Interesting interpretation of this spell (and yes, it is a spell in D&D). Originally, Planar Ally allows you to "hire" an extra planar creature, usually an Angel, Archon, Devil, Demon, or Genie, and have them work for you for a little while depending on the agreement that is struck when it is summoned. Evil outsiders will of course try to fudge you over, while good ones such as Angels and Archons will refuse to do evil acts. Would have made more sense to use the name for a tutor and used one of the many types of angels for this card instead.
