It's up near gulf Harbor and looks north, so not rangitoto actually..

500 a week but it's a 2 bedroom with water and internet included, which seems like a great deal to me. Bit far out from the city though.

Yeah my geography sucks even within my own city. I am...how you say...not an outdoorsman.

Thats a decent rate for Auckland tbh. Looks like a nice place in a nice suburb. Good find.

I HATE the digital only cards
I know it won't impact commander really - unless they bring them into MTGO..
But still, I hate them.

Davriel - like what the **** am I going to get. Random abilities that are so varied are hard to play with.

Seek - So tutoring, or randomly tutoring, is fine... but now it doesn't affect the order of cards in your library? Why!!!? Either it is irrelevant, or you are playing lands/spells from the top of your library and now your tutors don't shuffle. So it's a drawback? I don't get this mechanic.

Perpetuity - kinda interesting but mostly irrelevant. Unless you have a lot of regrowth effects it just won't come up most of the time.

Conjure - They basically did this with Garth One-Eye, but now you get an actual card. How relevant is this? Barely?? I guess it can be Thoughtseized now.

I think it was inevitable that we would see something like this eventually. I don't care for it either but they would be fools to ignore the design options that the digital space provides.

Edit - I will also add that I think using the word "perpetually" is kind of a crappy way to template abilities that last between zones. I'm betting they'll figure out a better way to say that before too long.

I do kinda like the perpetuity mechanics since they can provide excellent mini-objectives. Probably too annoying to remember for paper though.

Otherwise…idk. Not to say "that's not magic" but it feels very "that's not magic".

That's because it's Hearthstone. The similar card is Emperor Thaurissan, which was incredible in so many decks for the tempo gain it provided; especially heavy control decks, due to having so many cards in hand to be discounted. Obviously this is much weaker, but I agree that having a mechanic that is literally unworkable in paper (unless no one ever shuffles their hand again and is willing to take on a lot of book-keeping) feels very "that's not magic".

https://sport.woot.com/offers/e-w-soft- ... -shirt-3pk

They're super soft and look great, really hard to argue with for $9 a shirt or whatever. Highly recommended.

I own like 9 and bought 6 more. :P

Damn, today's cardboard crack hit wotc pretty hard. Ouch.

EDIT: update to the moving saga-

The place looks really sweet, views are incredible, lots of light and space, beach just down the street, huge park a little further on, Lily's got a garden area available...pretty much perfect.

The magic in the area is...rough though. I took a bus over to their lone event store (which is still a solid 30 minute scooter ride from the apartment) for their FNM - starts with commander and then shifts to draft, which sounded great. However, there's a grand total of 3 people playing commander (including myself) and 4 playing draft (again including myself). This is I believe only the second FNM draft of the season, too. I'd talked to the event organizer ahead of time, and he told me they usually got 6-8 people to draft and implied even more for commander.

Idk. It's not so bad that I want to back out of the apartment, but it's a definite bummer. It sounds stupid, but I really do enjoy my weekly drafting ritual. NZ in general, while great in a lot of respects, is sure rough on the magic front. In a lot of ways it feels like my enjoyment of magic peaked ~5 years ago or so, and it's been kind of a slow side downward ever since.

I'm just SO glad I don't play digital, between the two sets just released back to back and then a third....my money would be non existent even more so than it was. Right now the digital only cards dont interest my curiosity at all since many would have to functionally change for paper play. The ones that dont will either get printed down the line in the respective formats they want them in or not, so no point in coveting things that may or may not come.

In the wishes discussion, I mentioned Death Wish as being a total whiff as the rules currently stand...but now I have a sudden and stupid desire to build a deck with Hive Mind and death wish and some sort of buyback to win the game xD

So I was really bored and I was checking my cards of my Tatyova deck and I saw Stasis . I had bought it from cardmarket back in 2016 as a 4th edition copy (really cheap at that time). The more I checked the wording of the card, the more it seemed a little off, for a 4th edition card. I compared it with photos of the different versions and the template is identical to the more expensive unlimited version.
Is it possible that the seller had listed the card wrong? (he wasn't a powerseller or smth) Is it possible that he sold a proxy to me? I can't recall if proxies were a thing back then, or if the quality was as good as these days. The card looks pretty identical to other cards in terms of glossiness and weight and the colors seem ok for an old magic card. I don't have a loupe to check for the proverbial dots.

I mean, they could have sent you an unlimited version. Do the green dot test, it's pretty dang reliable. https://www.detecting-the-fakes.com/che ... dot-check/

I think it's a lot more likely someone misjudged unlimited/revised/4th than printed a white bordered counterfeit of a cheap card, but I dunno :)

Me too, given the fact that the order was made in 2016 when those cards were even cheaper. Too bad he didn't have some alpha / beta as well :D

If I sat at the table, first time playing with you, and put out Karador, Ghost Chieftain, but specified that it is a janky spirit tribal deck with no Grave Pact effects, would you feel less threatened?

The only creatures in the deck that are not spirits (or that doesn't make spirits) are Eternal Witness and Reflex Sliver. I also have Gutter Grime which makes ooze tokens.

The deck used to run Reveillark, Viscera Seer and many other Karador staples, but over the years so many spirits have been printed that I was able to get rid of most of them.

Second question here is - when I play Reflex Sliver or Eternal Witness, do you start feeling threatened again because not all my creatures are spirits? Does E-Wit get a pass because it doesn't do anything broken?
Does Reflex Sliver make me a target?

appreciate your thoughts!

Saying it's not Grave Pact.dec does the most to ease my mind of anything. I really seriously hate playing against that deck. "Yo dawg I heard you like creatures. well, I'm going to let one of your opponents who isn't playing creatures win the game. Hope you like that."

I don't have great thoughts on this, I rarely will be that upset about someone playing Karador. But I have to know what Reflex Sliver is for.

Honestly, no to all of those. I don't see how Reflex Sliver fits in fully but presumably you have a way of making your ghosties slivers. This all sounds completely above board, fair and enjoyable.

Presumably someone flipped out at Karador? I'd hate to see them play Golos or Kinnan.

To be fair, nobody flipped out at this deck. But it is a very mediocre deck that plays a lot of Kamigawa spirits, because WOTC likes to make good spirits blue.
I find the deck gets targeted more than it should, because Karador is known for combos and grave pact effects. In the past, people also saw cards like Sun Titan and felt threatened, so I have really tried to go all in on spirits.

A while ago I made a thread and came to the conclusion that Reflex Sliver was what was needed in this deck. The deck does the Iname, Death Aspect + Patriarch's Bidding thing, and I wanted to give my army haste. That's when I realized that Mirror Entity could make them all Slivers, and Karmic Guide could reanimate the Sliver.

Second question here is - when I play Reflex Sliver or Eternal Witness, do you start feeling threatened again because not all my creatures are spirits? Does E-Wit get a pass because it doesn't do anything broken?
Does Reflex Sliver make me a target?

I had a feeling it was Mirror Entity.

Yeah sometimes having a ubiquitous commander is detrimental, although to be honest I don't really think of Karador like that in our current era of edh. Not that he's not good, he is. Its more that he's nowhere near as pushed as most of the more recent popular commanders printed.

@Dunharrow, it sounds like you're doing cool stuff with unique cards. It's exactly the kind of thing I'd enjoy playing against.
