This is kinda off-off topic but the other day I Pyroblast'ed an Atraxa infect proliferate deck and have never felt more justified in any other act.
Did you just YOLO throw Pyroblast and REB in some decks? Sounds like it is working out enjoyably. XD
I did sorta I guess. Xenagos is my supreme fu to blue decks. I'm coming right at you one gigantic creature at a time and you'd best answer every single one and hope I don't pyroblast it. I may add reb but so far dualcaster mage is my extra counterspell.

He's just such an elegant commander to stomp on people who want to spam sweepers and countermagic. One fatty is all it takes.

It's a heap of trash but it's been rampaging lol.
Got a list anywhere?

Conduit of Worlds is being slept on big time. It's easy to dismiss it as a color-locked Crucible of Worlds but that other ability is incredibly powerful. I just locked a game up by recurring Spike Weaver with it in my Tasigur deck. Card is gross and versatile.

Yeah I have a bunch of copies of that one. It's nuts.

Why it gotta be so good with seedborn muse tho? (Not because you can use it in others turns but because you can use it in your turn to replay seedborn muse after it's removed the third time and then still do flash nonsense in other peoples).

Yeah it's got the chops to become a format staple even if you're not recurring lands. If you are recurring lands (like I do in Titania) it's fully busted.

Well, my laptop died. I have a protection plan for such an occasion, but I'm going to be without for an unknown amount of time until I can get it fixed/replaced. Gooooooddamnit.

@DirkGently: Congratulations on being published. Article looks great, but personally I find the two-tiering system weird. Is a letter grade necessary with a judgment? If good is an intersection of playable and well designed, bad is an intersection of unplayable and poorly designed, and ugly is wildly powerful and poorly designed (generally speaking of course) the letter grades seem unnecessary. I would rather rely on your analysis and conclusion than an arbitrary designation. Maybe it's just me.

Also, a hyphenated last name? I'm unsurprised.

Yeah it's the worst. Do not recommend.

Does seem to be a common attribute of a lot of pro magic players, though. Maybe it's a linked gene.

I do think the ratings are a little convoluted, though I do like having a final stamp on the whole thing and I like relating it to GBU for fun, and as a little bit of a forum in-joke.

Oh, to be clear, I love the GBU framing a lot. It's the letter grades I'm less than thrilled with. If they ultimately reflect your opinion, just state your opinion, don't couch it.

Ah fair enough. I do like having the fine-grained ratings, partly for myself. The "Good" camp probably shouldn't be so narrow that it excludes anything I personally don't have serious interest in building, but I still like to highlight the ones I do think are particularly compelling in a numerical/letter fashion.

Does anyone else really hate it (primarily in 1v1) when someone talks up your bomb and then easily answers it? Like "Oh geez, wow, that's really scary, what a strong card..." *runs hands through hair while gazing into the middle distance as though remembering D-day* "I'll Terminate it." Dude shut up, if you have the answer just play it, don't give me these %$#%$#% theatrics.

This is one of my favorite subtypes of Magic nerd, actually. It's exceedingly rare that they handle having their lunch handed to them well.

I too enjoy hoisting these ones on their own petards.

A subset is the ones who right from the jump try to get alliance talk going and go all political for no obvious reason. It's weird and totally unnecessary.

That sounds like a pain. Thankfully, I don't have much of those in my meta. I have someone whose entire grasp of politics is "an eye for an eye".
I Krosan Grip his Omniscience and he has to Shatter my Thran Turbine just so "we're even". I think he believes it dissuades people from killing his stuff but it just makes me have to go harder at him to fully preemptively kill him just to avoid randomly being spite mised by him later in the game.

You guys are such killjoys! I love me some theatrics. Love anyone who brings a little personality to their game. Give me anything but some stuffy nerd who barely talks and plays every game like it's a PTQ semifinal.

'Course, I am prone to such theatrics myself, but I am after all the Supreme Douchelord. I have my own religion, you know.

@TheAmericanSpirit

I'm not sure if we're all talking about the same thing. I don't have an issue with someone going "Hmm....yeah, that's a scary enough card that I think I need to use removal on it." And I'm not even talking about someone who snarkily goes "wow, nice card...sure would be a shame if I had REMOVAL! hahaha!" I'm talking about people who talk up your card, then play out the perfect answer with concerned eyebrows as though they don't know that they've just owned you.

Like a classic example (not involving a bomb in this case, it can really happen anywhere) would be that you're on the defensive and forced to attempt a combat trick on the block to stabilize, just praying they don't have removal. And the guy goes "oh gosh, so that gives your creature +2/+2 and reach so he can block my flyer? Wow, that's a really good card for just 1 mana. I guess I'll try to cast Deadly Derision in response? Does that resolve?" Dude you can see I have no mana untapped, you can see that your answer obliterates my whole %$#%$#% life, why are you acting like you're scared of my card that you just effortlessly answered when you were already miles ahead?

The situation last night was that I played out Chrome Host Seedshark on three, and the guy had Final Flourish with a token. He didn't even need to use mana on his turn, he had 2 untapped on his endstep. But first he spent thirty seconds talking about how strong my seedshark was and furrowing his eyebrows. And in this format we only get 3 rares, so trading a common for a rare with a tempo advantage on top is an excellent exchange. And then he untapped and played Glissa, Herald of Predation for the fourth game in a row. Piss all the way off.

In 1v1 does seem pointless if it isnt "friendly banter", in multiplayer I think theatrica are fine, it makes clear to the table our reasoning and its fun. Like everything it can get if done to much.

The first universes beyond I remember is "The walking dead", am I remembering it right? If so, I gotta give all my praise to WOTC, I hate on them often but I got to praise them, it was really difficult to change the bad impression I had, but they did, so far this set looks amazing

TECHNICALLY the first out-of-IP mtg cards were the silver border MLP and transformer promos, kind of a proto UB. TWD was the first official UB set.

Edit: stupid dogs woke me up at 3:43 am. %$#%$#% sometimes I hate other people's pets.
There's no biscuits and gravy in New Zealand.

We were at the game store and everyone wanted to play but no one wanted to play a 3 pod, and this place stayed open all night long. So we put two tables together and everyone crowded in. It was close to 45 minutes between turns and I ultimatted a Liliana of the Veil followed immediately by a sweeper at one point, at which point I scooped. We left the store at like 4am and I have no idea if anyone won, but we all lost.

You couldn't tell what was going on, you'd have to get up and wander around the table.

It was what started my inability to stomach even 5 player games. Like, I'll sit out and watch basketball highlights on my phone for a bit you all have fun :P
