I think they represent the Nyx, which is technically where the Gods are, thus a place and a "land". The five mana symbols are cluster of stars.
yep, this looks accurate. They look like mana-ensorcelled constellations, which seems relevant and Nyx-ish.
This seems a bit forced. I see random stars in the background, but no symbolism of actual constellations that are organized to form any specific shape. At first glance I thought "HEY POKEMON ENERGY MANA" just like a poster above. My post sounds more passionate than I actually feel, but I think these are almost too generic to not have any landscape at all.
This I agree, they could've made them more abstract, like Milky Way for island (river of stars), a super nova for mountain, black hole for swamp, etc.

The lands make me feel funny. They are beautiful but the lack of landscapes is kind of strange after so long. I'll probably pick up 30 of each for my box.

I'm super happy to see devotion returning. Hopefully the are some goodies for mono black devotion

I fear this won't be the case since mono-black devotion was so strong in THS Standard and TED has a plethora of strong black cards. At any rate, I always love it when mono-color receives some love. TBD can't get here fast enough.

Those lands aren't doing anything for me.

That's probably good, with the Commander related announcement today. 70+ new legends in a draft set should mean plenty of things to play around with next year.

Quite a bit dropped today, huh?

Energy Basics - Interesting design. They look cool, I just don't know if I would actually use them in a deck. Maybe that'll change, maybe not. I get it, that they look like constellations. (So basically what several people have said)

Commander () Collection - I like the idea, but wasn't paying attention to MtG when the Signature Spellbooks came out so I don't know how those shook down (availability, price gouging, etc etc). If it's successful, you could argue either way of them going either Blue or Black, or White or Red for the next one. And I would hope they extend it to multicolor as well.

Conflicted on the Theros leak. It's cool getting fresh "info" and cards, but you know heads are gonna roll somewhere.

Interesting move to align the decks with the ongoing block (and also to have twice a year releases of CMD decks as well). My first thought is that there might be a higher chance of the decks being a complete miss for certain players if they don't like the current block.

As always, gonna have to wait and see how it all pans out.

I've actually altered a few lands to just have a large version of the mana symbol, so I'm sure I'll find a home for some of those lands.

The themes all seem on point, and my goodness with those Commander announcements... Although, that's a lot of Commander all at once... Like, even spaced out over a year, instead of buying 4 precons, they want us to buy... 9? With a kind of spellbook/arsenal... and a Commander draft/cube experience?

That's a lot of product to swallow, and I'm wondering if I might just be buying parts for some of these. I wonder if they should have ramped into this a bit slower.

I'm intrigued by that redhead chick in the later images - She's holding Jeska's weapons (even the clothes match)... but I don't recall Jeska having horns? Unless something happened post-phage merge into Karona and then getting better of it? If so, post-Karona pre-sacrifice-to-save-multiverse Jeska was pretty strong in cannon iirc.

I like Jeska as a character (and even as a card when I was playing crappy 60 card at that time) - so here's hoping.

Edit - Looking closer at the horns/hair, there's two braids around each horn, so those might actually just be braided into her hair, and not actually her own horns. Supper excited for new Jeska. -- And the facepaint/tatoos match too.

Oh god... those new lands *Drools*
Questing Beast, You are getting these forests...

If I keep boosting Chandra, she is getting the Mountains and I think i will replace the basics in my Vorath deck with them as well... (Swamp is the nicesst closely followed by Island and Mountain, then Forest and finally Plains.)

7 Precons, unless there are another 2 I missed (5 in april and 2 with the release of the next zendikar (Why are we going back AGAIN?)

I'm sorry, I want to go back to Llorwyn.

5 in april, 2 with Zendikar, 2 with Commander Draft set.
Oh, and we're doing five decks instead of four, with 71 brand-new cards—more than ever before.
...
We're launching two decks with Zendikar Rising.
...
Finally, Commander Legends comes with two Commander decks of its own!

Though, looking back, the last four each only have 3 new unique cards - so hopefully it's nothing soul-shattering to make it insane prices.

And hopefully the ones with only 3 new cards have better reprints.

Although, I'm not going to hold my breath on that, either. :|

Athreos seems... curious. A bit costly at six mana, but at the same time, good ol' indestructible enchantment so it's not too likely he'll get removed. Persistent value throughout the game, though more of an insurance policy in addition to your other recursion, than something that'd fully enable a sac-central deck. Could probably helm a pretty decent etb/dies deck, more focused on bigger-mana, big-value things rather than aristocrats-style.

And this is where I will stop planning because I really don't need a third Orzhov deck.

EDIT: Oh. You can also put coin counters on opponents' stuff and then get those for yourself. That opens up possibilities...
36 decks or so...

Athreos can steal opponent's stuff, provided that you have a way to kill/exile it.

I like the new Ashiok... for myself. I'd hate to face it.

Athreos, Shroud-Veiled looks like a lot of fun. Reminds me a bit of Debtors' Knell. Triggering at end of turn means you can get value much sooner, but you also need to wait for the targets to die. Mixed feelings re: indestructible enchantments returning, since they're a pain to deal with, but I'm a bit more forgiving of a six mana spell. Slightly sad that it's a buy-a-box promo, since it means I'm unlikely to pick one up, but meh.

Ashiok, Nightmare Muse is fine for Standard, as that style of walker tends to be. Doesn't look that impressive for EDH though.

Looks like I held off on my thoughts re: Elspeth, Sun's Nemesis when she was leaked, so I'll share them now - I'm underwhelmed, but I also suspect that I'm underestimating how good Escape is. Pump is underwhelming, life gain is underwhelming, and four tokens from a four mana walker is fine, but not great. White is also the worst color at filling its graveyard - black and green have dredge, blue has mill and cheap cantrips, red has wheels and looting.... but white seems like the color least able to support this mechanic, unless it is getting some heavy support. I guess it's card advantage if you squint hard enough? Hmmm.... either way, don't think it will see much play in EDH, although some people may try it in graveyard-based decks.

No-art lands are still gorgeous.

The Debtors' Knell comparison is quite apt, which in turn cycles back to a recurring discussion in random card of the day. Decks are getting more synergistic and specialised, so you're not super likely to get something super relevant to what you want to do. That said, the bubbles for your guys are not a bad thing to have, but are they six mana's worth of good?

I'm not just spitballing here, upon seeing Athreos 2.0 I summoned my meta guys and playtested him in Daxos for five or so games. Of all that time, coinmaster did one relevant thing, allowing me to steal an Ulvenwald Hydra, but I had that game on lock anyway as I was sitting on a Skybind (which also happens to be a gross winmore combo with the new guy). So once Daxos is all bubbled up, what do you even coin up? A tribal sliver? Whatever thing Brudiclad is relying on that will do nothing for you?

He'll still see some play, likely in wipe-heavy decks. And yeah, the no-arts are just oddly hypnotising. I'm not a sucker for this sort of stuff, yet these ones had me googling ELD bundle land packs on eBay just to see if there's a precedent for obtaining this sort of stuff in bulk.

Have they confirmed that all of the gods are returning? That would eat up every mythic slot, right? Well, 14 mythic slots considering Athreos, or 13 if Xenagos's place is still vacant.

Maro has said that not all the gods will be in the set. My guess is the monocolor gods will be in there. and Athreos is buy a box because the set is in the underworld.
Maybe the other gods will show up in PW decks.

It's never been reprinted. That's why it's $10+. Helps devotion and constellation? Yeah, it could see a reprint here. Can't beat Guay art, though.
