Stockpile is pretty bad. It wants you to discard action? Like... maybe a Chainer deck would run it... or Scarab God? I just think there are better ways to discard your reanimation targets.
Don't like that you have to discard creatures.

I seem to have no memory whatsoever of this card even existing....
I can help translate this card if someone needs it

it says discard a zombie card: draw a zombie. if the discarded zombie was a zombie, then zombie tapped.

thank you thank you very much

this works hard with lord of the undead but who wants to pay 4 for a 2/2 tapped zombie token at the end of turn before your turn

they need to make a instant - zombie spell called necromancers undead, that is 2bb put a tapped 2/2 zombie token into play

Cutesy in reanimator, but, IMO, not really good enough to fit anywhere. Maybe Varina, Lich Queen, since she just wants more bodies?

Or, maybe one of these new piles spawned by the madness precon?

Necromancer's Stockpile is pretty straightforward in what it does - it allows you to cycle creature cards, and likes zombies. The fact that you only get tokens when discarding a zombie card limits it significantly though, as is the tension from needing to discard creatures. Could be a passable discard outlet for Madness creatures, although better ones exist. The most common way to use it is often going to be alongside a self-recursive creature like Squee, Goblin Nabob or Sanitarium Skeleton to generate card advantage.

The best usage for it is likely alongside Shambling Shell - Dredge means you can redraw it repeatedly, which makes Stockpile into a repeatable self-mill / token producing engine.

just needs to say → instant - zombie

I like where you are going with that though. having a option to kill a creature really sweetens the "cbd"

having necromancer's stockpile, lord of the undead, our "theoretical card" in hand, and we have ourselves a pretty cool state. this seems possible as its not a degenerate 3 card combo

and also compliments on your ability to hash out logical cards as if your brain is a super magic card database (unless you look them up but either way give credit where credit is do haha)

I suppose giving all your creature spells Cycling 1B is a relevant thing, for sure. Though not being real cycling means I can't trigger astral slide with it.

All I did was a search for instants that make zombie tokens. :)

There are worse effects than "Creature cards you control have cycling 1b." I know I've considered this in reanimation heavy lists before and don't think I've ever actually played it.

Well, 2bb for a 2/2 is actually better than Heliod, God of the Sun, though Heliod's clerics trigger constellation (but can also be killed with more wipes because they're enchantments and only 2/1), and Lord of the Undead also gives it +1/+1. You do net a card out of that little trick too.

Also, since when does black get looting? I mean, green used to but I'm pretty sure black never did.

Reanimator can use it, if you're for some reason short on discard outlets. (Which should really not be a problem: Reanimator generally needs few discard outlets, though it does need some. And, oh yeah, spellshapers exist.)

Oh, I run Necromancer's Stockpile in my Chainer list and it has done a lot of work for me. It's quite innocuous on the table, so it's almost never a target for removal, and the ability to replace a bunch of cards from hand and then reanimate them has been nice - the tokens are a nice little bonus, obviously. As long as you remember whether you've got Necropotence on board, it's quite nice. :)

Hahaha! Well, Necropotence's exile-on-discard is a trigger, so if you're prepared to immediately reanimate with Chainer you can still do it.

I've seen this do decent things in The Gitrog Monster and Titania, Protector of Argoth decks.

I think it's a mediocre card anywhere else. I know enough players that would argue that it's great as a Plan B, whenever you might be one mana short for anything. But there are plenty of other colorless lands i'd run before it.

My friend who runs a somewhat budget all-in Narset deck runs this card. It'll probably get cut as he aqcuires a etter land as it's been mediocre even there, even if it's not awful. It can give you Narset a turn earlier, which is nice if you have a haste outlet, but incase you don't win on the spot you're setback too much for me to consider this card worth it.

I've never run or considered the card myself. If it sac'ed for colored mana it'd be more interesting.
I swap decks a lot
wr Avacyn with defensive blinking
ur OG Jhoira spellslinger without MLD or eldrazi
and some other stuff that are more or less messy

Best card

It was easily one of the best lands in my short-lived Titania deck. I can't believe just how good that was. Typically now, you need a reason to be playing this over other options, including over Blasted Landscape. Tough sell without synergies.

I see Crystal Vein being played in two types of decks.

Land-sacrificing decks such as The Gitrog Monster and Titania, Protector of Argoth are somewhat self-explanatory - Titania and Gitrog both benefit from lands sacrificing themselves, and often have recursion such as Life from the Loam or Ramunap Excavator to mitigate the downside.

The other category of deck that I see Crystal Vein in is all-in combo decks, where your goal is to end the game before the downside becomes relevant. These decks will play it alongside other fast mana options, such as City of Traitors, Simian Spirit Guide, and Lotus Petal. You do need to be pretty all-in though - think along the lines of T1 Crystal Vein + Lotus Petal → Show and TellOmniscience.

I suppose there is also some argument for playing it in a colorless deck, although I imagine there are other utility lands with higher upside. I don't think I would play it elsewhere - the small burst of mana when you sacrifice it is a pretty minor upside for most decks when compared with the value of other colorless utility lands such as Strip Mine or Winding Canyons.

If you're playing something where you want to sac lands or put lands in the graveyard in general, it's a shoo in. It has value elsewhere as well, but mostly decks that depend heavily on colorless mana or have an easy way to recur it. I'd give it a thumbs...to the side. It's not really good or bad in most decks, and it's amazing where it is, though most of those times I'd prefer a fetchland.

Obvious synergy with land based commanders is obvious but I find myself putting this land more often in all sorts of decks, especially in those decks that i want to cast my commander as fast as possible (Urza for example).

Spirit Bonds is a sweet card that I really wanted to work in my Teysa deck, but eventually cut. The base case - pay a one mana kicker for every creature spell for a spirit token - is really attractive. Unfortunately, my pursuit of value meant that I would try to get the kicker on as many creatures as possible, which kept throwing off my curve. I eventually cut it for Oketra's Monument, then cut the Monument as well. I've reworked my manabase somewhat since then, so maybe I should try it out again? Hmmm....

I also almost never activated the second ability, again because the mana cost would throw off my curve.

Spirit Bonds is certainly a good token producer, but you really want it in a deck that has mana to spare. Alternatively, it makes a decent late-game mana sink. Being an ETB trigger (and not a cast trigger) means it also works well alongside blink and reanimation effects - it does some pretty interesting things with Reassembling Skeleton.

I really like this card, but I haven't found a home for it. There are so many spirit token cards already that I feel like this has to be worthwhile somewhere.

I might put it in Adriana, Captain of the Guard, since she likes having small evasive creatures that didn't cost me a card, and would also probably want the indestructible clause.

I played it just in Alesha. It was...nice. holding up 1w/1ww every turn was a bit rough, but I guess not really because it let me swing with impunity to get my triggers?

It's not an auto-in card by any means, you have to have some incentive to justify this, however.
