Mono-Black Control in EDH

Hello everyone!
Even though not being able to play at the moment, I'm still theorycrafting some decks on my free time. I'm used to build rather laid back and casual decks, focused on themes and mechanics rather than power (5-6 on the power scale, I would wager). Some people in my playgroup have started to show interest in some higher powered decks though, and I would like to have at least one deck that I can bring up to accompany them. Probably something closer to an 8 on the power scale, I guess. Since it's my first time building at such a power level, I would love to get some advice from the community.
This is what I've decided so far:
Thanks for your help!

This is what I've decided so far:
- I set my eyes on a mono-black control deck strategy since black is my favourite colour to play.
- Right now, I'm thinking of using Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed as the general as he is rather unique, but I'm not 100% adamant on it (I loooved Chainer, Dementia Master when I played him).
- I would like the deck to not win through easy infinite combos, if I put combos in there, they must include 4 or more cards.
- I am ok with "soft locks" like Bitterblossom + Contamination though, but nothing too "staxy".
- I am thinking of winning with either attrition-based stuff like recurring Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Kokusho, the Evening Star or explosive big mana spells like Exsanguinate and Torment of Hailfire
- Budget is somewhat of a concern, but I have a decent collection with some expensive stuff in it, including some staples like Cabal Coffers and Yawgmoth's Will.
Thanks for your help!
