Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Karn, Scion of Urza
He also used to be worth about $30 instead of about $5 he is now. It shows the love, or lack thereof, after he left Standard.

Re: What have you done with Kenrith?
I've heard tell of False Cure style decks with him at the helm, in order to be able to repeatedly Lava Axe people. I was actually just tonight thinking that if I do build him, that's one of the ways I want to be able to win. The two main ways I've been thinking about building him are either as 5c E...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Witch's Vengeance
Hawk dead of winter isn't shaky, you just need a snow base. It's overall quite reliable, you just need to commit to snow lands. Yes, but a lot of snowlands can add up quickly in price. I prefer Mutilate in mono black due to how easy it is to get set up. Dead of Winter is not a bad card, just requir...

Re: What are your favourite mono-white and mono-blue generals?
It's very stereotypical, but Talrand, Sky Summoner was one I played years ago. Swarms of drakes can get out of hand very quickly while you don't need to commit much to the board, and you can use the powerful blue token support like Opposition and Bident of Thassa . I still feel like he is a powerful...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Junk Diver/Myr Retriever
The flying makes Diver a strong blocker when opponents don't want to give you something, yet gives you the choice to sac it anyways when you have an outlet. I am fond of it for holding off a lot of offenses while preparing my boardstate further.

Help for a Kroxa-centric deck
If people are going to consider Pox/Smallpox for this, why not Death Cloud? If you run a lot of artifact mana it's very powerful as you can still operate even after the lands and creatures get wiped.

Re: The importance of "having an answer" in your deck
I love playing control as I love having a ton of answers in my deck for anything that could happen. You don't need a lot of win cons, just enough that can make it through, especially resilient/recyclable ones. If I don't have a pile of answers in my deck I feel powerless to stop big threats against ...

It doesn't work for all of your creatures, but, Ivy Lane Denizen will give some counters for free. Unspeakable Symbol also will drop counters on things for a low cost.

Re: Rankle, Master of Pranks - Is he the new Braids, Cabal Minion?
I built my mono-B stax with Liliana, Heretical Healer / Liliana, Defiant Necromancer since she dodges a lot of removal and mass removal as a planeswalker and gives the ability to recur if necessary. Stuff like Death Cloud , Smallpox , etc only empower her since it keeps creatures off the board that ...

Re: Underused Cards in EDH
I liked Soul Exchange in a "steal" deck with Dragonlord Silumgar, where I could exile something stolen and bring something back for value sort of like City of Shadows. There's not much stealing in the command zone to make that reliable, though.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Emeria Shepherd
I wish she wasn't 7cmc. That ability is very powerful even without trying to combo and synergize with it.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
This set is interesting but no "must-haves" for me other than Mystic Sanctuary for a few U/x/x decks. Deafening Silence is great for creature and hate decks too, though more as a protection against control. I like the overall flavor of it, and Emry I like because of her art.

Precursor Golem.
This guy is the nuts in any deck you can play copy effects like Heat Shimmer, targeting one of his Golem buddies. You should be able to churn out hundreds of golems without an issue in this deck consistently.

Re: "Jank" cards which have flummoxed you?
I once had a very explosive start with Maelstrom Wanderer, which included a Pathbreaker Ibex. I think it was turn 3 or 4. I could have killed a single player but decided to spread the love and try to kill the table the next turn. Then my opponent, who just had a Trinket Mage in play, cast Reins of ...

Re: When it it Okay to Unleash the Hounds?
I absolutely loathe point systems that force people to play a style like in a league, instead rather encouraging similar-minded players to play together. As for the length of a good game, it depends on the playgroup. A more cutthroat, it should be as fast as possible (though a good stax can ruin tha...

Re: Ideas for a different Spellslinger deck
I rather like "Finite Storm" or, storm decks without an infinite loop. Mizzix was one of the better generals for that since it reduced the cost of spells, but the new Sevinne seems ok due to the extra color and being able to combine him with Recoup and Past in Flames . The big cards in any...

Re: Bant bounce options
For single use, Boomerang is great not just for the Manta but for tempo purposes. Chain of Vapor I enjoy because of how cheap it is and if you politick right, it can be multiple removal at once. Wipe Away is one of the best single-target bounces due to its split second so it can disrupt combos.

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
Decks like this are one of the reasons to keep up with this community. The original thread was insightful on the various interactions that can make Magic fun, and it is rather unique in how it works compared to the usual build-around powerful legendaries that keep on being reprinted. Zedruu was a Co...
