Welcome spell designers! In this game, you will sell your cards to other merchants! You start with 30 gold and get 2 gold if enough people are interested in your card, but beware! If your card is too popular, the Market Council declares that you cheated on "Mana Effiency" and you don't get any gold!

- To register, pick any Two Color Combination (a guild) that hasn't been picked, and post below. These are your Expertise colors, and your designs can't use other colors. However, you may bid on cards of any color, for at the end of the game, you'll be able to make 2 decks from cards you've bought (sharing no cards between your decks.) These decks decide the final winner!

Rules:

- You start the game with 30 gold, 10 of each basic land, and 3 of each tapland.
- I'll annouce the start of each round, with a Challenge and a Floor card.
- Then you Private Message me your design.
- Once everyone has had a chance to send their designs, I'll post all the cards (including the floor card.)
- Now you may Private Message me your bids. You may bid 1-3 gold on any number of cards that interest you (including the floor card, but excluding your own card.)
- Then I'll announce the results. For each card where you matched the highest bid, you pay the gold and get a copy.
- If your card got more total gold bid on it than the floor card, you gain 2 gold... UNLESS your card is in the top 2 of gold bids. The council is very strict on mana efficiency.

We repeat until I decide players have enough cards to make decks (I'll announce this when we get near, for now, expect around 10 rounds. Your input will be taken into account.)
Then we do a final Deckbuilding round, and I'll judge the 2 best decks. Then I'll play them against each other to decide the final winner! See your cards in action!

So when making a card, If i can't bid on it myself. The only insentive i have is to make it good enough that other's bid on it, but not too much other wise i'll be taxed?

Indeed, I'd say the most important skill of this game is card power evaluation. You want to make a card just a bit stronger than the Floor card*, and you want to evaluate well the power of cards you buy, so you don't overbid or underbid on them.

*: I won't allow cards that are a copy of the floor card with a tiny upside. If the effect is similar (ie: both deal damage, or both draw cards) I'll expect at least 3 mana of converted mana cost difference, or I'll ask the player to submit another card.

Round 1

Challenge: (Private Message to me) A monocolor card which still can be of use if you only have colorless mana. (E.g. morph, cycle, or something else.)
Floor Card: Shock. (Shock will appear in the market alongside your cards. Beat it in bids to get +2 gold, unless you are top 2 in bids. And you can't just design "Shock with a small upside".)

Remember, you can still join at this stage!

I would assume so. After all, colorless cards "don't use any other colors" than your expertise colors.

Let's say by Wednesday (if anyone has trouble, try to aim at least for Friday.)
Then again if the game fills and you all submit today, the Market phase could be tonight

Super! While we wait for the final card, I'll open another player slot: the Artificer specialist. So if you join now, you can design cards of any color, but they all must have the word "Artifact" in its text. (And you must PM me the Round 1 card quickly!)

One more question.
Say we submit a card, but before they are all revealed we want to adjust an aspect of the card. Is this possible? Or is it once we PM you the card it is set in stone?

Yes, you may edit the card as long as I haven't posted it on the Marketplace. The final card has been submitted, so I'll post the Market tomorrow morning. You can edit (or join as the Artificer!) until then.

Bidding question: If pkayers tie a bid, do all of them get it?

Follow up bidding question. Who gets the gold? Say my card has four people bid 1 gold and that's the highest. Do I then get that gold?

1: Oops. Shock is an instant now.

2: Yes, all of the highest bids for a card go through.

3: No, the Magic Market Council is pretty stingy, and keeps all the profits. The only way you gain gold (for now) is +2 if your card has more total gold bids than Shock, and is not the top 2 of gold bids. (Let's say that all bids count for this "total gold", even if they don't go through.)

4: Oh, and I won't credit the designers until the Bidding results, because I'm lazy. You're allowed to announce what your card is (important if it has a problem of transcription that needs immediate addressing), but you can also PM me and I'll fix it, if you want to keep it secret.
