Re: Underused Cards in EDH
Mirror of Fate (117) - this card does weird and gross things. It absolutely violates the very concept of exile. It enables recursion of things that aren't supposed to be recurred, and is enabled by all of the countless cards in edh that will exile your cards. And if you can activate it twice, you'r...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
You are saying that Kykar hasnt been doing enough if you dont get him early, I haven't tried it yet but Sigil Tracer has caught my eye. Tapping 2 wizards seems pretty steep, but it doesnt care about haste and can be cascaded into. Yeah. Kykar is not a good top deck, that's for sure. Or if Kykar doe...

Oooo, I could probably make the DC one. I'm not sure how I feel about that quantity of Sol Rings though.

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
That's fair. I personally like toolbox-oriented decks with lots of silver bullets, so I always find the research/forger package overlap quite pleasing. But I understand if it isn't your thing. Variety is the spice of life as they say Out of curiosity, do you play Leave // Chance in your Wild Resear...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
Why no wild research ? I play a sunforger/research package in my zedruu and it's been great overall. The discard at random hurts a lot less when zedruu consistently grips 7-10 after upkeep. Even with only 4 cards in hand, you have 80% odds of keeping what you want, 83% at 5, 86% at 6, 87.5% at 7, 8...

Re: [SCD] Sol Ring
In fairness, crudeness aside, he's not wrong. I don't think anybody actually changed their stance in the thread, at least not that I recall from my cursory skimming of new posts when they happen. It's a very polarising card, and you tend to be quite set in your view about it. Personally I like it -...

Re: [SCD] Sol Ring
Even in a 40 life format, cheap cards are still better. Just having 40 life isn't enough to help someone cast expensive cards. Besides, 40 life is not some unassailable barrier. Even low power decks can deal +40 damage by turn 6 with one straight forward, scaling threat like Pathbreaker Ibex. You a...

Some people just enjoy being angry. Particularly if they feel it's righteous fury. Historic is fine.vandertroll wrote: ↑4 years agoI am talking about the historic debacle! Seeing lots of rage in reddit - even some petitions - and various fb groups.

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
Someone back on salvation commented on the card Sudden Substitution (which they're using in a Zedruu-esque deck specifically with cards that can lose the game). My response got a bit involved, so Imma paste it over here too. Sudden Substitution is getting a chance in here. As far as corner cases and...

People don't properly evaluate Mindmoil. The card selection you get from an effect like this is akin to perpetual tutoring.

Re: [SCD] Sol Ring
If they decided to ban the Urza-tron lands in Modern, players can still "choose" to play play Karn Liberated and Ulamog. But it wouldn't remotely be the same. Because the turn in which you play things matters. And large cmc cards are at an inherent disadvantage vs low cmc cards. Even when...

Re: [SCD] Sol Ring
You know Caustic Tar isn't in the same ballpark and that it doesn't belong in the conversation, yet you still mention it. I get it, you're trying to make me seem ridiculous, by being even moreso. It's a nice story, but maybe your threat assessment is off if you view Caustic Tar as anything but a by...

Re: [SCD] Sol Ring
My point isn't that fast mana doesn't increase your chances. My point is that not every T1 Sol Ring game is actually a "non-game." T1 Sol Ring games automatically being "non-games" is just not true. And nobody that I'm aware of has said that turn 1 Sol Ring games are automatical...

Re: [SCD] Sol Ring
If the game starts out as Archenemy, and we placed odds on whether or not T1 Sol Ring would get the Archenemy out with a W. I don't think Sol Ring gets you there often enough where this is an issue, especially when the power level of EDH games is not that high. No one can withstand 3 other opponent...

Re: [SCD] Sol Ring
They have said they do not consider 2 mana 'too much' even in early games because they often see it mitigated with 3 v 1 action, or removal of the threat landed with the extra mana. I do not agree, but thats the data I have seen presented by Sheldon and papa_funk about that particular line of play....

Re: Do you think C19 is above and beyond?
Which political card don't you like? I like a good political card personally, but wotc's understanding of politics seems...underdeveloped. Although so is everyone else's so I guess it works perfectly. Probably thinking of Pendant of Prosperity . While I'm trying it out in Zedruu, it's not cause it'...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
Edit: Putting this on top for better visibility. I also got to play Pendant of Prosperity for the first time, and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I played it turn 3 as is ideal. I couldn't keep zedruu in play to benefit from it at all, and it didn't get activated until me and the controlle...

Charmbreaker Devils in sneakily powerful with the blue spells that make token copies. The +4/+0 is often overlooked, but not if you have 2 or 3 devils churning back spells.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Sacrifice
Rituals and one-shot sacrifice outlets are rarely where one wants to be in this format. Hard disagree. In a format where board interaction is common and targeted hand disruption is rare, the best resources in commander are the ones you can hold in hand until you're ready to win. Rituals are sweet, ...

Re: [DECK] Iteration 2
Aye, the color ratio is based upon the actual symbol occurrence. It also process hybrids into their colors based on the otherwise existing ratio. So add colorless mana into the mix as well? Maybe split this into two charts/views ("show colorless" button)? I like the chart itself as it is ...

Re: [DECK] Iteration 2
This is utterly fantastic. I have two comments. First is a thought. When it breaks down by color it makes a pie chart by color, and displays "percentages", adding up to 100%. I'm not actually sure what the color breakdown is by, I think it's by frequency of mana symbols, but I haven't coun...

Re: Random Deck of the Week Thread
The card that jumps out at me is Cosi's Trickster . I had a casual 60 card deck back in the day built around Cosi's Trickster and extract effects that I enjoyed, so I've been known to sneak a trickster into my blue edh decks now and then and watch it get huge because everyone shuffles in edh constan...

I've tried a couple of things for real, and then I've goldfished with some of the upcoming cards as proxies. Sadly, my hype is falling on the new things. I really wish I could get behind Elsha of the Infinite , I really would love a card that lets me peek at my top card to make the cut, but not even...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Nahiri, the Harbinger
-8: search your library for a card named Knowledge Pool and put it onto the battlefield. Return it to your hand at the beginning of the next endstep. I think there might be better targets. Maybe Blightsteel to eliminate a player? Novablast Wurm to wipe the board? Consider this with me. When Knowled...
