Dune got delayed until 2021. This makes me rather sad. I'm incredibly hyped for that movie.

Real bummer!

Though, i gotta admit, that gives me time to re-read it before its release. God, i love the universe when i was in my late teens.

I'm actually kind of okay with the delay, because I'm hoping it'll make it more likely that I can see it in theaters. It definitely seems like a "best experienced in theaters" kind of movie.

In what's been a dumpster fire of a week in many ways for MtG, there's still silver linings:

We have our moments good and bad, but this is pretty humbling. What a community we have. I'm not crying, you're crying.

Aw, what's the link? I have no facebook, and therefore cannot see. But I could use some silver linings!

P.S. I also want to briefly plug the october CCL contest over in custom cards. The theme is legendary villains, and if that great of a theme doesn't get some creative juices flowing, I can't tell you what will. Hope to see you there!

Many thanks, comrade! I love me a good silver lining, and that's a great one.

Ah, the duality of man. One minute we're at each other's throats and the next we're pooling money for underserved communities. Sometimes hope comes as freely as cynicism, c'est la vie.

Sorry, Bob got to this one first. I think at last count it ended up at over 120k. And THAT is how you spend money that could otherwise have bought an SL.

So, do some MTGNexus folk play on Spelltable/PlayEDH? I just started a couple days ago, have gotten only two games in so far, but have had a wonderful time.

Can we use this forum to discuss the Commander Legends draft format? Or is that crossing too many streams?

@Dunharrow

I'd wait at least until set release to see if the limited forum latches onto the topic. Seems a bit "Rich get richer" for the biggest format forum on the site to potentially steal that thunder.

I suppose if the Commander community is into it they can go to the limited forum to discuss. I will try it!

Update on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild playthrough. Finished it today, with pretty good completion percentage (for me anyways).
  • Freed all four Divine Beasts.
  • Remembered all 13 Memories.
  • Activated every tower.
  • Completed 85 of 120 shrines.
  • Got like around 10% of the Korok Seeds (out of 900 total).
  • Got a zero damage kill against a White-Mane Lynel.
My only complaint after finishing the game, and this is a minor one, is that Calamity Ganon was kind of easy to defeat. Most of this probably comes down to being overly prepared, but still I was hoping for a knock-out, drag down challenge. But alas, Calamity Ganon wasn't as tough as either White-Mane Lynels or Thunderblight Ganon.

Still a great game overall and one of the most defining, awe-inspiring, and rewarding game experiences I've ever had. I could probably play it for another fifty hours to get everything (as I know there are more than a few places left for me to explore), but its time for me to move on. I am really glad I finally finished it this time around.

Move on to what? I'm mainly killing time till Cyberpunk 2077 by playing The Division 2 and working on some fallout 4 stuff.

A lot of it is related to projects I've been putting off (I'm spackling tonight). I also have a book I want to read and some shows I want to watch. And I would like to at least make a dent in this stuff before mid November as Kaledash Remastered comes out then and the new Animaniacs and Hyrule Warriors both come out November 20th.

Nice, I've played the game for the first time this year and I really liked it, but as with all my games I haven't beaten the endboss yet, i've activated all the towers and completed all the shrines, freed all the beasts and then just kinda stopped playing...

Do you have any other switch games to recommend? I've played this, fire emblem three houses (finished 2 of the 4 routes so far, but i'm kinda done with it for a while), and pokemon sword (which was a huge dissapointment, the story is so flimsy compare to the first generations of pokemon). Also played Divinity original sin 2 on it, which makes me excited for baldur's gate 3.

Definitely stoked for this one, too, although I've played Divinity and its predecessor on PS myself. OS 2 I played through like....5 times so far, and haven't tired of it yet. It's just such a well-designed game. Baldur's Gate 3 looks amazing so far.

I've heard amazing things about Hades fwiw - I was just bummed it's not available on PS. From what I've heard it's a serious contender for GOTY.

I agree on Pokemon Sword & Shield. There were things I liked (the safari zones and UI improvements, plus the new pokemon), but the story was super weak and Gigantomax is basically just Mega Evolutions and Z-Moves with different names. While I did enjoy Sun & Moon and X & Y, it was mostly due to avoiding Mega Evolutions as much as I could, while there also were enough cool and fresh things to keep me interested (especially regional variants and the Faerie type). The last of the great Pokemon games was probably Black & White.

Also, is it just me, but have the rivals been getting worse with each generation. Blue/Gary Oak was the best, but they seem to lose a little edge with each new game they come out with until they are basically your best, blandest friend. Looking at you Hop.

As for Switch games, other than Fire Emblem, I really enjoyed Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It's a great party game, but I had a lot of fun doing the single player campaign mode as well. After that I had fun with Octopath Traveler, Mega Man 11, and Sonic Mania on the Switch.

Howdy all,

I've recently developed a ravenous curiosity as to the origin and intention behind our usernames/pseudonyms. No obligation, but if anyone cares to volunteer the reasoning behind why they choose to go by what they do, I'd love to hear/read it!

I mashed together a few things from places I worked at for mine:

ISB = Investigative Services Bureau (sales tax / excise tax fraud investigator)
Pathfinder = Its a 10 letter word with no repeats I used to use when I sold cowboy boots. P=1 a=2 etc. We used it as gibberish on the bottom of each boot tag to identify what the boot was purchased for so we could tell quickly offhand what the cost of the product was for us.

So, it was just sort of me mashing together a few things from some places I had worked at then. I was just sort of looking for something unique that wouldn't be claimed that had some level of meaning in my life at the time.

Caterpillars are my favorite animal. As in, I like the larva stage of butterflies more than I like butterflies. When I was in 5th or 6th grade (like 2 decades ago yikes) I was trying to sign up for some email or online video game. I don't recall which one and but "caterpillar" was taken, so a friend just recommended changing the "C" to an "M". Thus, materpillar. I was 10, so very deep stuff. Everyone always pronounces it wrong though, everyone thinks its MASTER-pillar.

Caterpillar is just a fun word to say. Materpillar just rolls off the tongue in a somewhat pleasing fashion so I've never felt particularly inclined to change it.

Caterpillars are just the best pets by the way. They're very entertaining to watch eat and immensely pretty. They require basically zero maintenance. Kids love them. Then, in a couple of weeks they cocoon up and fly away. Besides, I mean look at this guy. He's adorable!

My parents have some pretty extensive flower gardens that have a good section set aside for monarch and black swallow tail butterflies/caterpillars. It brings me great pleasure every summer to see a bunch of caterpillars eating the plants up.

I played super smash bros melee extensively in my teenage years, mainly playing Donkey Kong. I needed a screen name as I transitioned to more online games, and based it on that.
