do any of you see an interesting way to build Koma, Cosmos Serpent ?

The only thing that stands out is that UG can't normally sacrifice creatures very efficiently. Are there any serpents that want to die?
Or UG changelings that want to die?
Define "interesting."

Koma is a big, highly resilient threat, that pumps out tons of power of attackers rather quickly. It also has highly relevant control abilities, shutting down several potent commanders, planeswalkers, or other threatening permanents. Including lands.

Want to use that Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx? Hope you have a use for the mana during your upkeep. Did you want to go infinite with Ashnod's Altar? How about no? Is that an Oblivion Stone? Use it now, or forget about it.

That tap ability can also be used aggressively, to shut out blockers.

--

I don't know that you need to go full token build, but he can easily help support a lot of different shells without resorting to the typical blue green DRAW ENGINE IN THE CZ Commanders.

I plan to replace Rashmi from the head of my Wurms Tribal deck. (If only Koma were a Wurm...)...
I get that Koma is good. Maybe has a home in Maelstrom Wanderer. I just don't find it inspiring to build around. Which is fine.
It's Simic goodstuff just like Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath and Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy, only this time it's wearing lockdown fashion instead of combo couture. To me I think the only thing you really need to bust the bejesus out of it and make everyone miserable is a token doubler of some description. Or ways to make all of your stuff serpents (Maskwood Nexus) and ways to drum up tokens, which you're certainly in the colours for. It's fine if that's your thing, it just sounds awful to play against to me.
My guess is that they are setting up the world tree as being able to traverse the planes, but perhaps more easily only if you know it exists, which is why others don't randomly stumble across it. Vorinclex either followed someone who bridged to new phyrexia, or stumbled across it, or was brought over for a hunt.

I hope Kaldheim does not become another phyrexia, although that battle would somewhat fit into the Ragnarok mythology, with near annihilation of both sides, and a new world reborn after.
Sounds about right to me too, they've already done it with Planar Bridge, so there's no reason Yggdrasil can't be similar. And I agree, I hope Kaldheim doesn't end up just being a fodder plane for Phyrexia. Truth be told I was a little disappointed that Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider showed up at all. The flavour is so thick you could spread it on toast, and having the place be on the list for compleation seemed a bit of a bummer. But it works, more or less, for now. I'm sort of saving up all the stories so I can read them in one fell swoop so I'm not entirely up with what's actually happened.

This "tells" how Vorinclex got to Kaldheim;

Not much there at all, other than to confirm that flesh can't travel the Blind Eternities, whereas mycosynth and bone can.

Personally I'm very exited Battlefield Raptor and Koma, Cosmos Serpent.

With Koma you can pretty much add every orb. Winter Orb, Torpor Orb, Null Rod and so much more. Just think about it guys. One hand you have simic rampdrawstuff.deck and on the other stax. It's gonna be so much fun!

Hope you have fun buddy.

Battlefield raptor is exciting for limited. Is there a commander that wants small white flyers? Kangee?

Tymna? Marisi? They keep giving us better and better 1cmc white flyers, but I never know what to do with them in a similar fashion to Edric.
Odric 1, Tajic 1, Mirri 2?
Mirri, Cat Warrior counts as a Cat Warrior.

The more I think about Kaldheim's commanders, the more I want to build. Anyone want to weigh in on which I should build (first)?

Right now I'm thinking about:

Halvar, God of Battle // Sword of the Realms - probably focused on the SotR side, with etb creatures, sac outlets, and a lot of (non-artifact) board wipes to play the control game, with a few more equipments thrown in for good measure.

Egon, God of Death // Throne of Death - mostly thinking about him because he's got zero EDHrec decks which always gets my attention. My take would be to build around throne of a death as a 1-drop to fuel reanimator. No need to play any discard, self-mill, etc - just lands, fatties, and reanimation. Throne as my always-1-drop, then hope to mill an eldrazi or whatever to reanimate on an early turn, with the activated ability as CA later if necessary. Could also replay Egon as a 6/6 after I've milled half my deck and don't need more grave fuel.

Narfi, Betrayer King - Zombie tribal is so passe. This would be essentially Reassembling Skeleton in the command zone, sacing him for value and death triggers, alongside some classic UB control stuff.

Kardur, Doomscourge - Harder to know exactly what to do with him, but his ETB is strong and so is his triggered ability. Probably a lot of forced attacks, creature donation, and removal with the goal of draining the table to death. Happily, him living isn't that important since I don't mind replaying him for his nasty ETB.

