Submit your entries in the thread! No deadline set, but I'd like to get to polling by the end of the week. Everybody has been good about being timely so far.

Some additional questions that have come in (will be added if we get more):
Q: What counts as an "entry?"
A: Three cards. And only the cards. No supplemental text. Only anything that would appear on a card as you hold it in your hand from a booster pack review it as a .jpg file on the internet can be in your entry.

Q: Does "all from the same set" mean an existing set?
A: No, but see the previous question.

OK looks like all players have checked in, at least.

I'll set a soft deadline for EOD on Wednesday for entries (so, another day or so). If you need more time and know you will, please PM me so I don't go sending @s to try and get things complete. I'd rather get full participation than stick to a deadline, but I'd also like to keep things moving.

Then I just have to figure out how polls work on this site...

Edit: I don't know how to count, but we'll get everybody in there.

Ok NOW everybody has entered.

Just missing @void_nothing 's last two cards. Everybody else, this is your call for final polishes/ rules double checks/ etc. You have at least 6 hours, so no huge rush.

I think I can pull off some thread editing to get the poll set up here. Please bear with me as I do that later this evening...

ROUND ONE VOTING IS OPEN!

Quick rules:
1. If you are participating in the contest, you must vote! Please try to vote in each matchup.
2. You may vote for yourself (you probably should just to keep the numbers even).
3. If you are NOT participating in the contest, feel free to vote! Please try to vote in each matchup.
3. Yes, you are voting for ONE person among void/KK/Lorn. That is a matchup and one person will be the winner.
4. I will close the voting probably sometime on Saturday, though as always we prioritize a complete and fun contest over deadlines.
5. I will only vote to resolve ties, if necessary.
6. Discussion IS allowed! Just try to limit explaining your own cards. Again, we're trying to prioritize fun this time around rather than austerity.
7. OP has been edited to include each matchup's cards in the spoilers.
8. I made the poll so that you can change your votes in case you accidentally try to vote checkbox or otherwise change your mind on an entry.

I just wanted to say that i have never thought that making a mox and a double-faced card at the same time will be that hard. Congratulations to both @void_nothing and @KoolKoal for making their entries.
And @NinjaCaterpie, amazing work on Freeport Captain. I adore how the level-up gives him a hidden vigilance and how it asks you to simply attack with him. Great way to show a progression of a veteran officer.

Subject16 - Flash and an attack-exert ability are kind of a strange combo but I guess flash has a pseudo-haste application and not just surprise blocker so there you go. Samut's Obsession is nice and I guess I could see madness on Amonkhet? My absolute favorite here is the Cartouche. It makes so much sense for Samut to have a personal one.
dyd - The Boltkin is doing a lot for two mana and prowess is a good keyword. I really love the Mindstorm but that madness cost could be dangerous. Countermeasures has great flavor text and two interesting defensive modes. Not bad I'd say.

Legend - Vision of Tomorrow is a really interesting idea: I don't think anyone's proposed forecast tribal before. Citizen Epsilon looks perfect except for the black and red modes not working as written. How can you not like Helldagrif?
mellifluoresce - Prime Spire's Ignition looks like fun, but could be OP even with the restrictions to get around freecasting it. It's a lot like a stronger red Near-Death Experience. The Torre looks great, but ten charge counters might be too high to get the back face for what it does, considering you lose them all (yes, you can bank more than ten to get a head start, but... that's a lot of time and mana without a bunch of shenanigans). Wishful Thinking is game-ending but hey, it's a ten-mana spell with epic.

OneAndOnly - None of these is a bad design, but you cheated the restriction here. Tsk tsk.
lookingupanddown - I like Obsidian Manablade a lot just because I like powerful Equipment, but that activated ability has to either cost a lot more mana or be once per turn, because as written you could pretty readily one-sided 'geddon your opponent and prevent them from ever getting more than one land on the board after that. Corrupted Powerstone has an interesting usage restriction with all the poison counters, but effects that self-poison are hard to balance because they often won't be relevant unless your opponent is playing poison.dek. Still, love the flavor here. Aetherforged Guardian has a wording issue that needs to be fixed (is that prevent from a single source? Prevent all the damage this turn?) and that +X/+0 is simply not useful when hit with combat damage (okay, other than first strike), which is disappointing.

ApocalypseChive - A cycle, and a fairly loose one at that - this is a great way to have nonlegendary planeswalkers running around imo. Teferi's Student is very on-theme, and I guess "phases out until" now has precedent. Kasmina's Student has a fun variation on entwine but it's quite complicated. Chandra's Student's a pretty clean design but seems to lack the extra gimmick of the others (unless you're using proliferate).
Stapler - Hey, you got "true" entwine in there! Memory issues or no, Fay and Sev looks like a fun couple of characters. I'd love to know more about them. This Ral is perfectly WAR-esque and I like that, but I'm not sure the Tamiyo is uncommon appropriate - even with low-powered abilities I think a three-ability planeswalker is complex enough that it should at least be rare.

NinjaCaterpie - These are not templated like levelers usually are; the base P/T goes on the same line as level up. Progress Seeker's perfectly fine but just kinda fiddly. I can't say it really appeals to me all that much? Freeport Captain is, I understand, meant to be "vigilance + level up on attack" but in practice is just gonna be an EZ Power of Fire infinite. Destined Acolyte looks fine, but also looks a lot like other rare or mythic white levelers that exist.
avatarz - What a wacky variety pack this is. Tormented Healer is fun but as worded, it's just always gonna be black because you MUST pay the alternate cost even if you sacrifice zero creatures. But I love the "when this levels up" trigger. Fracking Grounds is only ever going to be used to do degenerate things. I just love Moondrop Entity though, although it might be too fast to get to level 10 if you have enough C sources.

Cythare - I like Strength from Sorrow both flavorfully and mechanically; I feel like it could grant +5/+5, even. Inkmoth Inspiration reminds me of Distant Melody - I like the flavor better than the mechanics here. Blightpack Alpha is a perfect intro pack rare and that's not damning by faint praise - it's simple, appealing, and a bomb without being OP.
wonderful - Wreath of Desecration's triggered ability is absolutely crazy but I suppose the vulnerability of being an Aura is enough to justify it. I like the pump effect as well. Hand of the Reaper is totally reasonable. Lurking Horror is perfectly nice Limited filler.

Togs - Garden Lookout has great flavor but feels like maybe not enough for rare. Cogwork Croptiller is a genius draft-matters card. I really like Barn Stray; adorable and nicely functional as well.
slimytrout - Glistener King is... flavorfully interesting, and I'm certainly glad you can't just freecast it most of the time. Throne-Room Guardian is reasonable I suppose. I really like the Ajani, although the PW side feels a bit like Gideon, and this is an early-period Ajani (I guess Vengeant era or earlier) if it's a flipwalker, so the justification I had ready of him using his fallen friend's spells doesn't hold up.

KoolKoal - I can't hate the Moxtopus in concept, but I think the base card is just plain broken. Treasure Seeker is plain wordy, but I love the Akoum Birb - Airdrop Condor is something the likes of which I'd like to see red get more.
Lorn Asbord Schutta - As someone who really likes minigame mechanics, the Battles are something I really like. The actual execution of the individual cards themselves varies imo. I'm assuming these would all be part of cycles? I'm not certain why Battle of Mad Warlords has monohybrid mana. I think River Delta Skirmish has the best execution but I'd like to see the other allied-color-helpers in the cycle.
Psst, check the second page of Custom Card Contests & Games! Because of the daily contests, a lot of games fall down to there.
