As per https://stopgame.ru/newsdata/39364

"Image"

I do not into Russian, but Reddit believes it means this:
Split second

Exchange control of target noncreature spell and target creature. Then player who controls that spell may choose new targets for it.

If that's accurate it's...bizarre. In a great way.

It's definitely an instant btw.

It's like a one-shot Perplexing Chimera'ing of sorts. Sounds good, I'm game. Less abusable by rhino commanders :P

Yes! Another good answer to Cyclonic Rift. Exchange it with a creature with an enters-the-battlefield effect, and watch as your foolish opponent, who just thought he was going to win, despair as you alfa-strike him with your board

Also works nicely if you give your opponent a face-down creature they can't turn up.

So what happens if you exchange your own pact for creature? Seems like this design can be abused in few ways...

It works just as you think it does. And I can think of far better combos currently present in the format that win the game on the spot. So I wouldn't worry about this card more than you should for those other combos to show up.

Just curious, what combos are far better than giving control of a pact to an opponent are there?

Idk, flash hulk? squee + food chain? Plenty of stuff (most of which is probably not kosher at a kitchen table).

Bummer is that stealing the creature doesn't give you much, since they'll be leaving the game soon presumably, and the pact probably does nothing useful for you. And they can't be in that color, or have a couple rainbow lands. It's a cute trick but probably not great. Split second is cool but they can still just counter the pact so w/e.

Those are permanent based combos. If opponent got instant speed removal at the right timing they disrupt you. But giving away your own pact is totally spell based. And this spell got split second. Maybe I'm wrong, but seems extremely difficult for opponents to work around in response.

The fact it has split second doesn't matter a ton for the giving away aspect. If you have power to counter the pact, you can almost certainly still counter the pact once it switches control. I feel the split second is more here for blue stack wars.

counters yes of course but I was talking about the fact that non-blue decks are pretty much wrecked by the combo. Split second is super relevant for the fact that non-blue decks can't do nothing in response to fizzle the spell somehow. That's why I said this combo is much harder to work around than any other normal combo. If you need to use counters, you know you are facing something very difficult to stop otherwise.

This is probably my favourite type of blue card. It throws such a mighty spanner into so many works in such a weird way. So far the Morphs deck is looking like my kinda Fun Interactive Magic TM
