Not a great rate for that effect nowadays if it ever was. I don't think
Essence Drain even makes the cut in a pauper lifedrain theme deck because there are so many better options at common.

Kinda out of color for red but I like the untap functionality. Good budget combo piece for the casual table.

yeah, good for a casual
ur storm build. Blue spells can help make this thing unblockable and do big damage. For mono red, there is
crash through for trample and cantrip.

Tec Edge is right where I want casual low powered LD to sit. I wish we would see this in more sets given how important color fixing has become in more recent sets so actually getting a wasteland effect vs a
Field of Ruin effect is huge

Agreed. I'd reprint
Tectonic Edge in any environment where I was putting any kind of land theme or the duals were particularly good just as a safety valve against decks that get overreliant on something other than spells...

Tec Edge is good at keeping manlands under control during it's time in Standard. Should still be good in the casual table.

Firebreathing can be good but not when you have to pay two mana for an activation. If you're building that "tribal" deck
Flamekin Brawler is the one-drop you'd play, surely.

I use
pygmy pyrosaur to teach beginners on how firebreathing in red works. Yeah, I know it's a bad card, but it's also for educating beginners that it is important to be also able to block. Ok, now here we have bellows lizard which can block and cost one less to cast.. but it's firebreathing is worse than the pyrosaur.

For three or four mana it'd be fine -- most boardwipes fall in that range, and you're going to lose the creature you sac anyway -- but s-s-s-seven mana?

one of the worst board wipes I've ever seen. Should have been an instant, but even being an instant won't save it from being terrible.
