unbannings -- I'm looking at Twin and Pod. Both promote interaction, Pod happens to be weak to Abrade/Kommand/Trophy/Force/Remand and Twin happens to be weak to removal that is already good against SFM decks, Goyf decks, Pod creatures, etc. I...

[mention]Amalek0[/mention] I do see what you're saying, and I wanted to add that I don't necessarily mean +X, -X in every matchup. Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control
TheAnnihilator Crib from the old MTGSalv primer. Most of the advice is still valid because it doesn't focus on specific cards, but rather on coordinated and cohesive gameplans. The problem with doing anything else is that it doesn't address the two components everyone who wants to play this archety...
