This deck was initially built with cards lying on top of a table for my nephew who was 11 at the time. He chose the Commander from a pile of dragons and big creatures that I presented him, then we built the deck from loose cards I had, where we made stacks of 10 card draw, 10 ramp, 10 removal, and 10 each of small (0-3cmc), medium (4-5), and large (6+) 'threats.' In each pile, I would choose about 6 of the cards, then present him 7-8 cards to choose 4 of to finish the stack. This let me make sure the deck had some sort of baseline, but gave him plenty of freedom to tweak and define it.
He since moved on from the deck, so I have simply continued to tweak it as new cards have come out. It's mostly just a giant pile of ramp and draw now, which is usually my favored way to play.
