Lurrus + X spells

No rulings for Lurrus of the Dream-Den yet, but I'm curious if X spells can be cast for cmc > 2 from the graveyard. The closest comparison I could find was chandra, acolyte of flame, but that seems potentially different since it checks the CMC when you target.

EDIT: while I'm at it, I'm curious whether you can cast giant killer for its adventure from your grave?

With Lurrus, you can cast a permanent spell with X in its mana cost from your graveyard if its converted mana cost would be 2 or less because of the choices you make (C.R. 601.3, 601.2b, 601.2e; see also C.R. 601.3a). See also Aluren and As Foretold. You can't cast Chop Down this way, however, since the Adventure part of the card has a converted mana cost of 3 (so not 2 or less). This is so because if you cast an adventurer card as an Adventure, only the Adventure part of the card is relevant for the purposes of effects that let you cast spells with certain qualities, such as found in Lurrus (C.R. 601.3, 715.3a; see also this thread).

No.

Lurrus of the Dream Den
For spells with {X} in their mana costs, use the value chosen for X to determine the spell's converted mana cost. For example, if a permanent spell costs {X}{W}, you could cast it with X as 1 but not as 2.

No. The ability of Lurrus will not enable you to cast Chop Down, an instant with a converted mana cost of 3.
715.3a When casting an adventurer card as an Adventure, only the alternative characteristics are evaluated to see if it can be cast.

Thanks - man, none of my googles found the release notes. Kind of annoying, you'd think it'd pop up easier. Or they'd add them to gatherer.

I assume kicker still works (i.e. with caligo skin-witch).

Additional costs (e.g., kicker) do not contribute to the mana cost, therefore they do not affect the converted mana cost.
118.8d Additional costs don't change a spell's mana cost, only what its controller has to pay to cast it. Spells and abilities that ask for that spell's mana cost still see the original value.

702.32a Kicker is a static ability that functions while the spell with kicker is on the stack. "Kicker [cost]" means "You may pay an additional [cost] as you cast this spell." Paying a spell's kicker cost(s) follows the rules for paying additional costs in rules 601.2b and 601.2f–h.

Sorry, one more question.

Morph. Cmc is 0, so can I morph with Lurrus? Does it matter if the unmorphed creature has cmc > 2?

And I know I already brought up adventure, but based on those rulings it sounds like I'd also be unable to cast Order of Midnight // Alter Fate for its adventure? Since it's not a permanent spell, even though the cmc is acceptable.

And a dumb question - how do I mark a post as "the answer"?

Yes you can cast a morph because the spell on the stack will have a 0cmc while there

Lurrus of the Dream-Den and Hydroid Krasis: The ability "During each of your turns, you may cast one permanent spell with converted mana cost 2 or less from your graveyard." can be used to cast Hydroid Krasis with X=0. If X=1, then Hydroid Krasis's mana cost XGU = 1GU, so it would be as unusable as Drakewing Krasis. Choosing X>1 would be even worse.

Lurrus of the Dream-Den and unnamed Hydra: I can not find any Hydra card with a mana cost of 2GX, but the converted mana cost would be 3+X. That would never satisfy the "converted mana cost 2 or less" condition for Lurrus's ability.
