Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Mesmeric Orb
I run Mesmeric Orb almost exclusively as value over time, and it is removed often. That's why I enjoy it in Osgir, the Reconstructor; removing it just let's me make 2-6 more of them.

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v6.0
I am absolutely on board with a Sunforger oriented deck, although that's just because it's one of my favorite toolbox cards.
In hindsight, I was trying to advocate for Slayers' Stronghold instead of doublestrike, but I could see it if we take a voltron approach.

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v6.0
I was glad to see this series continue and plan to participate going forward. I think these usually start with a strategy discussion? Velomachus Lorehold seems to push a spellslinging deck with voltron and extra combat spells to me; kind of like a balanced Narset, Enlightened Master . Probably heavi...

Commander Jumpstart Box - Drafting Partners
This is an abnormal draft box that is intended to mix the variance of a Commander Cube with the Ease of a set of typical constructed Commander Decks. After the idea for a Commander Jumpstart product with two Commander 'packs' was brought up here , I wanted to build a draft box that offered it. This ...

Re: Jumpstart for Commander Partners
So after working on it for, *checks thread history* apparently several months, I finished my project from this thread enough to play it. I can attest that it's a lot of fun so far (only 20 commanders done). Another week or two of testing/tweaking and it should be fit to post.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Vicious Offering
My only deck that was interested in Vicious Offering continues to run it: Baron Von Count . It has the right numbers and instants that trigger "destroy target player" are great fun. Outside silver boarder commander, I considered it for Rayami, First of the Fallen because that deck is built...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Vexing Puzzlebox
I have been successful with Vexing Puzzlebox in Osgir, the Reconstructor as making copies allow each copy to add counters to the others. Copy Osgir's ability a couple of times and those 6 puzzleboxes will be ready within a turn or two. Not a bad return from a mana rock. If you aren't building around...

Re: Jumpstart for Commander Partners
This sounds pretty amazing. What would be the best way to quickly re-separate the decks afterwards? Use a marking on the front side or just decide not to care about it and make the all the sleeves different colors? I don't see any reason to worry about duplicate cards between packs unless it is a r...

Re: Jumpstart for Commander Partners
This concept has been stuck in my head since I read the OP last week. I find it a very compelling alternative to a commander cube because the setup time is so reasonable by comparison. Just grab two halves and shuffle up. I have been brainstorming around 3-5 archetypes per color with no card overlap...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Day of the Dragons
My favorite way to win with Day of the Dragons is Opalescence. It either ends the game in a draw due to mandatory triggers looping or you can add Warstorm Surge to deal damage.

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v5.0
I agree that as removal Eaten Alive is more final. I mostly liked the option to be a discard outlet to help set up our graveyard.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Fertilid
The only place where I still run Fertilid is a Ghave, Guru of Spores deck where it gets very funny with Ob Nixilis, Unshackled . Nobody remembers that fertilid's ability targets a player until it matters. In the interim it's not great ramp, but it is ramp that can use +1/+1 counters as a resource. O...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v5.0
Yea Plumb the Forbidden and Deadly Dispute card draw from sacrifice works well here, at low MV. Equipment that triggers on combat damage is a bit cumbersome with creatures that recur at the start of combat, so I am not sold on Mask of Memory yet. I will nay. Yea Transmogrant's Crown for adding power...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v5.0
Maybe I am missing a synergy, but I don't see the appeal of Cultivator's Caravan . It looks like an occasional extra creature from a mana rock. I will vote nay there. I think the noted extreme card cost on the escape for the Ox is a good point. I will commit to nay on Ox of Agonas . I would like a b...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v5.0
Yea Supernatural Stamina . I like the instant speed protection and sacrifice outlet enabling. I abstained on Ox of Agonas and Razorlash Transmogrant . Does anyone want to discuss those further? On that topic, I was checking our current list, and noticed a surprising dearth of sacrifice outlet necess...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v5.0
I was so busy voting during lunch that I forget to vote during lunch. Yea Buried Alive because graveyard stuff. Yea Scythe of the Wretched because that's a great synergy here. Yea Graveshifter because it's a good phoenix here. I think the rule was that we can add cards once prerelease hits, so Razor...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v5.0
Gravebreaker Lamia is cost reduction on the one card we know to expect casting multiple times. The cost reduction also includes any cast from graveyard so Squee, the Immortal and escape cards (which I anticipate casting multiple times, I view this as an engine-based aggro deck). Finally the cost re...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v5.0
Abstain on Ox of Agonas . I see it as a reasonable card cycling engine. However, Escape 8 is a lot of cards, and I don't anticipate doing that more than once or twice. I am not convinced on it yet. Yea Undying Evil as a way to protect creatures while also setting up a trigger on other turns. On the ...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v5.0
Yea Faithless Looting as an efficient discard. Yea Phyrexian Reclamation as efficient and instant speed recursion. Yea Woe Strider despite the high MV because it does pull double duty well. I think that I am yea on Cultist of the Absolute . It's power for our commander, as well as protection. Howeve...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v5.0
So I am going to skip the vote recap this time because there haven't been new nominations yet today and I am feeling lazy. I nominate Judith, the Scourge Diva as a dies trigger that works with our other damage enablers, while powering up phoenixes for attack/damage and pushing more creatures to 4+ p...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v5.0
It seems that we might not have enough participants currently to get 3 votes unless a card is unanimous. I suspect our pending list will continue to grow. I don't know if I am sold on Squee, the Immortal . He is resistant and doesn't need support, but 3 is a lot. I guess he is a Sanitarium Skeleton ...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v5.0
Yea on Vicious Shadows (1y-1n) triggering on global dies us potent, and while the mana cost is high, it's paid for in damage rather quickly unless everyone is hellbent. It's probably less mana long term than Grafted Exoskeleton once you include equip cost more than once. And this deck probably wants...

The interaction that comes to mind with Rootpath Purifier is Earthcraft. Untapping busted big mana lands (Gaea's Cradle) wasn't previously possible.

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v5.0
It looks like I wasn't the only person who was busy this weekend, based on the infrequent updates here. Yea Squee, Goblin Nabob (4y-0n) as eternal discard fodder and easy leave the graveyard trigger. I don't recall if 3 votes is still the threshold to add, so this may be a redundant vote. Yea Distur...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v5.0
I am nearly certain that the trigger to cast Syrix, Carrier of the Flame is basically the same as Horde of Notions , meaning that it's an ability on the stack that casts the spell during the resolution of the ability. This is why it works independently of timing restriction. This is also why the tri...
