Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control
Ok, so I finally got a chance to talk about why the above list intrigues me: Some things I like: - Astrolabe. I feel like most of the Esper lists I've seen on MTGGoldfish as of recently have been playing 4 Astrolabe, and I must say it makes a lot of sense. It allows you to play Field of ruin much mo...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control
An Esper 5-0 list got posted. I'm liking a lot of things about it: Planeswalkers (5) 2 Jace, the Mind Sculptor 2 Teferi, Hero of Dominaria 1 Teferi, Time Raveler Creatures (2) 2 Snapcaster Mage Sorceries (2) 2 Supreme Verdict Instants (22) 2 Archmage's Charm 2 Cryptic Command 1 Drown in the Loch 3 E...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)
Not to be rude or anything, but why are we discussing how diverse Legacy is on the State of Modern thread? I realize that it's loosely related to Modern's diversity; but, even as a lurker, I'm just not really that interested in conversations regarding Legacy. Honestly, I just don't think it's releva...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control
Titans made Thought Scour that much more unnecessary. Drown should be even better now. Kaya's Guile too. On the contrary, recently I've been considering cutting black and playing Archmage's Charm over ECharm, Oust / Winds of Abandon over Fatal Push (yuck, but what can you do?), and cutting Drown en...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control
PSA for everyone: Kaya's Guile is very well positioned right now. I've been playing 2 main recently, and I'm honestly feeling stupid for ever having cut it in the first place. It's more relevant now than ever, when even decks like Amulet/Bant control are running Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath and Jund...

Re: [Deck] Amulet Titan
Yep, usually when you lose with Amulet, it's absolutely your fault or it's an opponent you had no chance against. Otherwise, the deck should deliver. It's just a hard truth to playing it haha. I wouldn't beat yourself up over that.

Re: [Deck] Amulet Titan
You should generally be siding out at least one SPact every game, if not 2. People bring in hosers like Ashiok, Damping Sphere, Fulminator, etc. If they aren't doing that, then it's likely a single Titan is good enough to win and you should side out a SPact or two so you don't Titan flood.

Re: [Deck] Amulet Titan
So Once is banned. Tbh I don't think this changes anything. XD I guess just play Explore in its place and Stirrings in the 2 slots Explore used to occupy.

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control
I've been away from modern for a while (release of Eldraine). The ban of Oko and Opal got me back, and I've been tinkering with various lists. I've recently been playing this Esper list, which feels pretty good. It's still very much a work in progress, but I like how it plays so far, and it almost ...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control
So I usually play Amulet in paper these days since it's fun to play even against my least favorite matchups, but I wanted to chime in and say that I've played list similar to the one below to several 3-2 finishes (I know, really impressive, right? :P) on MTGO. It's good enough to get a free league f...

Re: [Deck] Amulet Titan
Unless he was tapped out, this plays around removal as well. Could have been the right line tbh. A secure win is better than a fast one.I use the Pact for another Titan and he scoops, although I should have just gotten Dryad and killed him.

Re: [Deck] Amulet Titan
12 person FNM. Round 1 vs. Humans. He won the die roll. Killed me on turn 4 after I drew 3 lands for my turns. Still had a Titan in hand. In the next game, he got stuck on 1 land. Triple Aether Vial is too slow. I got some creatures this game. In the next one, I keep on 4 lands and draw 3 lands and...

Re: [Deck] Amulet Titan
I personally play neither. I'm on Negate. Between the 2, I'd play Dispute, as Gust does nothing versus Tron, Control, Storm, Ad Naus, etc. The only reason Gust sees play is because of the mirror. However, I like Negate over either since it hits all of the above. How do you feel about playing a 2nd V...

Re: [Deck] Amulet Titan
I put together the Dryad/Valakut version and am going to jam it tomorrow at FNM. It's really not much play testing, as our FNM has been reduced to less than 16, but it will be interesting anyway. I'm actually most likely playing again tomorrow as well, since my schedule has been pretty freed up thi...

Re: [Deck] Amulet Titan
Played Amulet last night to a saddening 2-2 record. I'll update with the 75 later. Lands (31) 2x Breeding Pool 2x Forest 1x Wooded Foothills 4x Castle Garenbrig 2x Gemstone Mine 1x Cavern of Souls 1x Crumbling Vestige 1x Radiant Fountain 1x Ghost Quarter 1x Golgari Rot Farm 2x Gruul Turf 1x Selesnya...

Re: [Deck] Amulet Titan
Good points. So, I can still run Sakura-Tribe Scout or Arboreal Grazer ? That sounds good because I want some early plays other than just Amulet or search cards. I kind of did the SB for the Valakut version of Amulet, but didn't actually switch the deck yet, lol. Went up to 3 Beast Within, 2 Dismem...

Re: [Deck] Amulet Titan
They play 4 Dryad of Ilysian Grove and 3 Azusa, although I wanted to switch the numbers on those (maybe not a good idea?). Before I played with Dryad and saw it on stream, I was a firm believer in 4 Azusa. In practice, though, the two cards are really similar. Dryad is just more versatile. There's ...

Re: [Deck] Amulet Titan
I did also get Bojuka Bog off Ancient Stirrings You're still playing Stirrings, eh? But yeah, I've found Baloth to be very good at the local level, since most people won't expect it. From the other side of the matchup, as a control player, I usually leave in extra removal spells for the odd Tracker...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion
Sorry for the late answer. It was at a kitchen table. I would love if we could stream it, but unfortunately we did not. We tested vs Wraithpk some games on xmage. I am currently doing some games with Twin /w Veil of summer vs Jund & mainly GDS, and my win rate has gone up. I am starting to beli...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 01/13/2020)
[mention]drmarkb[/mention] Modern will never be A T5 format when infect goldfishes T2, storm turn 3, amulet t3 with somewhat high frequency, Prowess T3, and decks like Urza are now playing Pentad Prism to play Urza on T3 while Tron's best draws land Karn T3. Modern is pretty clearly a T3 format righ...

Re: [Deck] Amulet Titan
That's awesome. I've been doing Elementals quite a bit as well. I'm 42-16 with it so far. I think I remember you from the Abzan Little Kid deck - one of my favorite decks of all times in Modern. Yeah, I've played my fair share of Kitchen Finks, though I've usually paired it with Viscera Seer. My ma...

Re: [Deck] Amulet Titan
Welcome to the dark side. It's great to have another Amulet player commenting here. 7-2 to start? That's damn good. I personally was too unsure of the Valakut plan, even though I also play Valakut in other decks, in this deck. I also hate cutting Azusa. Sakura-Tribe Scout could definitely be replac...

Re: [Deck] Amulet Titan
So I'm officially an Amulet player now. I watched a lot of fpawlus's streams (on youtube), and built the deck over the winter. I've gone 3-0, 2-1, 2-1 in the 3 FNMs I've played in with it since I got it together. I like to do a ton of research before going all in on a deck, so I knew the play patter...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 01/13/2020)
As an Amulet player, the most egregious card in the deck is absolutely Field of the Dead . OuaT is also played in GW Devoted Druid decks, Infect, sometimes ETron, and the more fringe strats mentioned above. I actually think OuaT is fine for the format. Edit: I want to add that I feel Modern is a Vei...
