I love Curious Pair and for a while I was trying a green-blue Food deck on M:TG Arena with Trail of Crumbs and stuff in the Play queue, which is as close to casual as you can get on there. After the Pair have created their Food they're still good at holding equipment, or you can find ways to return them to your hand to make more food; I was trying to use Run Away Together which I read as an Eldraine adventure creature enabler anyway.

Eldraine's one of my favourite sets in a new border because it's so full of interactions and grindy ways to get ahead, and the special arts for the adventure creatures are so wonderful!

Could be a potent wincon for elves, but, I think they probably have that covered in other areas. No evasion really hamstrings this guy's potential.

this elf is not good at all. I'm assuming the deck is mono green. For the same amount of mana, a player could get a Steel Leaf Champion,

A pet card of mine. And a pet card for Wizards judging by the number of times it's been reprinted.

Scott Kirschner's art is so incredibly different. I'm grateful for this card, although it's not particularly threatening, because its presence in the old Deckmasters box-set necessitated they include an Underground River to activate its ability; there were no other blue cards or abilities in the set! It had a Karplusan Forest and a Sulfurous Springs, too, as well as the famous foil Necropotence and Incinerate. That old box kickstarted my collection in a lot of ways.

I think in a really casual environment the Phantasmal Fiend is a good candidate to wear a Sleeper's Robe. Its high toughness helps withstand blast, its morphling-like capabilities let you use it as a really janky finisher. Just wish it cost 1ub!

one of my cousins used two of them as the top end of his mono red casual. A lot of damage when they are able to attack.

I still have one of them today in a casual decks. :)

I still have my Revised Shivan Dragon from when I first started playing. Since we didn't have sleeves back then, the card is beat to hell. Whenever I buy singles, I get a Shivan Dragon. I probably have 30 or so.

I've played the Trainee in a deck full of Goblin lords; Goblin King, Goblin Chieftain, Goblin Shrine all in quadruplicate plus Thran Weaponry for the heck of it. So good. Of course when your goblin deck is choked with three-drops that don't even tutor for a Prospector you might not be playing the most efficient goblin tribe deck of all time, but I did did have a pair of Goblin Lackeys with which to put the lords in play. It was the type of casual deck which really could clear out a big multiplayer casual game by itself in practise but which actually just lost to any Wrath ever printed.

Overall I think I prefer Spikeshot Elder. Better to have an ability which comes online in a stall on a cheap creature than a meatier, more expensive creature you may never get to activate.
