surprised here, he did not use any anger of the gods and still won against elves. I guess winning the die roll is key.FoodChainGoblins wrote: ↑4 years ago25 person FNM. Sad times for me (again)
Round 3 vs. Ponza. This is where the salt is really going to come out. I don't like this guy in the slightest and the fact that he's 1-2 vs. me lifetime with ideal draws in all 3 matches upsets me. He wins the die roll. Why did I say that? Because he turn 2 Pillages me 4 times while I just have Llanowar Elves. Unfortunately for me, I don't draw any 1 drops this game, so I play 2 Dwynen's Elite. After he quadruple Pillaged me, he triple Bloodbraid Elf into 2 more Utopia Sprawl and Birds of Paradise, he then Glorybringer my Llanowar Elves and it's over. He was tanking on the final turn, so I told him if he has Glorybringer #2 or Bloodbraid Elf #4, I will scoop. (I almost said if he has Pillage #4, but I noticed 4 Pillage in the yard and I didn't want him to think I'm accusing him of playing more than 4 in the deck.) I guess he didn't have that or want to show me. In the next game, he turn 2 Bloodbraid Elf into Flame Slash on my mana dude and I drew no 1 drops this game, so I played a 2 drop or 3 drop each turn while he Chandra, Torch, Dismember, and then draw Kessig Wolf Run to push the Bloodbraid Elf, then the Arbor Elf, and finally a Birds of Paradise past me. I told him I didn't play enough 1 drops in my deck. 0-2.
Yeah, Anger of the Gods was something I could expect and was prepared for. I can rebuild fairly easily with Lead the Stampede, although admittedly I did not see any in all 3 games. I did have Company and 3 lands in my opener in Game 3, but I didn't find a land and I was actually not too confident in Company since I hit 1 creature (not a Lord) in game 1 (but my start was too good and he only removed turn 1 Llanowar). The Fluff wrote: ↑4 years agosurprised here, he did not use any anger of the gods and still won against elves. "do you have a 5th copy of ____ card?" is a common joke thrown around in our playgroup when someone is winning too much, :p
