I do highly recommend Clarke though, particularly if you like Sci-Fi, even his early work is quite good.
Clarke is underappreciated today. My favorite of his novels, by a long stride, is Childhood's End. I heard the TV adaptation was pretty terrible, but the novel itself is brilliant.
It's a great novel. Also one I can heartily recommend for anyone who likes sci-fi.

I am so relieved. Anyway, here's some stuff I've been thinking about:

- I hope all of you are being safe, as COVID is surging again in many parts of the world.
- The Mandalorian still impresses me, despite being pretty down on Star Wars since Episode 1.
- I made a pact with my wife that she'll let me teach her Magic if I read her favorite novel, which is GONE WITH THE WIND. Over 1400 pages and I'm finally done.
- There is a bunch of cool animated DC stuff on HBO Max and it makes me pretty glad we pulled the trigger on it.
- Five Finger Death Punch sucks.

I read Gone with the Wind back in middle school, yeah once DC shut down their own streaming service they moved a lot over to HBO max, it's not all but it's a lot.

I have to admit, this made me laugh.

The phrase is "nip it in the BUD"

Please don't nip anything in the butt.

Unless it's a cigarette...

Personally, I didn't like the latest episode of the Mandalorian (Season 2, episode 2), for a very stupid reason.
The reason, which may be stupid

I don't like aggressive creepy crawly things in live action, never have. Which is ironic as I have zero problems with big creepy crawly things in real life. I've petted both a Tarantula and an Emperor Scorpion with no issue. But, alas.

The more you know. I grew up with it nip it in the butt here in the Midwest but we call it hotdish, duck duck grey duck, and such so it may just be a minnesotan phrasing.

That's the funny thing about language, it keeps evolving. Even more so with pidgin languages such as English.

I'm so glad you asked this question because of the all of the interesting responses it's received.

I used to go by another username on another forum some decade ago but got banned for a technicality. (The SJW Gestapo was looking for any excuse to ban me.) When I decided to return to forums in general, I chose this name because I was hypomanic at the time (I have bipolar II disorder) and was convinced I was unquestionably the greatest Magic card designer ever, and that I would have invented Magic if Garfield hadn't first, and everyone else was a fool for not recognizing my genius, which in my mind made me the "legend". Which is all completely ridiculous and couldn't be further from the truth, but I like the name nonetheless so I kept it.

I made this up in 1997 as a nickname for posting on some trendy hipster nerd forum I can't even remember the name of, when I was in a phase where I was super into the Afghan Whigs and how great my own farts smelled.

I legit just put some sounds together that I thought were cool.

It was pretty unique until the pokemon connection happened.

When i started using the internet regularily back in 2000 my first alias was BrickTop based on the character in the movie Snatch. I never really fell out of love with the movie, but grew a bit tired of my alias, since i was gaming extensively online for the coming years.
My next alias was movie-based as well. I used some variations of Toshiro, Toshi and Mifune, due to my long held passion for Akira Kurosawa movies in which Toshiro Mifune stared. If you haven't seen Seven Samurai, Throne of Blood (sorta japanese Macbeth) or Yojimbi yet, you definetly should! Some of my non-MTG accounts like Twitter are still named after that damn badass.

After a hiatus i came back to playing MTG in 2012 and had to come up with an alias for cardmarket that wasn't taken already. Due to my first commander being Oona, Queen of the Fae, i decided to go with Oonaklar, which is a german pun on "Uh, na klar!" which would roughly translate to "Uh, well, sure!"...
But since that one's german i had to come up with something else for MTGS and went with NoNeedToBragoBoutIt, another dumb pun and a tribute to my second commander Brago, King Eternal. That deck exist to date and is by far my oldest.

I chose the name I use here and on other forums, a really long time ago, almost 30 years ago by now. As a young teen, just having finished the Lord of the Rings trilogy (in English of course, despite it not being my native language, or maybe because it isn't?), I was ravenous for more high fantasy fiction. It hadn't really broken into the mainstream yet (we can thank Harry Potter for that at least), so the options at the time were fairly limited. Eventually I got my hands on the original Dragonlance trilogy, and in the first (or was it second?), there was a particularly nasty black dragon that ruled over a ruined underground city that antagonized the heroes for a while that had a name really similar to what I ended up with (Kishanth or something, I don't quite remember and it's been literal decades since I last read it.), I changed it up a bit and used the name for a dragon in a D&D game I was running. So when it was time to create my first email address, I used it, and it stuck. I started using it on forums, alternately with Draco (on the ol' Phyrexia forums, prior to the Sephiroth nuke, long story, but the forums never recovered.). I've pretty much used Krishnath exclusively for 20 odd years though.

But yeah, the origins was a misspelling of the name of a minor black dragon villain in one of the early Dragonlance books. >.<

My name came about in 2009 when I was making a profile on IMDB. I was getting annoyed that all the Lord of the Ring-related usernames were taken - I think I tried Aragorn first (obviously used), but then Thorongil, Turambar, and a slew of others. I was getting super annoyed so I decided to try some obscure name (in this case, a mountain fort where Rohan camps on their way to Minas Tirith). And it wasn't taken.

Been using it everywhere ever since.

Mine's short for Airithne, which was my username on Sally. It became my internet handle as it was my first WoW character's name, and as I made it up, it's never taken.

As far as that name goes I'm pretty sure I was trying to go for Ariadne (the name of a princess in Greek mythology), completely forgot the name, vaguely remembered the Airi sound from it, and made up the back half of the name with something that sounded cool and elven. I just shortened it when we moved over here because it saved everyone, particularly other mods, from feeling like they had to spell the whole thing out, or worse, pronounce it, as it's not particularly intuitive.

FWIW when you were on the sally primer committee I just decided I was going to shorten it anyway, and I'm fairly sure I beat you to it.

I could probably take a lesson from that. Lots of people try to shorten my handle and get it wrong with stuff like tocthe, tohc, toch. Toc would probably be a lot easier.

@Airi it still to this day screws with me that you don't have a cat avatar lol. Granted that happens to me whenever someone changes an avy they had for a long time to something else unrelated.

Oh yeah, it was shortened way back on Sally when people were referring to me, I just made the shortened version my actual username now ^.^ @ISBPathfinder had it mixed up enough that he just started referring to by my actual name

Even my WoW guild at the time called me Air because no one wanted to deal with the BS that was my character name.

Which is funny, because I've been without the Cat avatar for longer than I've had it! I do still have the picture saved, I just enjoy using a picture of whoever my current fictional crush is :D

You shortened it just when I finally learned to spell it correctly.

Was it AIR - ITH - KNEE ? Because if, not, I'm still getting it wrong, though at least I think I managed to spell it correctly.

Just wait till I change my avatar on you... =D

It was kind of amusing to see you spell Airithne's name multiple times in a single post, and every single one was different.
