I think there are so many good disenchant effects that a 3 mana 2/2 that only hits artifacts is just never making the cut. Maybe more in cEDH where there is more fast mana?
I guess you can play in a meta that has a lot of static and winter orbs..

The combination of effects is good but both sides are.regularly dead for me so I rarely play it..

You're missing that second line of text. Making all opposing rocks come down tapped is so rough for anyone relying on rocks. But tbh, this should have been , not .

Mangledad is a solid card. The combination of immediate removal and sustained hate is pretty potent on a fairly efficient body. I dig this card, but agree with 3drinks that the effect should be red not green.

I must confess to liking Kismet/Frozen Aether and Blind Obedience more. More "screw you" potential, amd Blind Obedience is also a threat. (Also Meekstone and Winter Orb exist..) But hey, this does remove something, and hits mana rocks, eggs, and the like.

I didn't miss it. I mentioned Static Orb and Winter orb coming into play tapped. I just don't think it's that relevant that often...

Whoa. Well that's pretty good. Great response to removal, can also work when killing opponent creatures. Can't imagine any reason you wouldn't play this, colours permitting.

You do this text a disservice to look at the corner case interaction and not the larger scope of sticking a one sided Orb of Dreams for artifacts. Making signets and talismans come tapped, mind stones and sol rings having to wait a turn, taking the haste away from artifact creatures, even providing a certain vulnerability to Divining Top...Dunharrow wrote: ↑2 years agoI didn't miss it. I just don't think it makes up for not hitting enchantments. unless your meta has a lot of fast mana.3drinks wrote: ↑2 years agoYou do this text a disservice to look at the corner case interaction and not the larger scope of sticking a one sided Orb of Dreams for artifacts. Green and black have better creature tutors, and that's really what this is. Cool design though, I can see it being a thematic tutor in the right decks, and I'm all for interesting variants of staples for specific archetypes.3drinks wrote: ↑2 years agoSunday, June 13th, 2021; Rushed Rebirth

Back in the day, I comboed this with Mystic Decree. Because, reasons.Monday, June 14th, 2021; Island Sanctuary
This card is definitely better than you would think based on the cover. It used to dominate because you'd plop down a serra angel and there's not much they could do since nothing really beats it in combat, and they'd just remove anything that did.
Nowadays it's just that most decks that want to attack are full of ground pounders.
Until you run into dragons.dec and what I've found is that dragons.dec is my personal competitive blindspot. Almost all my decks lose really hard to flying 7/7s that kill all your creatures when they attack or etb or whatever.
And that's a reason I would probably not play this these days :

Gets even better in multicolor. Once you have a ton of ways to draw, the downside becomes irrelevant.

You stopped? Its a wombo combo featuring a Homelands card, 10/10 would run again and again.
Island Sanctuary is an alright pillowfort card - sort of a hybrid of Moat and Solitary Confinement. Skipping your draw step is a pretty steep cost - it is optional, but still not a thing you want to do without being backed up by a lot of card draw... which you may have available if you're running a bunch of enchantresses or Zedruu the Greathearted.
Still, it is a bit of a meta call - if your opponents are running lots of flyers, it goes down in value. It doesn't protect planeswalkers, but it does last until your next turn even if it is removed, which is pretty nice.

In flagrant violation of the rules, I see. You can only have one World enchantment on the board at a time. Your beloved memories are now tainted by my retroactive, decades-old rules lawyering. You're welcome.Sinis wrote: ↑2 years agoBack in the day, I comboed this with Mystic Decree. Because, reasons.Monday, June 14th, 2021; Island Sanctuary
EDIT: Witness, Nexus, the dumbest thing I have ever posted. Completely wrong, and made even more lame by a sad attempt at cleverness. Behold, my shame.

I like Island Sanctuary. As someone said it before, if you can manage to draw cards with some other effect, the downside is irrelevant and it become really annoying for your opponents.
I definetely add it to my want list
