Interesting card. The +1 is interesting for how it feeds the -1. And yes, the -7 works with those myr tokens you just created.
This is quite a good card. But then again, most planeswalkers are.
I wouldn't say they're necessarily "good". They fit Timmy (because of the ultimate) and Spike (because of the modes) but there are plenty of bad ones. Basically they have to be able to defend themselves, or be card advantage, a threat, or an answer in those first two abilities, or do something sui generis. (Sorin Markov in Commander taking an opponent to 10 is sui generis.)
If you don't have stuff to protect your planeswalkers, you're either playing your deck wrong, or built your deck wrong from the start.
