I read that as Neil Patrick Harris and my first thought was "is there another bizarre universe beyond set that I missed, are we doing a HIMYM or Doctor Horrible crossover now?"

My second was I guess Yawgmoth looks a little like NPH, are they going to remake Mirrodin into replica of NPH?

Now that we've seen all the new praetors, I still prefer the old ones. The new ones are all small and lame. The old ones felt like giant presences with the stats and cost to match.

I think what I'm hoping for more than any card that could possibly be in this set is that Jace is among the 5 Planeswalkers that get Borg'd and Lukka isn't. That would be really funny.

• Koth, Fire of Resistance looks like a colorshifted Liliana of the Dark Realms. +2 instead of +1 and an extra starting loyalty means he's probably much stronger, although super-Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle vs super-Cabal Coffers as an ultimate is hard to compare. Probably a miss for EDH, but I like the idea of more colorshifted lands-matter commanders.
• Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines is Panharmonicon mixed with Torpor Orb. Mono-white means she probably won't see as much play in the command zone as Yarok, the Desecrated, but can see more play in the 99. In other words, 'thanks, I love/hate it' says my Brago deck.
• Jor Kadeen, First Goldwarden is a go-wide equipment commander, which is a somewhat interesting spin on the usual voltron thing. Sort of bland otherwise, but at least he's cheap. Might consider for my cube (since I've been wanting to push RW equipment).
• Slobad, Iron Goblin is neither slow nor bad, which is a pleasant surprise. Time to loop Spine of Ish Sah?
• Blue Sun's Twilight is fine, but I'm a bit low on it when Dominate exists at instant speed. I guess the clone is a nice bonus, but if I'm paying 7+ mana, Blatant Thievery seems better. Probably more of a Standard thing.

I mean part of the Geiger aesthetic is combining the grotesque with the sexual so it could be intentional.

Phyrexians almost certainly take inspiration from Geiger in their design. If not directly then somewhere down the chain.

Mirrodin always had a Giger feel to it that New Phyrexia exacerbated. There's some pretty terrifying art so far in this set [I say as someone scarred by watching the Alien trilogy at age eight].

Also, these alt arts are great...but I wish the text box was not transparent or somehow was modified to contrast with the black-and-white. Reminds me of the MID/VOW alternates, which I always found hard to read.

Not sure if anyone noticed but it looks like the UB: Street Fighter cards finally had their non-UB counterparts revealed. I might try my hand at Chun-Li, Countless Kicks/Zethi, Arcane Blademaster now.

Neat. I have been enjoying E. Honda, Sumo Champion, now Baldin, Century Herdmaster as a win-con in my Glenn, the Voice of Calm deck. Speaking of which is there any word on the walking dead stuff getting in-universe counterparts? I am not into Walking Dead or Street Fighter fandoms and play the cards for strictly mechanical reasons.

Trust me, if Junji Ito was given full freedom, he would've drawn something a LOT more horrifying. Alas, MtG must be healthy for kids!
