This was just slapped together - mostly from bulk boxes at the LGS. It didn't completely suck, but it obviously needs much more work. It's surprising how hard it is to round up certain common cards at game stores.

In one three-way game tonight, another player had a damage doubler in play. On my turn I dropped Deepwood Ghoul|MMQ and proceeded to regenerate it thirteen times! Then I tapped Rowan for twenty-six and cast two one-red X burn spells to deal fifty-two to each opponent. Good times!

After a long and tedious game with multiple board wipes, I had Immolating Souleater in play, City on Fire and Jaya's Immolating Inferno in hand and Rowan, Scion of War in the Command Zone - and not much hope. But I top-decked Tentative Connection and suddenly things looked very rosy indeed. Cast Rowan for five - it had been a long game and I had a large pile of lands and a good few rocks in play, cast Connection for one - Rowan has Menace which reduces the cost of Connection, burned off fourteen life on the Souleater, dropped City for three R and slammed Inferno on everyone for fourteen times three - forty two!

Damnable Pact provided a fistful of cards. Mischievous Poltergeist|WTH provide the lifeloss. The Ribbons half of Cut // Ribbons did twenty-one lifeloss and Ghitu Fire with an assist from Imodane, the Pyrohammer did twenty-one damage to end a game out of nowhere.

I'd love to hear any budget ideas that anyone cares to share.

Blood Celebrant is the number one target for acquisition. Wall of Blood is a thought, but at 3-MV, it's not speeding things up much. Still it's redundancy and at least as good as the other 3-MV life losers that I already have.

Fetches and shocks would be groovy but are over the arbitrary budget limit for this deck. There are other lands that I found in a search last night that could help some. Boseiju, Who Shelters All would be awesome, but it's over the limit as well. I might ignore the limit for that one. :)

I am also thinking I might ignore the limit for Tarnished Citadel just because it's cool, very synergistic and never played.

Some versions of City of Brass seem to just about fit.

I'd love to have a Treasonous Ogre as well. Vendetta is worth a thought but Snuff Out is over budget.

There are a handful of budget staples I couldn't scrounge up at the local stores that I will try to order as soon as I can. These include Dark Ritual and Diabolic Tutor.

There are also a few artifacts that untap creatures that might be better that some of the Act of Treason-like card. These include Thousand-Year Elixir and a few others.

I'd love to hear any budget ideas that anyone cares to share.

I'll always throw Night's Whisper out there. One of the most efficient draw spells

That and Read the Bones are on one of the pages of wishlist/maybe board cards I have.

Also, swapped Geothermal Crevice out for Bojuka Bog; with my readers on, I can tell that Crevice is illegal. Oops. Bog has the virtue of being about the only thing I have on had that I can put in that makes one of my colors. Maybe tomorrow I will do some more digging at the LGS.

Some upgrades:
Show
Hide
Blood Pet - A body now, mana later.
[card]Immolating Souleater
- A two-drop life loser.
Myr Convert - A two drop dork that loses a little life.
Priest of Gix - A potential Dark Ritual effect.
[card]Priest of Urabrask - A potential R ritual.
[card]Barbarian Ring
- A life loser.
Command Tower - Just a good land.
Dragonskull Summit - A pretty good land.
Molten Slagheap - A semi-good land?
Mount Doom - A life loser.
Sulfurous Springs - A life loser.
War Room - Card draw for life!
Fellwar Stone - A solid rock.
Mind Stone - Colorless mana now, a card later. Not great, probably fine at this power level.
Talisman of Indulgence - Life loss and mana.
Commander's Sphere - Mana now, a card later. Three-drop rocks are not great, but this one is probably okay at this power level.
Burnt Offering - Maybe worth a shot, even if there's no Hoarding Broodlord in sight.
Dark Ritual - This needs no explanation.
[card]Vendetta
- Potential for substantial life loss with a benefit.
Blood Pact - Life for cards. This is an instant, which may not help as much here as it usually would, since we won't likely get a cost reduction for it.
Night's Whisper - Life for cards. This is the best of the sorcery versions of this effect as we can get this at a discount.
Read the Bones - Life for cards.
Diabolic Tutor - This guy can be discounted. A BB tutor is not bad.
Dark Petition - Net one B back from your tutor? Sounds good to me!
Peer into the Abyss - This card is potentially bonkers in this deck. A big life loss followed by a bushel basket of cards to use it on.

Cuts:
Agent of Stromgald - A bit of nostalgia; mostly a fill in to get enough cards to play quickly.
Initiates of the Ebon Hand - Ditto.
Kardur, Doomscourge - A selection from the $0.20 bin.
Asmodeus, the Archfiend - Ditto.
[card]Bloodfell Caves
- It's a pretty bad land.
Bojuka Bog - A placeholder. It's not the worst card in the world, but it's a bad land.
Cinder Marsh - A selection from the $0.10 bin.
3 Mountain
Rakdos Guildgate - Another stinker.
3 Swamp
Sphere of Annihilation - Another bargain bin selection.
Dual Casting - Auras are two-for-ones waiting to happen.
Dark Tutelage - I had a copy, so I threw it in. It's not necessarily bad, but I had other stuff I wanted more.
Increasing Vengeance - I decided to dump the copy spells.
Hurl Through Hell - A remnant of the Prosper pre-con.
Repeated Reverberation - Copy spell.
Wild Ricochet - Copy spell.
Bonfire of the Damned - Miracles are clumsy with Rowan.
Traitorous Greed - I think there were too many of these effects.
Traitorous Instinct - Probably the worst of these effects.
