Also a reference to an old horror movie called, uninspiringly, "The Blob", it's a classic.

Yeah, we've had a lot of Blob references.

Yes we have, but there are a lot of old horror movie references in this set. The "Ant" card for example is a reference to "THEM!". An old black and white horror movie about giant ants caused by nuclear tests. It is quite fitting for Innistrad.
