Hello everyone :)

I love Ravnica, so much. The depth, the guild system, the ten mechanics between two color pairs mix-and-match game, and I truly believe (and hope) we will return to Ravnica for a forth time.

In fact, Ravnica is so big that we didn't really consumed all that we can from it. The Guildless story line, for example, and the Nephilim...

I want to see how far can I take Ravnica. Enter, the Nephilim.

Ravnica dealt with its biggest threat yet, Nicol Bolas. The ten guilds now work hard together to restore Ravnica, unaware of an old-new threat approaching them...

The first set will introduce us to the Eyed-One's Cult (UBRG) and the Tiller-Manifested (WUBR)
The guilds returning in the first set are the Azorius Senate (WU), the Golgari Swarm (BG) and the Rakdos Cult (BR)

Mechanics:
UBRG: Sharpened-mind - if you have one, four or seven cards in your hand, do X.
WUBR: Faceless {cost} (You may cast this card face down as a 1/1 creature for 2. Cast it any time for its faceless cost).

WU: Restrict target player/each player (Until your next turn, the next spell that player cast cost 1 more to cast.)
BR: Finale (Whenever this creature attacks, you may double its power. If you do, sacrifice it at the end of turn.)
BG: Unearth {cost} (Return this card from your graveyard to the battlefield. It gains haste. Exile it at the beginning of the next end step or if it would leave the battlefield. Unearth only as a sorcery.)

New twists:
Partner with is back: there is a cycle of two creature cards for each guild that can bring each other to work together against the new threat.
Split cards are not only the guilds thing now: One side is mono colored of one guild (W for example) and the other half completes it (UBRG)
The guildless seize the opportonity to strike - some cards cares about mono-colored cards, and don't like it when you play the guilds or the new broods of Nephilim.

This makes me smile - all of it. The premise of this set just feels joyous, and the mechanics all look like fun. Unearth in Golgari makes perfect sense.

My one complaint is that the four-color commons all look too complex for the rarity, but that is what happens when you design a four-color set! I know that I should never say never in Magic design but I think this theme is something R&D would never do in reality, so you have a bit of license for how you do it in custom design because it's so far-out, despite being a "realistic" theme given how often faction multicolor sets have been done since original Ravnica introduced them.

Faceless doesn't work as a mechanic. The rules of the game define a face-down card as a 2/2 creature with no name, creature types, or abilities, regardless of the mechanic that put it there.

@void_nothing i feel like some of these cards could be dual hybrid. and that would solve some issues. Would be the perfect set to introduce these

Personally if it were me, I think if you really want to have 1/1 morph creatures, just make a special rule for your set. Unless you're hoping to put this in an environment with the other type of morph, it isn't going to matter in gameplay.

The question I typically have is how much it is worth it, and if there is a cleaner alternative - like how big is the advantage you get out of doing this vs just having it be a 3 mana 2/2, or something like a 2 mana 2/2 (which I think would be cleaner on the rules but I could be wrong).

I need the face-down creatures to:

1. Come down turn two.
2. Go on instants and sorceries.

Both are a must in order to bridge to the next set.

I thought about putting -1/-1 counter on the face-down creature, it might be the cleanest way to do this.
About making it cost 2 mana for 2/2's - that might be too good to give to every color. I want people to draft those cards only if they are going to flip them face up.

I will update the set soon - I finished more than 200 cards of the set, and I am eager to hear what you think :)

So I've looked into the rules and it turns out I was wrong: a face-down card can be given other characteristics by the spell or ability that turned it face-down, as can be seen on the card Tezzeret, Cruel Machinist. Faceless could be used to make 2-mana 1/1's. That being said, I think face-down 1/1's would play far, far worse than face-down 2/2's. A 1/1 is little more than cannon fodder. Players aren't going to want to use them in combat because they'll most likely die without killing anything.

You could go the 2-mana 2/2 route, but that comes with its own problems. If you haven't already, I'd advise reading this article Mark Rosewater wrote about an experiment they did while designing Khans of Tarkir where they changed morph into "borph," which let you cast the creature face-down for 2 mana instead of 3. Specifically note the ten issues this introduced in the set that weren't there with regular morph. Not all of those issues would apply to your set, but many of them undoubtedly would.

Faceless going on instants and sorceries has a whole different set of problems. Wizards has tried "spellmorph" in the past and apparently it doesn't play very well and isn't really necessary.

Hello! I'm always delighted to read about custom sets and this idea seems really sweet. I love "Partner with" on common creatures just like I loved it on Ley Weaver and Lore Weaver and having that in the same set as a variant of Morph supplies a lot of early consistent activity that reminds me of Amonkhet/Hour of Devastation, where almost every card gave you options.

I'd have to see some land before I had any idea what to think about four-color cards, common or otherwise; right now my only assumption is that they're too hard to cast! The exception is Secrets of Yore which lets you play it for colorless mana and that's a great design.

I finished the set, and on the following days, I will post the full set here and on Planesculptor.

For now, I updated the first post with the full spoiler of the mono white cards.

Some notes:
1. I need help with names, art, wording, flavor text, playtesting etc... any help would be very appreciated!
2. I noticed that every faction in this set has at least two-three overlapping except green and white - they have zero, so I started developing a green white archetype - control different colors of mono colored permanents to get bonuses!
