Asinine alliteration aside, does Denry Klin, Editor in Chief's second ability trigger upon Denry himself entering the battlefield? If so, wouldn't that put a second counter on Denry, for example making him a 4/4 if +1/+1 counters were chosen?

Yes and yes. Since Denry does not exist on the battlefield without a counter, and he is most often going to be a nontoken creature entering, he will trigger for himself.

Any of the counters can be doubled up, but only the +1/+1 counter matters if it is doubled up.
