Didn't know there was a print of this with Jace flavor text. Kind of wish they leaned into him being an illusionist more.

Anyway, it's a two-mana "-less One" with flying. Tempted to try to make it work in Illusions.dek - Lord of the Unreal makes this a hard to answer threat.

I remember brewing an Illusions tribal deck at some point in high school. Aggresive beaters like this card, but also Phantasmal Bear, Phantasmal Dragon and so on, Mistform Warchief as a cost reducer, Lord of the Unreal and Phantasmal Image as a protection, some negates to stop sweepers and Turnabout as a way to get past blockers or to intercept opponent's attack. I have never done it though, since it seemed as to high effort for what was essentially a kitchen sink meta, so I am not sure how it would play.

This actually reminded me...

One of my favorite creatures for Aluren.

easily one of the best goblins. For fun casual or serious competitive play, this card do a good job in a gob deck.

Experience counters were an interesting sub-theme -- the WRB segment actually tie together pretty well, but as they're only four cards can't really drive a deck. Too many, and it makes the "hurdle" of accumulating experience a non-burden, and too few and it's not meaningful to try and build them up over a game.

Still, I was really surprised they didn't use experience counters or Level Up in the various D&D sets.

The nice thing about Kal is that her body is alright even at experience 0 - no one is going to complain about having that out on turn four. In a deck with Kelsien, the Plague, the outlook is even better.
