Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Collective resistance is amazing. Only 3 mana, you can chose 3 modes, or you can escalate it. We're at the point where the artifact/enchantment removal package for a green deck may be [card]collective resistance , Archdruid's Charm , and Boseiju, Who Endures [/card] and Nature's Claim gets cut. Fun...

This doesn't have that pesky word "another" so can it target itself with the death trigger to send it to the top of library?

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

It kinda reads more like a Mana Reflection + Phyrexian Arena since you get the mana on your turn for creatures and sorceries. Which sounds pretty good in that context. I almost think the complexity of "beginning phase" is turning some players away, where reading it like "Untap all pe...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Shadow of the Second Sun basically feels like an auto-include for a lot of blue decks. It essentially pays for itself with the extra untap step as long as you play it on Main Phase 1. I haven't seen Sphinx of the Second Sun much. This is cheaper and more resilient, but it's still a lot of mana for ...

Re: SCD: Rhystic Study

Doesn't this apply to all sources of card draw? There're a ton of card draw options that either get you specific cards or get you a bunch of cards right now, or let you look at a lot of cards. Or convert at a much higher rate. Personally I'm far more on bomb draw these days just because I'd rather ...

Re: Diminishing returns on "better" cards

Eventually if a deck gets worked on enough, it reaches a point of optimization that it will take a complete retool of the core synergy of the deck to make a dramatic difference in play style. Many of my decks are like that as well, and even those incremental upgrades can take several outings to reve...

That is what I expected. I however, am playing other cycling cards with little additional value besides a relevant body so if it's budget I might give it a try.

Re: Sefris of the Kind of Obvious Ways

yeti1069 what do you think of Nulldrifter here? It doesn't work with Reveillark , but I generally don't find myself pointing Seffris triggers at Mulldrifter after evoking. Annihilator 1 is not all that impressive, but same Evoke cost with a body 2x the size and Annihilator 1 might make it a decent ...

Re: [MH3] Ulalek, Fused Atrocity - Eldrazi Flash, but not what you think!

But how do you win?

Also with only 10 eldrazi enablers you might want some tutor or extra recursion to ensure you can do-the-thing more than once or twice. 10 enablers is by no means a guarantee to have them when you need them.

What does Lantern of Insight do here?

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Cast triggers are cringe. On your opponents side it's less easy to interact with and on your side there are a lot less interesting uses for them. It makes sense on the eldrazi titans, getting to [sym=12] only for it to get countered is a feel bad, and they'd be a lot more popular to cheat in to pla...

Re: Building solidarity in commander

For you, probably Yusri because he is cheap, evasive, draws cards with absolutely no outside support from the rest of your deck, has some self-deprecation in the shocks which makes opponents think that you are killing yourself, and is generally not doing anything that cannot be seen by just reading ...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Incoming rant I can't tell you how annoyed I am that the card I have been asking for going on 10 years now ended up with a cast trigger instead of the standard ETB trigger  . Sowing Mycospawn is a [sym=3][sym=g] 3/3 creature that can tutor for ANY land into play tapped. But the thing is a stupi...

Re: SCD: Rhystic Study

Even good players don't pay for Rhystic all the time (myself included) because as stated above, you cannot afford to not do things while everyone else does. And no one is going to always pay the 1 and treat it like a Thorn of Amethyst for all spells. Reliability is definitely a factor, but in practi...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Journeyer's Kite

Unfortunately, or not, this is not good anymore. But I'm actually not sad to not have to play this because it never felt like a good card in the first place. Not like other staples of old that felt powerful, and now are outdated to power creep. This card always felt slow, but in some colors was a ne...

Re: Ephara, God of the Polis - Flash & Taxes

That's fair. For me it ultimately depends on the game state and the motivation. I once had a blazing fast start in Titania thanks to a Scorched Ruins , so I know how powerful these types of lands are. But generally if land are just making an extra mana or two, it's not worth going down a land yourse...

Have you considered other Titania ( Titania, Voice of Gaea ) and Argoth, Sanctum of Nature as part of your 99 as another method of recurring lands from the graveyard en masse? Even pre-meld, she helps keep your life total up and she's big enough to trigger the card draw elements looking for power 3...

EMBRACE TRADITION, PLAY KARADOR. Just have the grindiest possible card in the 99. karador lands is the future, while holding to the past Oh I am fully in the Karador camp. Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

the cycling makes it way more narrow, can't use it for Titania, Protector of Argoth etc. so panos still have some utility. That is utterly annoying. Few changes and a little land utility to discuss. IN Force of Vigor|97680 >> OUT Krosan Grip : Sad day to pull the last Krosan Grip from a deck, but casting for [sym=0] without split second is going to be more useful than casting for [sym=2][sym=g] with it. I forgot about Krosan Verge + Triomes, which gets all 5 colors across 2 lands. Depending on if you consider this a "Fetch", but it is the best fixer in 5-color triomes and now I'm not sure I even have it in my deck. Will fix that soon.

Re: making multiple monocolor decks

I don't think I could have more than 2 mono-color decks in the same color. Even 2 is a stretch because I don't play enough magic to get enough enjoyment out of 2 decks in the same color identity. And I like multi-color too much to have any mono decks in the same color. Right now I have almost the co...

Re: Karador, Ghost Chieftain - Quest for Control

I like Honest Rutstein better than Savvy Trader . It is 1 cheaper, only gets creatures back and only reduces cost of creatures, but let's be honest, we are primarily casting creatures from the GY, so I think the cost reduction is comparable, and I think the limitation to creatures only recursion is ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Isildur's Fateful Strike

Living Death = Probably one of the most compact win conditions for GY decks outside of straight combo. Been using is in Karador for years and it is my #1 way to win the game. I have gotten a little greedy with the self mill, but so far that deck is the only all-in GY deck in the meta, so not enough...
