Eternal Dragon was a format staple in white back in the day. Cycle it away early game and have a credible threat in the late game. I have not played it in years because 12 mana for a 5/5 flyer is not an acceptable rate even from the graveyard. Good card that just doesn't measure up in today's Commander format.

Potentially useful in RW or Mono White. It does search up duals, so still perfectly fine as a mana fixer.

Maybe good in Karador to fix mana and add a creature to the graveyard, but I don't play it in my deck.

I love this card to death, but haven't played it in forever. I used to have very slow mono-white control piles that would try and grind out games with this, Evangelize, and other value cards.

Part of me misses how primitive decks were back in the early days of EDH.

I used to play it in my Cycling Zur deck, but it's too slow an engine for it to be amazingly efficient. I think I ran it for a while when I built Sylvia&Khorvath where once again it was used as a ramp tool more than as an actual creature.

I think right now it's in my Nahiri, the Harbinger-Breath of Life Oathbreaker. Not a bad card by any means, but if you want a threatening flyer there's better and if you want landcycling there's also better.

Well, it has plainscycling, but you're probably approaching the top of your curve soon after it recurs itself, and certainly by the time you have seven mana.

As a cycling card, it's okay. Not good, not bad, but okay.

I should probably be playing this in miraculous Kaalia, tbh. It's nice to be able to "draw" a plains fetch and it does provide extra shuffles, which is an effect I value here. It's certainly not the worst thing I could be doing.

And that SCG art in foil. Beautiful.

Played it years ago, but it has since been cut from my decks - Eternal Dragon is really, really slow, and now there are better ways to generate card advantage, even in monowhite.

It's not a bad card, and I could definitely see it being played in more casual metas. Alternatively, it could be useful if you're playing something that cares about the cycling, such as Astral Slide (or if you go a bit deeper, Living Death).

Yeah, this is the sort of thing that you see and get misty-eyed for the days of the format where you'd have eldrazos in every deck, a Genesis in every graveyard. I never actually partook in it, having only joined the fold in 2014, but slinging original wave precons was an emulation of sorts. Nice trip down memory lane :)

I have fond memories of this card for sure. The art is great, I like the design, and it was a grindy card advantage engine in several of my early mono-W lists.

It has not aged particularly well. White has several much more mana efficient ways of doing almost the same thing and more general card advantage options now. That said I'd probably still consider it today if it didn't have the upkeep restriction on the recursion ability.

You know, I have a pile of cards ready to be made into a Slide deck, and I am absolutely going to play my Eternal Dragon in it because you suggested it here.

Fireshrieker's one of only two equipment that grant double strike, which is rarely seen outside of white or red; this makes it a great voltron piece for commanders that don't run those colours and already have some sort of evasion built in. I've had a lot of fun with it in Kefnet personally, stacking it on top of Empyrial Plate or Strata Scythe to OHKO the unwary.

It is quite the basic effect.

However, given the time it was first printed and how much they valued putting double strike on a card as well as the first time balancing a new card type, this card was costed surprisingly correctly. One more mana on either end would make it feel clunky, while one mana less probably would make it more appealing in limited.

I always felt like Fireshrieker was too much of a mana investment. Compared to Duelist's Heritage it's just a lot less political and fragile. Aside of Duelist's Heritage, damage doublers and Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion i always found instants to be the best solution for Voltron decks. Doubling damage post Blockers can kill consistently. Boros Charm and Temur Battle Rage are propably best at that, with Psychotic Fury being an underplayed card.

I like it in voltron decks as a way to win combat when blocked, and to get double damage triggers on swords, jitte, etc. And of course drastically speed up the clock.

That kor hook or whatever that costs 8 total rarely makes it into my decks, but at a nice lithe 5 this makes it into almost every voltron deck I've played (obviously I wouldn't run it with a commander that gets it on its own, though). Duelist's heritage is neat but it doesn't work with lightning greaves, any of the white swords, etc. It also doesn't work when blocking. More importantly, it's harder to tutor usually (or at least, it's harder to include as part of an equipment toolbox that you're probably going for in an all-in voltron build). And considering what a force multiplier double strike is for a voltron deck, running both is pretty reasonable anyway.

I feel like this one has aged badly. Someone mentioned Duelist's Heritage. Even something like Blood Mist is easily accessed/cheap and doesn't have equip costs. For practical purposes, I don't really think about Fireshrieker anymore. Inquisitor's Flail, on the other hand...

Even for the purposes of using Swords of Protection and Value, there are many playable/resilient doublestrike creatures around, too.

I first thought the card was going to be the simply bad Firescreamer. I'm glad it's a decent card that reasonable people can disagree on how to rate instead. I think Fireshrieker still has a place outside of the double strike colors.

It's the general purpose, more obvious way to grant double strike to a target, unconditionally, and consistently. Whether that's worth it at the same playquip cost as a Sword however, is another case entirely.

It's not just a damage doubler. You get in two damage triggers. That's its real benefit, being able to trigger swords or the Curiosity ability and similar twice.

I run it in Thada Adel, Acquisitor, and it's fantastic there. Doubles up Thada triggers early game, and turns Colossus of Akros into a 1-shot KO lategame.

I've heard it's pretty good. What is there to say about one of the strongest fair commanders there is?

This card feels pretty good, but I don't know what everyone is doing with it to make it feel *great*.

I'm the only one plays it in my groups, and I'd like to play it as a commander, but I don't even know where to start.
