I've noticed that I don't have any tribal decks anymore, and while I could scour EDHREC and other resources, I figured the best resource there is, all of you! and your experience :) I never tried to build Humans, so hoping you can give me some pointers what to look for and build around.

As the subject suggests I would like to make a Human tribal with light Angel support, or to be honest, I just really want to play Angel of Glory's Rise because of the new art it has.

Do you have any experience with a deck that can make use of this card in a Human tribal? Something you can recommend? Not bothered about colours.

Cheers!

If this is an EDH deck, as I presume it is, I would suggest this commander: Sigarda, Font of Blessings. You can run both angels and humans together. Alternatively, if you want more Human focus, you could go with Kyler, Sigardian Emissary, but I think Sigarda might be what you are looking for. And, they are both in the same colors so you could put one or the other in the 99.

For the nostalgia factor, IMO, every "human" deck needs to include Márton Stromgald and Homura. I can't help much with the OP premise since my Human deck is mono-R and uses those two as swap-able Generals (where Marton is frowned upon, I put him in the 99 and put Homura in the big chair instead).

You may consider my Tribal Write-up idea of considering Tribal Identity like CI - and only include Angels that have the Human tribe in the rules text (helps avoid Goodstuff includes).

I'm running Angel of Glory's Rise + Fiend Hunter combo in my Teysa, Orzhov Scion deck - it's not a dedicated human deck, but it does have a strong human subtheme. Throw in other aristocrats support like Cartel Aristocrat, Zulaport Cutthroat, Species Specialist, and Xathrid Necromancer (well, not with the Angel) and you have a solid gameplan. Jerren, Corrupted Bishop // Ormendahl, the Corrupter and General Kudro of Drannith are some additional human aristocrats support worth consideration.

Bruna, the Fading Light makes for a good two tribe pairing commander. Its really cool that the commander brings a big power swing to your side which makes her good at playing with and against sweepers. Even if she gets countered her rez fires off on cast which makes it really hard to shut her down entirely.

Having played her a good bit myself I will admit that she tends to be played more as an angels deck with a few humans backing her up just because her rez tends to favor single strong cards which tend to favor the higher cmc Angels over the Humans.

Selesnia colours came to mind first, seems to be the default colours for Humans or Humans-&-Angels. I've considered older prints of Sigarda before but didn't find them interesting enough as the commander to play around. This new one seems to have more potential, but I am not sure if there are enough Humans or Angels worth playing from top of your deck, but could be worth looking into. My only hesitation is that I already have two Selesnia decks, not sure I want another one, but I suppose this would likely play different to the other two.

lol I haven't played early enough to even remember those two cards, let alone be nostalgic about them  I'll definitely give that a read though, see if it gives me any ideas!

Hm, Ozhov is worth considering. I do have a Teysa Karlov aristocrats deck which doesn't have that many humans, but maybe I could look into changing the creatures around, see if there enough humans that benefit from death triggers.

Not a bad shout, as Bruna deck is on my to-build list. I suppose she would lend herself quite nicely to a theme of filling my yard with Humans, so I can try max out the resurrections. Yeah, I think I'll pursue this first as an idea for Angel of Glory's Rise deck. I do enjoy playing Bruna, Light of Alabaster self-mill deck where people look at me funny when I Traumatize myself

I've had a Selesnya humans and angels deck forever headed by the OG Sigarda and this new one they printed is just everything I've always wanted for the deck. Being able to cast humans off the top and then protecting them is just clutch.

I run a few sac combos in my deck, including Sun Titan Fiend Hunter and somehow I never figured out the interaction with Angel of Glory's Rise ? Putting this card in my deck immediately. Also works with Saffi Eriksdotter if you're doing Selesnya, which I also missed somehow. Thanks!

Human Tribal support has emerged in Selesnya thanks to Innistrad (already covered) or in Mardu (mostly Orzhov with a splash of red) from Ikoria with folks like Jirina Kudro, General Kudro of Drannith, Jirina, Dauntless General, or the Silvar, Devourer of the Free + Trynn, Champion of Freedom duo. You could try to nab ALL The humans with a Reyhan, Last of the Abzan + Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder deck though?

Starting to think I ought to first figure out what I want the deck to do before I settle on commander/colours. But thanks for the vote for the new Sigarda!

I did buy the Mardu Human tribal precon but was very underwhelmed with it. Reyhan and Bruse is an interesting combo, or even just the idea of looking at which Partners are Humans. I do like the idea of including because that gives me access to mill cards that I like. Thanks!

Yeah I'll second Bruna. ISB has mentioned a few times the possibility of a human-centric build with her, and it's getting more and more viable with time honestly. Rick, Steadfast Leader getting a universes within treatment, Myrel, Shield of Argive, Recruiter and Ranger-Captain, Esper Sentinel, all that good stuff. I think it'd come off as a hard control deck with reanimation loops most likely, so if that's not the play then I'd probably look elsewhere.

I like reanimation loops but hard control not so much, but maybe time to try something different. As long as it's fun to play in a game.

You could try Nalia de'Arnise with bunch of Shadowborn Apostles and human payoffs. Nalia would act as kind of janky Future Sight.

It is an idea, and perhaps there is something to explore in the DnD party mechanic, but anything with Shadowborn Apostles then turns into Demon payoff which I think defeats the point of a Human tribal.

Ultimately, Tymna the Weaver is the best human :P Tymna the Weaver and Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist would be something I'd be inclined to try. Sansgreen aggro decks are so fun.

Not a bad shout, drawing a lot is a good way to fill the yard too, to have Humans to reanimate with the Angel.

Saskia the Unyielding for an aggressive build sounds fun. Play some Thalia, Heretic Cathars, Loran of the Third Paths, Dark Confidants and such, drop Saskia to double strike someone to death, use Angel of Glory's Rise and Patriarch's Bidding for some late game reach.
You had me at 'aggressive' I always think of Saskia as an Infect commander, but yeah, she could work with as Tribal commander too. I'll have to have a look how many Humans I have that she could use, vs how many I'd have to buy. Thanks!

I've been running a Nalia de'Arnise deck for a while now (decklist in my signature if interested) and if you are looking for something aggressive I could definitely recommend looking into it at least. The party mechanic as a whole is kinda lackluster with most payoffs but Nalia has a good one and I think you could definitely skew human-centric and make that kind of variation with that commander work. There may be some human synergy creatures that also have one of the appropriate classes as well.
