I guess this isn't a surprising sentence but mmm this combines ridiculously with Monastery Mentor <3 accidentally had them out at the same time in some old edh enchantress deck and was kinda gasping about how broken it was

when it comes out of a booster you just stare skeptically at it though :3 wow it's like Necropotence but it locks you out of the game instead of making you win? bargain!

that original Lorwyn 5 planeswalker cycle is still the most readable one. they got more complicated than this, and I disliked the concept at the time but looking back, I appreciate the way they aren't SQUEEZED for VALUE. they just do appropriate stuff.

i also love most of the WAR walkers cos they're similarly encapsulated. Ajani, the Greathearted is a fave both in terms of mechanics and template. I just can't read these stuffed cards anymore x3

when your card gets to this level of squish I usually just pass over it in the spoiler and never find out what it does. it's partially the fault of the planeswalker frame and partially the fault of the computer-programming like mtg card syntax, especially when it comes time to create a token or search the deck.

edit: as an example, imagine this planeswalker card if its first ability was phrased something like "Initial loyalty: your land count", the sheer increase in font size would be very welcome!
