Just feel super removed from the game right now... And not at all motivated to play. :woozy:
I'm motivated to play. Have mono red-prowess deck, and spike feeder combo deck ready.. but still cannot test with cousins and friends.. because the environment still discourage us from going to each other houses.

Would love to play FNMs again, but yeah, no way I'm getting into a small basement with a bunch of nerds who barely wear deodorant with the numbers we have here in Denmark lately. :( Hopefully soon though.

So I actually went through and chronicalled my MTGO collection with the intention of selling it off entirely. I found that I actually had enough random stuff that I wasn't using to pick up the W6s and Omnaths to build the Money Tribal deck. Wow does this feel stupid and powerful. This must be what playing Jund in its heyday must have felt like. There are almost no dead cards, and I can claw back and turn the corner against just about anything. This deck is NUTS.

Time Warp makes me gag a little. Also, four Celestial Purge!? I haven't been keeping up with the meta much

Straight up stole the list from someone's .... something or other result. Honestly I can't even keep track of tournaments if I wanted to. Time Warp is a spicy bit and has saved me more than once. Its synergy with basic elements like land drops making zombies as well as PWs +ing for days (or even just buying one extra untap) has been clutch. This deck is stupid. And considering it's just "a collecting of the best cards" I don't even know what to ban if WOTC decides to ban something. :explode:

As for the 4 Purge... seems to hit a lot of stuff. And there's other stuff not super concerning. It can out Titan the Titan decks, and recover against just about anything else...

I think banning Mystic Sanctuary or Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath are the top choices, although printing Omnath, Locus of Creation was probably not a good choice with the fixing in Modern.

Removal into turn 5 Omnath, fetch, Time Warp is just so freaking stupid.

That's pretty nuts as is, but even so much as a 4/4 for 4 that draws a card, slammed on turn 4 to block has saved me more than a few times.

This is totally just "$50 mythic.dec" Every card is so powerful individually, but also stupidly synergistic with each other. This would absolutely not last if paper tournaments existed.

I sold my collection almost a year ago due to the bad state of modern and mtg in general but today I was looking around on mtgtop8 to check out the meta after a friend started playing again and invited me over. All I see is still ramp and 4/5c goodstuff.... I must say I don't really feel like coming back.

I've basically cut playing modern competitively out of my budget with grad school and my upcoming wedding. However I have been having a lot of fun playing casual/budget oddball modern. Its been a good way to play.

Honestly, I knew I was taking a loss by using those nearly 300 tix of excess to buy 3 Omnaths and 3 W6s. Definitely worth it in the short term for the few super interesting games I played. Lots of back and forth, and lots of comebacks from what look like insurmountable odds. Deck is super good. And worth playing for me right now. Though, if prices spike up for any of the pieces (to recoup costs) I'll likely cash out and leave for a while. I'm not in any financial struggle (both wife and I have continued working full time, remotely) so there's not an immediate motivation to cash out.

Edit: This is not a rarity: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/4913/1y4IV8.png

I think a lot of people are taking a break from the format for various reasons, mainly because of how stale the format feels (at least among people I know). I kinda miss playing the format so I might just try and build a deck to own on MTGO. I don't know if I'll regret it or not but I miss competitive magic mostly

My friends told me that MTGO is going to allow players to have 4 of every card for 2 weeks. So, if you're interested in playing some online Modern or any other format, get on it!

Unfortunately, I found out on whatsapp from a mtg group that I played with before COVID. It's only on my phone. But I'm sure I could look it up.

It looks to cost $25.

it seems like an attempt to cash in on a lot of people using rental services now. I'm gonna be giving it a go soon, that way I can actually play the Omnath deck for a bit and try a few other decks as well

Yeah, it sounds like a pretty cool option.

So, now that almost all of Kaldheim has been spoiled, what are your guys' thoughts? Any cards have the potential to see serious Modern play?

I might be interested in that service.

I'm super interested in Pyre of Heroes or whatever it's called, already ordered a playset. Birthing Pod was my favorite deck of not just Modern but any format. I'm kind of surprised people are as negative on the card as they are looking at various discussions. They seem to all think it's too restrictive, when it in all honesty has fewer restrictions than Pod itself did in it's heyday as there's more and better Pod choices now, while locking in fewer colors.

Naturally sliding into Vizier combo is also a huge plus seeing as how Noble Hierarch has both Druid and Human as creature types. I'm far enough removed from the competitive scene at the moment since I barely play MTGO and there's still nothing in paper, that I can't guarantee the card will make a splash but I would be surprised if it doesn't.

It's really a nutso deck. Every card is gas and everything has to be fought on a different angle. Creatures, PWs, spells, lands, counters, exile removal, direct damage, it has it all. Definitely give it a go. Will make any other deck feel like garbage. Would absolutely see a ban of some sort if Modern were under any meaningful scrutiny.

well I'm about to play a modern fnm online in a few hours. First time playing modern online in months. Using my mythic ticket to play 4c Omnath. I'm interested to see how it goes. TBH I expect mirrors and blood moons. At least Omnath seems cool to play

My SB currently has 4x Celestial Purge and 2x Aether Gust. Helps a LOT

the list I copied had a 3/3 split of them. I haven't played the deck at all so I didn't wanna change it at all. I guess purge is a hard answer to blood moon though

went 1-2 drop. I could really tell I hadn't been on MTGO in months as I was awful at clock management and clicking through everything.

In regards to the Omnath deck, I definitely didn't understand this type of deck but it still feels really good, It seems like one of those decks where you can just steamroll wins due to the sheer power of the deck without playing well. My win was against Bant stoneblade and I got really ahead. I lost to tron 0-2because of not being able to interact with their plan g1 and probably would have benefited from paying attention to what lands they revealed g2. R3 lost the mirror 1-2, the games I lost were because I couldn't find out how to claw back into it.

Again, I guess my final thoughts are the deck seems like it can just win through snowballing advantage through a lot of the good cards from the past 2 years

That's rough. Tron on the draw can be a beating if they have a fast start. And the mirror is almost 100% dependant on who keeps a better opening hand and who hits more land drops. Aggressively taking them off a color helps as well (Field of Ruin/Cleansing Wildfire).
