Re: SCD: Nadu, Winged Wisdom

I'm glad they put a limit clause on this card but it's still going to be really obnoxious. Pretty sure that it's gonna be in the same situation as Kinnan and Chulane though where people hopefully know better.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Urza's Ruinous Blast

It hasn't really worked out for me. Turns out clearing the field of everything but your opponent's most important cards I.E their commanders offers hardly any respite.

Re: [SCD] Herigast, Erupting Nullkite

Serum Tank is somewhat obscure but solid draw source with all the artifacts you'll tend to run, especially if you can produce treasures. Unless you care about counters for some reason, I can't think of any reason to play the card over Arcane Encyclopedia - which is itself not an impressive card in ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Journey to Eternity

I don't really have a home for it but I'm still holding on to a few copies in the event that I do because this card is sweet in the right deck.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Consecrated Sphinx

Sure its pay-off is potentially busted but the card has such a rightfully horrible reputation it's always, ALWAYS gonna eat a removal spell before you get many cards from it (If any at all). At this mana range I'd always just rather just cast a Recurring Insight or Sea Gate Restoration // Sea Gate, ...

Re: How many layers of sleeves do you use?

I've sat across from a non-sleeves user too. The dude was playing Edric, Spymaster of Trest and it was not a budget deck. Carried in a sandwich bag. Held together with rubber bands. We were subjected to worn out copies of Tropical Island , multiple fetch lands, Urza's Saga Exploration , and Alliance...

Re: How many layers of sleeves do you use?

The Ur-Dragon is the only deck I have that's double sleeved because it's running the 10 fetches, the 10 shocks, crucible, and a good number of other cards that ain't cheap. My other decks are single sleeved because swapping cards in and out of double sleeves are slightly more annoying and also sing...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Hall of Gemstone

It seems like a mean floodgate at a glance and then you realize that most multicolored decks have a primary color so it's gonna annoy your opponents enough to band together and kill you, but it's not going to really stop them from playing the game. A really janky anti-counterspell tech card at best.

That Ulamog alone makes me thankful that these decks are gonna be scalped to the point where you'll hardly see these cards. It has been a while since I have seen a card so brutally determined to make a single player have an absolutely rotten game.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Bogardan Hellkite

Still a decent card to me, though not obviously not a first pick in any dragon focused strategies. Scourge of Valkas, Terror of the Peaks, and Red Dragon are fine enough Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm clone spam OTK options as is.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Cloudstone Curio

Oh hey one of those cards that essentially tell the table exactly what you are planning to do and that by casting this card you have forfeited your right to complain when we kill you.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Counterspell

It's honestly still a fine card. A lot of commander players only think they really need to splurge on more meta picks like Flusterstorm and Force of Negation because of internet stuff like EDHRec and Youtube but you'd be amazed at how often this less than a dollar common card can still save your butt.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Necrotic Hex

Tuesday, February 20th, 2024; Necrotic Hex Necrotic Hex Can't complain, honestly. Wipe + army-in-a-can. Seven mv is fine for this effect given the w versions are 5-6 and only leave behind a single body. Can't complain either, it's a really fun boardwipe. I'd rather be in a game where this actually ...

That sounds really fun, though it'll cost you every turn since the equipment will fall off of him eot when he stops being a creature.

Still worth it though.
This is EDH you're supposed to do dumb things instead of win :P

Also yeah today's card exists I guess.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Helm of the Host

Yeah its expensive and clunky but I love this card. I love slapping this on a dragon form Sarkhan the Masterless and I love my opponent looking over at my field on their turn when they calculate their attacks and immediately displaying the body language of "Oh F- no".

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Kaalia of the Vast

I feel like this card (And Atraxa) actually embodies the EDH community quite well. Like, she's both among of the most iconic and popular commanders while also among the most hated commanders all at the same time. I'm guess sure she's aged surprisingly well? What with recent haymakers like Ancient Co...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Pact of the Serpent

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Taigam, Ojutai Master

I get they wanted to make cards for both Bad Present Taigam and Other Bad Present Taigam but the fact that he's a human makes him kind of one of the first cuts anyone would make when modifying their Draconic Domination precons. Time has gotten even worse for him as dragon support as we have a ton of...
