ChannelFireball livestreaming the opening

The packs include what looks like a commemorative playtest card.
Psst, check the second page of Custom Card Contests & Games! Because of the daily contests, a lot of games fall down to there.

its definitely un-set not un-set (no silver boarder)

it has barry's land, which means that we may never get a "barry's land" as a legit black boarder.

some of them are hilarious, and rather whitty. the un player will want these. no one else will want these haha (not legal cards)

also so far no hint of "masterpieces" or old cards hidden within that I could tell (was hoping for someone to open a foil alt art leyline of abundance)

The more I see of the cards themselves the more I like it.

To me it's a cool way of doing a chaos draft without trying to organise getting all the old sets so you don't have multiples whilst drafting. The playtester cards are somewhat silly but there are ideas I wouldn't mind becoming legal cards in the future. Might get a few sets when they release in March (since there are no GP's planned in the UK until July next year) to see how they play out.

anyone else reading these cards as:

Wizards: we don't know what you like or want so we are going to print a bunch of cards with words, in black & white, so we don't have to waste a lot of ink, and let you sorta "roll around in it" so we can see what sticks and then we will work to turn it into black border.

Nope. Those are clearly cards with predominantly logistic problems that keep them from being cards they want to make available to any format that can be played competitively or presented to new players (look at the cards that require additional other cards to have their full effect).

An interesting aspect about a lot of these is that they would be more easily realized in a digital-only format (land tokens and cards that create other cards are easily taken care of by a game engine), but those are also examples of cards that are similar to cards in e. g. Hearthstone that are incredibly annoying to encounter, because most of their card text is actually printed on another card.

It is

There's way to many cards to mak it common enough to reduce the prices on particular ones people want

Besides it's probably a limit print run as well

This is why I just buy singles rather than gamble

Saw a solicit for Mystery Booster. It will be 24 packs to a display, release date 3/13/2020. No idea of the price yet.

Playtest card being replaced with a foil from an added list of 121 cards is interesting, though.

I think on reddit there are value based listings for all cards in this product
EDIT: found it https://www.mtgstocks.com/lists/21

It's actually a little funny how in spite of 1600+ reprint slots, Three Visits hasn't made it in. Due to P3K's extreme scarcity, that's a card that would actually benefit from being reprinted in here.

I'm unsure how to interpret the value of this set. Most of the mythics are above a tenner (hiked MSRP is pretty much a given), which is nice at least. Does this thing come with two rares per pack (one old, one new), or am I misinterpreting the composition?

There's some great reprints. That being said, there's a CRAP TON of chaff too. So, there's probably justification for a hiked MSRP, but I think the chances of picking up anything really stunning is pretty well infinitesimal. I'm sure there'll be anecdotal examples of stunner packs, but I'm not intending to try my hand personally. In terms of value per pack, I think you'd struggle to get your money's worth on average. That ship sailed with UMA, in my opinion.

Three Visits would definitely have been nice.

Well atleast the scarcity cards will tank (well ones not used outside edh)

And bare in mind it may be 1 in a million of hitting the partial rare or mythic (whatever the rarity's are fOr each reprint) but there's always those buyers who only do singles
