Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
So, I have another thing in my mind that I'm going to try in the immediate future. I am circling back to Astral Dragon . If anyone recalls my original reaction to Astral Dragon, I was upset because it does something I really want (makes anything a creature) but does it in a way that is quite easy to...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
NOOO!!! After a long time, a wild 3-card infinite appeared in my Zedruu. This is what happens when I goldfish with the deck at 4am!!! With Wormfang Manta , Sakashima the Impostor and Mirage Mirror in play, pay 2+2 mana in Mirror, targeting Manta and Sakashima (with that exact order), then Mirror be...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
I have found my card from the set that will either be true love or cratering disappointment: Reenact the Crime To start, the limitations here are perfect for avoiding accidental combos: it's turn limited, it requires a card to be exiled to do anything so only Mirror of Fate (or similar effects) coul...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
It's one of my Magic rules complaints that you can't turn a double-faced card face down, not because I think they should transform, but because you should always be able to give any card a proper card back, since that is required to have the card in your deck to begin with. Yes, the bird is good. Ha...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
I feel that AWB1 can be a great card that can be played as soon as you draw it, provided you have your entire deck built around counters. Not just a few shenanigans. I mean adding things like Vexing Puzzlebox , etc. The card is powerful, but it needs solid investment deckbuildingwise. Agreed. It is...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
I really don't want to be a party pooper, but I have recently encountered a 3-card with Cadric, Soul Kindler , Sakashima the Impostor and Ioreth of the Healing House . 3 hasty Ioreths for 13 mana. I'll probably just accept the 3-card combo for now and see how I feel about it after more playing. Viz...

Re: Y'all are building Liesa wrong
Really?!?!? So is the reminder text: That creature neither deals nor recieves combat damage this turn just lying? or am I misunderstanding what it is trying to say? You are understanding exactly what it is trying to say, but it doesn't function as printed anymore because the rules have changed so m...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
So I've done some testing of the things from the recent pages. I wanted to try a counters package. For all of the recent tries, I swapped March of the Machines out for Rise and Shine , and then I cut out Displacer Kitten , Cavalier of Dawn , and Cursed Mirror for some combination of All Will Be One ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Zedruu the Greathearted
The secret Zedruu the Greathearted tech that was passed to me and will be passed down for generations to come is Pentad Prism . It's a smoooooth curve into cast Zedruu on 3 and donate an empty prism on 4, with even room to fit a tapped land in there if you prefer. I think "kill on sight" m...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Up the Beanstalk
Honestly, it's the ETB draw a card that gets me. 2 mana cantrips on permanents with much less upside have been staples across formats, things like Wall of Omens, it's kind of wild that they're valuing the cantrip so low these days as to just casually tack it onto a 2 mana uncommon card draw engine.

Fair point.DirkGently wrote: ↑5 months agoThat's a defeater for any argument around build-around requirements - if you were literally planning to build the deck exactly the same way without that card, then I guess the build-around requirements don't matter?

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Eureka
For a bit, I used Jodah, Archmage Eternal to be able to hard cast Hypergenesis without the suspend. My Conflux plan was to grab Hypergenesis , Dualcaster Mage , Grozoth , (and the other two cards were protection for my nonsense, whatever worked best), and then Dual cast Hypergenesis so that the seco...

Re: Kirkusjones presents: DirkGently's polite debate corner aka the Thunderdome
And since it's outside the command zone, if you're significantly warping the deck to exploit it I think the deck overall probably becomes worse. You may not need to warp the deck at all if it incidentally lines up with what you're doing anyway. For example, I know in my Zedruu that if I cast Saheel...

Re: Kirkusjones presents: DirkGently's polite debate corner aka the Thunderdome
Think of it this way: if your opponent's know you have a card in your deck that if you draw and cast can immediately end the game, they are obligated to either save removal for you specifically at all times or focus you down before you draw it. If they do neither of those things, they could lose to ...

My turn to attempt contention:
Possibility Storm is a serious card that should be taken seriously.: It is simultaneously disruptive to opponents while able to be built around to advance the controller's win condition.

I still go on Sally for the rumor mill and story discussion... The rumor mill used to be great, we used to get hyper over-analysis of pretty much every interesting new card, usually in a dedicated thread. So far as I can tell, that just doesn't exist anywhere like it used to (other than reddit, whe...

Re: What basic lands do you run?
The only deck of mine that I cared enough to get specific basics for is Zedruu, and I got the Arena 1999 promo foil basics, which are just Urza's Saga basics but foiled, which lets me foil my basics while also having the full "[sym=tap]: Add [sym=r] to your mana pool" rules text. In all my...

I love this thread, and I love this deck. Thank you Tstorm and everyone else who has contributed. Thank you for the comment! To the topic at hand, I have a couple questions about the manabase: 1) I assume the choice of Signets over Talismans is primarily due to the need for colored mana. Yup, both ...
