So with Loot, the Key to Everything, you'd probably get 2~3 extra cards a turn without trying, consider almost every deck uses mana rock and creatures, even spellslingers. Cards like Paradox Haze and Sphinx of the Second Sun would buff that # even further..
And like Grogu of Star Wars, Loot's destiny is about as open-ended as its deck building directions. How would you folks build Loot? My first thought is tokens with an exile theme, similar to Faldorn, Dread Wolf Herald + The Thirteenth Doctor's approach. Cards like Osgood, Operation Double, Hammer of Purphoros, and Iraxxa, Empress of Mars will generate the tokens needed to keep Loot happy.

The first cards I thought of for this deck were Terror of the Peaks and Purphoros, God of the Forge. I think you want to be running a bunch of enchantments so you could even go for an enchantress subtheme. I guess you'd want a lot of artifacts also so you could do an artifact subtheme.

The "Leylines" give can be freebies to get the enchantment card type rolling early; Leyline of Abundance, Leyline of Anticipation, Leyline of Combustion, Leyline of Lifeforce, Leyline of Lightning, Leyline of Punishment, Leyline of Singularity, Leyline of Vitality.
Planeswakers and battles are going to be the rarer of the types. Of note many of these can get you two card types by producing creatures or artifacts as an ability.
The 2-3 mana are going to be better for getting your card type rolling, plus being able to cast them efficiently when exiled.
Jace, Cunning Castaway, Kasmina, Enigma Sage, Lukka, Bound to Ruin, Nissa, Voice of Zendikar, Oko, Thief of Crowns, Saheeli, Sublime Artificer, Tibalt, Rakish Instigator all give you multiple card types.
Wrenn and Six, Dack Fayden, Jace Reawakened, Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner, Narset, Parter of Veils are all decent at card advantage.
Jace, Vryn's Prodigy, Nissa, Vastwood Seer give you flexibility on card types.
Invasion of Kaladesh gives you 3 card types.
Invasion of Segovia, Invasion of Ergamon give 2.
Invasion of Ikoria could give 3 card types for X=1 if you played one of these Eidolon of Philosophy, Fang of Shigeki, Hypnotic Siren, Nyxborn Rollicker.
Invasion of Pyrulea and Invasion of Tarkir are decent at 2 mana.
Enchantment creatures give you 2 cards types. As well as the 1 mana ones for efficiency I like Destiny Spinner, Moon-Circuit Hacker, Sanctum Weaver, Shigeki, Jukai Visionary.
Oh yeah also "Tribal" is a type, so options are; Altar of the Goyf, Boggart Shenanigans, Cloak and Dagger, Diviner's Wand, Eldrazi Conscription, Eyes of the Wisent, Lignify, Merrow Commerce, Obsidian Battle-Axe, Rebellion of the Flamekin, Thornbite Staff, Veteran's Armaments.
Of these I think Eyes of the Wisent and Lignify can be played no matter what.
Mishra's Bauble, Urza's Bauble are givens.
Crimson Kobolds, Crookshank Kobolds, Kobolds of Kher Keep, Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh. Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere give 2 card types and backing up the inclusion of these cards with Gaea's Cradle.

That reminded me, Thopter Spy Network and Saheeli, the Gifted are both in a way three types in one card. Servo Schematic literally adds two types right before Loot comes out. Given artifact creatures' colorless nature and abundance in token form, they appear to be the easiest path to go.
That said, do we really want to impulse-draw more than 3 cards a turn? Given that you can only play those cards this turn, you can't even add too many protective instants into the deck. It'd mostly going to be permanents and sorcery stuff to maximize the impulse-draw. Then the more you play, the more you lose after a board wipe, which means we need permanents like Akroma's Memorial, Darksteel Forge, and Asceticism to protect our stuff where exiled instants cannot.
It's also possible to go Jason Alt's Xyris route, where he amasses huge amount of mana via tokens then finish the game with X spells.

Joke deck idea: get the maximum amount of Loot loot with a single permanent. One with the Stars + Mycosynth Lattice + March of the Machines + Ashaya, Soul of the Wild? I guess you'll also need some kindred planeswalker battles too, since there aren't any ways to turn something into one of those card types (yet). Throw in Spy Kit for good measure.

Unfortunately Loot, the Key to Everything says nonland permanents, so Ashaya, Soul of the Wild would end up nullifying them all.Mookie wrote: ↑1 month agoJoke deck idea: get the maximum amount of Loot loot with a single permanent. One thing that's going to be a struggle with this deck is that loot only urgently impulsively draws; you only have a turn to do it. So things that let you get rid of cards fast are going to pay dividends.
* Exploration effects are enchantments that help you get use of lands you exile with Loot's ability. I think extra land drop effects will pay off massively with Loot, especially Dryad of the Ilysian Grove
* Cheap cantrips let you convert impulsed cards into real cards, e.g. Wall of Blossoms. Enchantresses do similar duty.
* Things like The Great Henge let you convert cheap creatures into cards, and are probably a reasonable idea
* cost reducers, especially like Herald of the Pantheon type effects will be good, since you'll likely be wanting to multi-spell
* Loot's ability also synergizes strongly with Possibility Storm and Knowledge Pool effects, allowing you to cast spells off the top that bypass the restrictions of those effects. Those effects, also, are card types
There are likely a lot of other things that could benefit from casting things from exile of course.
