New Feature Update
Note for future readers: This article was posted on April 1st, and is written in jest.
We're quickly approaching our 2 year anniversary, and I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has helped make this site become the success that it is, as well as discuss all the wonderful features and products that we have in the works.
The world of NFTs and digital ownership has opened wide this year, and the possibilities are endless. For those who don't know, an NFT (or non-fungible token) is a unit of data on a digital ledger called a blockchain, where each NFT represents a unique digital item. NFTs can represent digital files such as art, audio, videos, items in video games and other forms of creative work. Basically — it's a way to own a digital item or concept.
We've partnered with some of the biggest names in blockchain technology and will soon be releasing Decklist NFTs. Whenever you create a new deck concept, you will be able to create an NFT on MTGNexus to sell that deck idea to the highest bidder. This is a wonderful way to prove deck idea ownership as well as to make a profit off of new and creative deck ideas.
At first, we will only be opening NFT creation to our Patreon Patrons and Paypal donors, but will open the system up to all users after the first few months. As the system grows and expands, we plan to also give NFT ownership over Custom Cards and Sets creations, and most other creatables we will end up offering on MTGNexus. The world of NFT ownership is endless, and we want our users to have access to the cutting edge of technological advancement.
If you've watched our weekly streams at all, you know how much we love using InfiniTokens. If you've been living under a rock and haven't heard of them before, InfiniTokens are customizable, reusable dry erase cards and counters. They have revolutionized token handling, as they work perfectly for being able to always have the right token for any situation in-game, and are adaptable to anything you or your opponent might make.
Today we announce the next stage in the token evolution: Edible Frosted Tokens. Edible Frosted Tokens (EFTs) combine the customization and adaptability of InfiniToken's dry erase tokens with the one thing every long game needs: snack time. No longer do you have to worry about erasing a bunch of cards after a callous opponent destroys your token army with a Wrath of God. In fact, if you're feeling a bit peckish, you might even encourage them to do it now, because that board wipe comes with the wonderful benefit of a cookie party! Each EFT Kit comes with two dozen small, card-shaped cookies and an assortment of frosting pens to customize and illustrate as you wish.
EFTs are low fat, vegan, and quite delicious. After the test batches first came out, we all found ourselves building token swarm decks just so we had an excuse to create huge token armies to devour after the game. We found that Krenko, Mob Boss works best for post-game quantity, while Ghave, Guru of Spores works best for in-game snacking.
The front page has had a "Coming Soon" icon for the planned Market Watch area for far too long. In the next few months, we will finally be creating that Market Watch area and offer a slew of financial information and tools. The most exciting of which will be Magic Financial Trackers, or MFTs. MFTs will integrate with the (soon to be expanded) Collection Tracker, and offer financial advice, alerts, and custom planning for your Magic Finances. MFTs will be better equipped to deal with the buyouts and fluctuations of the Magic Market than any other system created.
MFTs can see a buyout the moment it starts, to let you get in on the ground floor. Did you miss out on that Chain of Smog buyout a couple weeks ago, where the price jumped over 1000%? Next time an MFT will alert you the moment it starts, so you can join in the buyout before the price spikes! MFTs act like all-seeing stonkbrokers on the stonkmarket, but will instead work with MTGStonk's collectible cards.
Science has made amazing leaps forward in machine learning and artificial intelligence, and MTGNexus has embraced this technology and moved it to the forefront of community discussion. Using a deep neural network, we have studied countless forum threads, reddit posts, and discord discussions to produce the world's first Predictive Forum Threads. Predictive Forum Threads (PFTs) will analyze each new thread you create and respond with insightful commentary as if they were real posters. You'll get the constructive feedback you need even during the wee hours of the night when the real humans are sleeping.
After you've accumulated over 100 posts on our site, the PFTs will also post on your behalf. As new threads are created, the PFTs will copy your own personal posting style to respond to other posters on your behalf. You will become a popular poster in the community as you automatically respond to every new thread within minutes of it being made!
Our initial release will have these features be opt-in only, while these features are tweaked and adjusted. By next year, the system should be completely automated and you can have in-depth conversations with ever having to read or write a single post!
The Future is Yours
That is all of our current plans for the next two months, but the future is for you. We've adjusted our feature and tool creation process to allow a better response to the community's needs. All future features will come from user voting. The Votable Future Tools (VFTs) system will allow users to submit feature ideas on Change.org and petition other users to vote for it. With enough votes, we'll be forced to create whatever tools the community needs!
We hope you'll enjoy these new features. We look forward to seeing you around!
