Yea to Farseek, Living Death, Deathmantle. I like Expunge but think we can do better with our removal, even if it doesn't cycle.
In regards to ramp, are we looking to be more non-creature based? If that's the case, we could probably swap out Faeburrow Elder when we get to cuts for something like Cultivate/Kodama's Reach.
Looking at our color distribution, my pick for today is Skyshroud Claim. Untapped duals are where it's at.
EDIT - I'm 100% behind putting Siege Rhino in later. That card is a house.

@3drinks No it was not my nomination, it had only been 13 hours for me so I couldn't nominate. As is, we have 4 discard outlets and that might be enough to deal with the occasional Zetalpa in our opening hand. Maybe we can play some lands that loot?
I will nominate Migration Path for obvious reasons. 4 mana ramp is a bit awkward but we are 3 colors and need extra mana to cast our general and flicker in the same turn.
I will Yay Expunge.

We need ramp and recursion.
'm nominating Wood Elves
Yay on Farseek, but I think we might be using mostly creature-based ramp.

Is this a not Sol Ring deck? We have ouphe and a lot of color pips so the ring may be ineffective.
We should also decide on if we want artifact ramp, creature ramp, ritual ramp, or land ramp. I think this is why 3drinks started with ramp first when attempting to hammer out a strategy, so we could make these kinds of decisions.
Since we seem to be leaning towards more stable land ramp in suggestions so far, I will nominate Three Visits with the expectation the next posters bring nature's lore, skyshroud claim, into the north, and etc for that sweet nonbasic fetch ability.

A few confirmations. I too get the feeling that anything that isn't ramp needs to get nay'd on general purpose. We let this get away from us as I had feared from a 3c midrange creature deck. Bare minimum we revisit them in the final edit phase, alongside that Siege Rhino discussion. So I'm voting yay on these ramp spells, though I think Indatha Crystal is weak coming from an Abzan deck, and that's worth a nay from where I'm sitting. I'd take a Savai Crystal in a similar deck...but

I typically shoot for a start of 38 lands in my personal lists. This deck looks to be slow and mana heavy, so I'd imagine it should start at least there. Maybe even at 40-42.

Migration Path has been confirmed.
As if it wasn't obvious, I'm going to yay for Nature's Lore.
Today's card will be Into the North since there's four duals this card can get, and there's no downside to it, this would be a strict upgrade from a Rampant Growth.

I imagine we're going to be shifting this stuff into some of the bloated creature slots. So we're gonna aim for 12-14 to assure a reasonable chance of seeing one by t2.

Wood Elves yay I love creature based ramp in green decks. Specially those with some recursion in it
Three Visits yay
Indatha Crystal nay - I'm not a fan of artifact ramp in green decks
Nature's Lore yay
Into the North yay
I've upvoted every ramp I could becouse we need it badly. But I'd rather have our ramp be creatures. I'll put Yavimaya Dryad as my pick for today. It gets any forest type card which can be super relevant for fixing and can be reanimated for value.
For the redux version I'd like to put Karametra, God of Harvests up for debate. She ramps whenever a creature ETBs and she has indestructible which is a keyword we arent full of

@duducrash Karametra only ramps on cast, so not as good as an ETB ramp creature for our deck.
Yay Skyshroud claim, Wood Elves, nature's lore, three visits
Nay Crystal and Into the North. I don't like Into the North because we have so many ETB tapped lands with the cycling lands that also adding the snow duals seems incorrect.
I am going to submit a land today, because we have a lot of ramp now and I am not sure where it will end.

A fair few confirmations.
Also going to yay Ash Barrens.
Going to hard nay Rejuvenator, and I have a lot to say. Namely...why. You're on three which is already instantly worse than Yavimaya Granger/Yavimaya Dryad. But worse because it doesn't search, only digs five so has propensity to whiff. Worse than Sylvan Ranger at higher mv for less return. And at three there's the ubiquitous Yavimaya Elder that is also going to vastly outperform this card. There's so many options for this effect, in these colours, that I can't imagine we're ever going to be so deep, so hard up for this effect that this is the next playable card for this effect.
For today's card, I nominate Murmuring Bosk. I think we're in the phase of suggesting just lands now.

Even looking at the mana, how many tap duals are we on? Triome, Murmuring Bosk, snow x3(4), krosan verge, and...dakmor salvage? I count 6-7 tap lands + a dredge land that really shouldn't be counted as land, which I believe is more than an acceptable cost given how powerful it is to fetch up duals like this.

We have ramp spells at more mana that are putting lands on the board tapped. We have other tap lands, but what does it matter that we're getting Arctic Flats or Snowfield Sinkhole, especially at the efficient bargain rate of ? These prior ramp spells are fixing one colour, or two @ four mv. But these are okay while the two mv one that fixes two colours suddenly isn't? I don't understand the logic behind that. It's not like we're playing the strictly inferior Rampant Growth|MIR, or mana inefficient Untamed Wilds|7ED. I feel like this is going to go back to the whole snow is functionally superior because there's no incentive to not use snow discussion. I believe it's a great conversation to have, however, because this is going to crop up in every deck we get.

Aren't we putting cycling lands? Barren Moor, Desert of the Indomitable, Drifting Meadow ... those cycles make 9 lands, then triome and Scattered Groves.
maybe we don't need all of them, but they all seem pretty good in this deck.
If not, then I am fine with the snow mana and into the north.

So at one point I'd think we would have, but as mana has evolved over the years, I don't think that stuff is as prevalent. Especially the ONS lands since we really, rally want to cycle them so we should probably count them as spells rather than lands. Overall, I think we need more cycling spells, and then we can let the mana base sort itself out. Rather than force the mana to carry the cycling load at the expense of being less efficient and harder to hit our pips on time. The longer these games go, the more value we get out of our mana fixing here.

In my Karador deck I run Scattered Grove, Triome, and the 3 lands from the Barren Moor cycle. I love them with dredge, especially Life from the Loam.
If it were me, this deck would run all three cycles, and even some ravnica bounce lands, because I love building for synergy.
But I do get that they are slow and don't fix your mana.

I feel like we run the Onslaught lands, the triome, scattered grove and Ash Barrens. The Urza's Saga ones (Drifting Meadow, Slippery Karst, etc.) would be the next runners up, but that's a lot of CIPT lands, synergy or not.
EDIT - yea Murmuring Bosk, Into the North and Ash Barrens.

Today's card is Indatha Triome. Pretty straight forward. I really don't like doing lands this way, but it wouldn't be community build if I just filled in the mana and presented the deck as finished, right?

The only caveat was mana lands should be limited to ~$9 USD, otherwise we'd be here for weeks with each person suggesting a single fetchland. Iirc, that's gonna keep most of the shocks out, but maybe there's a couple that make the cut.Dunharrow wrote: ↑1 year agoso like are we actually going to propose lands one at a time?

Not sure about everyone else, but seeing the decrease in traffic in this thread now that we've reached the lands, it might be better if you pencil something down first @3drinks. Then we can go from there.
If other folks are stoked to build the manabase, simply ignore this comment. It's just that this part feels the most paint-by-numbers to me, also due to the budget restriction (which I agree with).
