Planar Chaos alternate timeline legends
.::To Enter::.
In a single post:
- Name exactly two other players to vote for their entries for the previous challenge. (In the event that there are two or fewer entries that you are allowed to vote for, you may vote for only one.)
- Make a card that fits the current challenge.
- Include an "If I Win" (IIW) for tomorrow's challenge if you win.
Each day we use the challenge of the previous day's winner. In the case of a tie, we'll use the IIW of the tied player who has least overall points. In case of a further tie, the IIW of the earlier poster will be used.

A lot of people seemed to interpret "paradox" as "card that doesn't work"...

Given that the common definition of "paradox" is "something self-contradictory or self-defeating," not surprising.
I was considering, "Each player's hand size is reduced to 0. Each player draws X cards." which is a little more paradoxical, but actually works in Magic (although, the strategy might be a little suspect.)

Right, but (as you note) there are ways to do strange, surprising, even self-defeating cards that work within the actual magic rules. They might not be fun to play with, but they would at least be possible to play. A lot of these submissions literally couldn't be printed because the text on the card doesn't function. I'm sorry if my comment came across as criticizing people for submitting those cards (and I can certainly see how it would have) -- they're well within their rights to do so -- but I really only meant to communicate that I won't vote for a card that doesn't work within the rules, even if it's a cool idea.
(EDIT: Unless it's clearly communicated that it's an un-card, of course.)

Would it be more helpful to offer specific critiques on specific cards?
E.G., the card I offered *does* work if you can set up a condition that prevents your cards from being countered; netn10's works with
Quicken, etc.

Sure, but I'd prefer to do it over DM so that it doesn't produce hard feelings when I use other contestants' cards as examples. I'll send you a message.
N.B. I do agree that netn10's card clearly works within the rules, and I did not intend for that card to be included in my initial comment.

I would like to add that, I don't read any of the submissions as being totally nonfunctional. They are at worst difficult to use, requiring hoops to be jumped through to achieve a positive result.
