Curse of Clinging Webs gets a unanimous inclusion, which I think I support. It really does tick all the boxes, and aside from Living End strats, it wrecks enough with upside. I also think Grave Pact|8ed is a hard to evaluate card this early on and is probably a late include. I'd also argue Dictate of Erebos is stronger and more cost efficient dollar wise, (debatably, though I value flash higher on this effect). Both are probably good enough, but if we're still so mixed, I'm okay with letting it table and addressing it towards the end.
For today, in honour of me getting my net turned on at the new place, I'm putting myself and @toctheyounger on the clock. Of note, we're also the last two in the queue before I reshuffle the names again. So haaaaaa.
For my card, I'm nominating the humble Plumb the Forbidden as a reasonable outlet for our excess bodies. I quite like the spell, at least.

Definitely a yes from me, I love this in any token producing deck.
Definitely seems good here. I've never played it myself, but a significant draw spell seems very worthwhile here, especially if we're doing some aristocrat stuff. Yea.
39 Commander decks and counting. I'm sure this is fine, and not at all a problem.

Yup I'll lock in Plumb the Forbidden, that card is massively good. I actually love that on its own its a cantrip that you don't have to sacrifice anything for, and it scales from there. Really overlooked card from Strixhaven that has overperformed almost every time it gets cast in Varina.
I'm mulling up 3 that I think are all possibles but not locks (one of which I'm not sure makes the budget cut). I think for a first pick I'll go Grim Flayer.
A well costed swinger that lets us curate our yard for delirium. No tribal affiliation, but I don't think that matters here. It fixes our yard at the time of the game we need it fixed, gets bigger as it does so, and it has a nice combat keyword.
FWIW if this isn't on anyone's radars I won't at all be upset, I think it could be decent, but I think there's a for and against argument to be had.

Yayyyy for Plumb the Forbidden, and welcome back 3drinks! Glad you got your net sorted out!!
I am not sure about grim flayer being a 2/2 for two that needs to hit to do anything. Wouldn't Splinterfright be better at the job for us? Tentative nay but I can be convinced!

Plumb is so good it annoys me. yeah, I guess.
Grim Flayer is a card I really like, but I think it will have a hard time connecting much of the time. I think I would rather see a less conditional card. Nay.

I think Lish is onto something with the Splinterfright comparison. This thing mills two once/turn max if it connects until delirium where it mills four. It's largely a french vanilla slightly efficient trample creature. Splinterfright always mills two with the only condition being "make it to your upkeep" and scales up exponentially. I think this card is a nay.

I'll echo the others and say nay too, because there are other cards that can mill us without a condition. 4/4 with Trample is not likely to connect outside of the early game (when he'll be a 2/2 likely, since its too early for consistent Delirium), in my opinion, and so far we haven't mentioned running cards that make our creatures bigger.

Well I think Splinter is a bit slow. It also doesn't dig as deep as Flayer and we're stuck definitely milling instead of getting to curate our next draw and our graveyard.aliciaofthevast wrote: ↑1 year agoYayyyy for Plumb the Forbidden, and welcome back 3drinks! Glad you got your net sorted out!!

Funny thing is as soon as I posted I thought crap Stitcher's Supplier is probably a way better choice.

Looks like Plumb the Forbidden has been unanimously confirmed. Grim Flayer is out.

Stitcher's Supplier is such an easy include, yaaassss!
Well, there are a bunch of options to choose from on my list of cards to nominate eventually, but most of them would probably benefit from being a touch further along in the process. So instead of any of the really out there options, I'll nominate something that works well with both graveyard shenanigans and spiders -- Rotwidow Pack. Now, unfortunately, it does require you to exile creatures from your graveyard, which is probably going to be awkward if we want to recur our creatures as well, but it's a spider that makes more spiders, drains our opponents to help close out the game, and benefits from our graveyard-filling. I think it's a pretty solid pick, and one of the better spiders to run with.
Oh, also, another yea to Stitcher's Supplier. A shame it's not a spider, but it fills the yard very nicely.

Stitcher's Supplier has been confirmed, to the surprise of absolutely no one.
I can't imagine Rotwidow Pack is truly strong enough. It's a giant spider|leb with a pricey activated ability that works against the commander. How many times do you expect to activate it in a turn cycle at that rate? How many times does it need to be activated to be better than a zulaport cutthroat|tsr? I just can't see it working out.
For today, let's put @RxPhantom and @aliciaofthevast on the clock.

I'm gonna go nay on rotwidow. It's just a little middling. Yes it gives us tokens but there's at least one better spider maker for certain.

I have to nay Rotwidow Pack. I don't want to exile our own stuff for such a small payoff. Each opponent? I'm in. Yay.
My pick today will be Silklash Spider. It's probably the last good spider, and it'll wreck opposing angels, dragons, and other flying jerks.
