So last week I witnessed a yorion companion deck do well with Omnath in the deck, and as the only person dumb brave enough to take a commander deck to a modern event, I noted this deck could totally be commander ready too. Ideally the deck needs to be capable of using yorion in the companion slot in modern, and in commander it gets shuffled in and omnath takes the helm.

First two cards are omnath and yorion, naturally. Further selections should be 1/person/day, with suggestions requiring three yes votes from others in the thread to get the green light. So who wants to do a group-build-a-deck for something that can play modern as well as commander?

We'll shoot for 80 main deck, with the singleton sideboard being the rest of what I'd shuffle in for commander games.

Flickerwisp seems like an easy include.

Because blink is already a viable strategy in modern (albeit fringe) I would almost surely go that way. Basically all the good blink stuff is modern legal. Ephemerate etc.

You basically want to run loam-blink-steve type stuff. If you merge an old kiki chord deck with a sun titan loam deck you'll probably get most of what you want I think.

Solitude slots in as a natural inclusion here as a creature-based removal spell that loves getting blinked by Yorion

I'll +1 both solitude, flickerwisp, and pokken's ephmereate suggestions. I think those make the most sense.

Riding the high of my first successful suggestion, I nominate Flamekin Harbinger.

It's a new day. We need yorion spam so felidar guardian is it. Cat man does it all in this deck.

Curses, why is that a $10 uncommon. Geez this deck is gonna cost me $1700 when it's all said and done 🙄😐

I'll +1 Endurance, Felidar Guardian (which generates infinite blinks with Yorion), and Flamekin Harbinger. These cards, as well as Solitude & Mulldrifter, all need just one more vote for confirmation.

Do you want to think about manabase approach early on here?

I could see it being really fun to play a Amulet of Vigor based manabase with all the karoos to keep the budget down. The only other option is fetchlands really and that's gonna get super costly

I think the mana can come last. It's fairly straightforward, and no, I don't think a one of amulet works. Maybe that dryad since it can still block early though.

You can play Trinket Mage and a variety of ways to find amulet, but if you're set on fetchland manabase it can definitely wait

Since the aim is to be modern playable, I don't think the mana base should be bad with contingence on an artifact to be good. I like karoos, but I don't think this is the deck for them.

Similar to pokken's suggestion, I'm going to recommend my favorite monster in all of Modern: Restoration Angel

Sakura-Tribe Scout for me today. Gotta get some ramp in

I'll +1 resto angel for the confirmation and trinket mage. I think there's a lot of trinkets we can find, such as pithing needle.

My suggestion for the day; Momentary Blink.

edit: I wanted to add that I'd suggest considering "Thanks" to be a +1 going forward as it's a lot easier to tabulate. Get people to put the suggestion as the first thing in the post and it'll be even easier.

I'll +1 the Sakura-Tribe Scout pick and for today, I'll name Wall of Blossoms as the card on the docket.

Not as good as Scout, but still invaluable in the deck to use the commander. Badxploration is still good enough for modern

Suggestion of the Day: Wall of Omens. If we're running Wall of Blossoms, we gotta run it's cousin too!

Also, echoing pokken's idea of using Thanks as a way to keep track of +1ing suggestions.

I have cast way more copies of Omens and Resto than is reasonably healthy in Modern, I couldn't pass up nominating my boy haha

The elemental package is excellent here no doubt. If you're going to opt for value town, then what about:

Cloudblazer
Risen Reef
Foundation Breaker
Master of Waves
Subtlety
Fury
Titania, Protector of Argoth
Wavesifter

I think Soulherder probably fits as well and maybe also Panharmonicon .

There are many others. You could also consider Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker as an option. You're already running restoration angel.

We still have Endurance, Mulldrifter, and Trinket Mage needing votes. And I'd like trinket to make it because I want to do an Artificer's Intuition package.
