Re: Things That Go Click — Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient
30 Lands is way too few. Even cEDH builds run 34ish; with this, I'd go up to 38. What weltkrieg said. Not including mana doublers, I count his sources of mana (accelerants and lands) as 44 (31 lands as valakut is under win conditions). This is probably enough, but I agree that 2 or 3 more lands is ...

Re: Navigating players' pet peeves...
@Henlock @Treamayne
Wow, those players would probably hate me. For me, making weird obscure cards playable is one of the biggest draws of Commander as a format. People in my group have learned to respect cards like Heartseeker, Outmaneuver, Dying Wish, or Avarice Totem.

Things That Go Click — Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient
In building my decks, my end goal is "strong but fair". In other words, I want to win, yes, but not at the expense of fun. For me, that means: No infinite combos No MLD Very few discard/countermagic/tutors Try to limit format staples only to decks they fit mechanically or thematically The...

Re: Tormod + Prava - Tokens with +1 counters.
bobthefunny I personally would go for option 2). And not just double down on creatures, but double down on tokens. The deck does seem a bit unfocused ATM, which is strange considering both generals do token things. Athreos, Teysa 1.0, Ayli, Luminarch Ascension, Anointed Procession... Along with Tor...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Slate of Ancestry
Hmm, should I consider this for Zirda, the Dawnwaker? The decklist is very much in its infancy, but activation for might be the push this little baby needs. Of course, the prime draw engine is going to be Diviner's Wand

Re: Tormod + Prava - Tokens with +1 counters.
bobthefunny Watching an episode of SCG's Commander Vs. made me realize these two would also do good work: Syr Konrad, the Grim — Has the same trigger as Tormod plus a bunch of others, he works with tokens, and he damages all opponents through a clogged-up board. Seems like a natural fit. The Cauldr...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Ranar the Ever-Watchful will go straight into my Brago, King Eternal Tokens and Enchantments build. I can only imagine how many Tokens he can possibly amass late in the game. The "one or more" clause makes him significantly worse, unfortunately - you only get one token per Brago trigger. ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Snake Umbra
Seriously, what you're describing is nothing short of Magical Christmas Land. I'm going to suggest that you are wrong and just not in the mood (for outside observers, I'm quoting Antis' signature for fun, not just being a jerk), and then let this be since it was already not actually the card of the...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Snake Umbra
How many other pingers can scale to kill indefinitely large targets? Without tapping? How many of those random X spells can spread to multiple targets? Some. Over multiple turns? Few. How much graveyard hate does red get? Not a lot. And this is all one card. You're taking a command, and judging it ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Snake Umbra
The only person I've ever seen play Kumano is me in my Torbran deck. That's a shame, the card is awesome. He needs support, though. I don't think he's worth a slot it on his own. If you play pingers, he's kinda over the curve at 5CMC. If you want him for damage, well, any random X spell will probab...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Snake Umbra
In Gruul, you can slap this sucker on Kumano, Master Yamabushi and go to town. The only person I've ever seen play Kumano is me in my Torbran deck. I think Goblin Sharpshooter would be a good candidate. Slimefoot, the Stowaway sounds good, or, staying in those colors, one could simply enchant Thras...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
The +1 is sorta meh You don't think a repeatable, near-foolproof way to protect a creature from going to graveyard/exile will be good in Commander ? Saving on tax seems like a big deal to me. Remeber Derevi? Sure, this is not as good, but still, the advantage is there. I mean, say you've already ca...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
I love everything about Rampage of the Valkyries , top to bottom. The all around flavor, the art, the actual card, the flavor text...everything about that card is pure win. They know what they printed Liesa, Shroud of Dusk for. I mean, it's a Serra Angel|4ED with a tribal Grave Pact grafted on it. W...

Re: Ever wondered how to Shrike?
Gotcha. It's fun as a Commander deck, too. Like I said in the writeup, it's a more interesting, more friendly Uril. And I've had a Uril player in my group for many years, so I know what I'm talking about when I say that.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Pyre of Heroes — Yeah, hard pass. Survival and Pod get really boring really fast. If I wanted to play the exact same cards every game, I wouldn't be playing Commander.

Re: Ever wondered how to Shrike?
Thanks! The Eidolon seems interesting. On-theme card draw always is. Yeah, I haven't really checked the newer sets too thoroughly, yet, since I only rarely can go out and play these days. Stupid 2020.
You mean like a 60-card deck?

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
The Saga is so awesome! Exactly what Boros needed! Red has been more and more okay on the draw side of things as sets went on, but most of the playable cards in that arena are one card/turn deals. A bigger draw spell like this is a dream come true.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Torment of Hailfire
As I see it played, they definitely overdid it with that "each opponent" part. If this card was single target, I'd say that would be properly balanced. The effect is basically your choice of one-sided board wipe/empty hand/death, and that's when the X is low. When it gets to around nine or...

Re: Navigating players' pet peeves...
Ohh, this is a good topic! ...hated mill effects...hated theft effects...interacts with his board..." All of these sound way exaggerated to me. I mean, as long as someone isn't comboing out, those things don't even mean you're necessarily in trouble. I think you're right to talk to those player...

Re: Tormod + Prava - Tokens with +1 counters.
I finally had the time to take a closer look at your list and I have some more cards I'd suggest to solve the various issues you mentioned: Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim — This one seems perfect for this deck. She's a two-mana creature who can get you some life back by herself, or a ton with Prava and her B...
