So I just saw the trailer for the new Dune movie, and it looks friggin' incredible.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love the Director's Cut of the Lynch adaption (one of my ten favorite sci-fi movies, despite the almost four hour run time), and I enjoyed the mini-series with William Hurt (It wasn't good, but I enjoyed it nevertheless), but this, this looks like the best adaption to date. Denis really knocked it out of the park.

Which brings me to this, I am a huge fan of sci-fi and fantasy movies, and when it comes to sci-fi, I absolutely adore "so bad it is good" sci-fi. There is a reason why the Ice Pirates is one of my all time favorite movies (and I can tell you, it isn't the space herpes...). And I also enjoy good animated movies.

So to get the conversation about movies, what kind of movies do you enjoy, and are there any upcoming movies you are looking forward to?

Well I just got around to watching Bill & Ted 3 online since movie theaters seem to be going out of business due to the COVID-19 protocols making it very difficult to stay 6 feet away from other people via social distancing. With celebrities leaving Hollywood for good due to California falling off the face of the Earth I wouldn't be surprised If the only movie theaters around are Drive-Ins. I don't see them lasting long either since there won't be any new films made due to the pandemic.

Actors / Actresses will have to start living like normal people for now on while donating their wealth to charity or something. Why do we pay money to worship these people If they don't even care about us? We shouldn't even be worshiping them at all really. Sure there's celebrities who will reach out to fans at conventions but what's the point If it doesn't better ourselves as a society? All it does is create an echo chamber of elitism that's only been made worse due to politics.

But hey you don't have to take my word for it, just ask Rocky Balboa:

"Salvation is for those who are afraid of Hell. Spirituality is for those who have lived through it."

Movies and Film are an odd one for me. I keep track of movies and films I've seen and my personal rating on a 10 pt scale. As of 3 Months ago ( on my Last major update) I was at 660+ Unique movies I had seen, I should say Film and Cinematography are a thing that my dad and I got along about when I was a kid when we really didn't see eye to eye on almost anything so that might be a reason....

But yea I much more prefer Films vs Movies. I know its a small distinction but oh my I can't stand blockbuster action films unless Im really in the mood for them anymore. But yea my top 20 are kinda standard but I know I have some oddballs in there:

1. Alien
2. Shawshank
3. Apocalypse now
4. Interstellar
5. Return of the King
6. Atlantis: Lost Empire
7. Empire Strikes Back
8. Godfather
9. Secret Life of Walter Mitty
10. The Thing
11. Dark Knight
12. Dunkirk
13. The Wave
14. Good Will Hunting
15. Bladerunner
16. Eternal Sun Shine on a Spotless Mind
17. Saving Private Ryan
18. About Time
19. Inception
20. Fury

I'm also quite looking forward to the new Dune. I liked what Villanueve did with Blade Runner, and it seems exceptionally well cast.

Yea the Dune trailer makes the movie look much more solid that the 1984 movie. It might be the fact its effects seems more realistic which is a solid boost in popularity like how Mad Max got more respect for the fact they made the effects not look like well 80s Special effect.

But yea I'm interested to see how this turns out.

I liked the '84 version of Dune, ok, I liked the almost four hour long director's cut. But I freely admit it had its weaknesses. This version seems a lot more solidly made, although I personally don't like the new appearance of the sandworms, I honestly prefer their previous look.