Aegar, the Freezing Flame - No giants or Wizards. Instants and sorceries for damage only. Basically a UR burn deck. I don't have much of an idea beyond that right now.
Perm Decks

He seems like a fun commander. I'd probably think of running stuff like:
Invasion Plans
Death Pits of Rath
Furnace of Rath, Dictate of the Twin Gods
Wound Reflection
Conjurer's Closet
Maybe Hunted Dragon and Hunted Horror as well.

My vote is for either Aegar (sick showcase art) or Egon. I think you may want a bit more mill than just throne if you build the latter, but who knows.

I really like Kardur, Doomscourge too. There's plenty of interesting legendary stuff in the set, but this one seems to me the best balance of fun and strong in the set, which is nice for an uncommon. I'm definitely going to be using him in a 99, and I have high hopes.

kinda bugging me that there's no new four verse Sagas in Kaldheim. I love doing the weird Medicine Runner flicker remix with The First Iroan Games and Medomai's Prophecy for fun and profit, but the Kaldheim ones are too concise (and half of them seem pretty overpowered in themselves!)

I want Director's Cut sagas where they don't shy away from low impact chapters please =P

What would you cost a 4 chapter saga where each chapter was just 'Scry 1'?

We know Thassa, God of the Sea costs 3 and is an indestructible enchantment with a very powerful activated ability, so 1u is my guess.

Apparently 4-verse Sagas were a Theros thing. Kaldheim's thing is multicolor Sagas.

I truly cannot resist the comparison between this and Hogwarts. It's actually going to be really hard to take this set seriously for me, thematically at least.

Enemy-colored commands all look very interesting. I missed CMC becoming MV on first read, but definitely interesting to note.
  • Witherbloom Commandis sweet if you have targets for it consistently - kill a thing + regrow a land is a solid amount of value for a two mana spell. That said, noncreature, nonland with MV 2 or less is pretty narrow.
  • Silverquill Command feels a little more expensive than I'd like. Still it's a decent 2-for-1 - draw a card and either reanimate a small creature or make an opponent sacrifice something. I'd like it a lot more at instant speed though.
  • Quandrix Command is pretty flexible, but also a little niche. Countering an artifact / enchantments spell and providing a bit of incidental grave hate (or an Unsummon) is interesting though.
  • Lorehold Command looks too expensive - five mana is a lot. I guess it can function as a janky Inspiration in a pinch, and Boros Charm is never bad to have access to.
  • Prismari Command looks like the most likely to see play in eternal formats - shares two modes with Kolaghan's Command, with Faithless Looting and a Treasure token as the other two options. Throw in Narset, Parter of Veils for an instant-speed Mind Rot.
...I don't think any of these are obvious auto-includes in EDH, but definitely intriguing options.
(I also appreciate the Demonic Tutor reprint)

From what I can see it's collector/alt art print at present, do we think it's going to be reprinted in stock standard/draft boosters? I'm skeptical myself.

Interesting. My reaction to these spoilers was a sigh of relief that this isn't Harry Potter world :P The visual design and covered subject matter make this feel different from Hogwarts.

And yeah, Demonic Tutor is coming to standard boosters near you. There's one of these faux-masterpieces in every kind of booster, draft too. Another nice avenue for reprints.

Its the Eldraine and Disney thing. There gonna be a some similarities and I'd bet a nod or two, but disney (like Harry Potter is to magic schools) really didn't do anything new with the fairy tale stuff just put their own spin on already existing tropes, as well as being very popular and well known.

Wow, that's cool - it's a much needed reprint, hopefully there's more reprint value coming.

I dunno, I guess there's already some similarities; MtG already has a bit of psychographic organisation of human characteristics in the colour pie, and HP does the same with houses and sorting hats. It's not a direct thing, I guess part of it is just me being super cynical about the possibility of WotC just phoning it in.

But then at the same time, surely when this got floated in R&D design team would've realised the inevitability of customers drawing similarities, so surely they've done everything they can to make it stand on its own.

The skeptic in me doesn't want to give the benefit of the doubt, but I guess I should reserve judgement.

Oh, I can totally relate to what you're saying. I hated Eldraine because of all the fairy tale stuff, yet I'm not really getting riled up by this. There are four houses in Hogwarts, and five colleges in Strixhaven, so we're cool :P Also, the "majors" don't really feel super Harry Potter'y, more like an actual college. Performing arts? The written word? The other three technically overlap to an extent, but the only one that immediately tripped a wire is the Golgari one versus herbology. Still, I guess there's a very real possibility that Hogwarts is such a mainstream-codified representation of the trope that any magic school will automatically feel similar, like Disney with fairy tales.
