Approximate Total Cost:

Umori, the Collector has an interesting deck building restriction, but it's difficult to build around something other than creatures in commander since you need, you know, a commander. Fortunately, there's one legal commander in BG that includes another permanent type - Pharika, God of Affliction .

The deck has all the normal needs of a commander deck. It needs to ramp and draw. It needs spot removal and mass removal. It needs some way to win. But it needs all these things attached to Enchantments.
  • Wincon: We're using both black pillowfort cards like Revenge of Ravens and a number of Pestilence effects. One advantage of having an indestructible commander is that it's less likely that you have to sacrifice your Withering Wisps due to lack of creatures. Of course, if Pestilence is spreading damage around to everyone and everything, you need some sort of lifegain like Grim Feast or Powerleech to make sure you're last to go. Haunting Wind is basically an inverted Powerleech, and is a card I didn't know existed until now and that I expect to do work.
  • Mass Removal: Our wincon overlaps with our mass removal, since Pestilence effects do so well at both. In addition, Death Pits of Rath and Spreading Plague help keep the board clear.
  • Spot Removal: We're using some Aura-based spot removal (Lignify , Song of the Dryads), the in-color Seals (e.g. Seal of Primordium), as well as Witch's Mist.
  • Draw: We're drawing using both Greed effects and off of our opponent's things dying using Gravestorm .
  • Ramp: For ramp we're using both Aura-based cards like Sheltered Aerie and Abundant Growth, and also land fetch like Omen of the Hunt .
  • Tokens: We're likely to need at least a few creatures, so we have Awakening Zone , Curse of Disturbance and the like.
  • Constellation: Finally, a number of constellation cards do odd jobs. Nylea's Colossus, for instance, can quickly make it possible to attack with Pharika for lethal damage. Agent of Erebos keeps graveyards clear. Thoughtrender Lamia limits our opponents' options.
